The worst team(s) in 2015 [Merge]

Which teams do people think will be picking in the top 5 of the NFL draft next spring?

I think all of the teams that were in the top 5 last year are going to be vulnerable to falling into the top 5 next year again, but I could definitely see the Raiders doing a bit better because of Derek Carr. The Jets who picked 6th last year I see doing better this year, they still lack a QB but their defense alone can carry them into being at least a middle of the road team I believe, possibly even better than that if they stay healthy. I could see disaster for the 49ers and I think the Carolina Panthers are weaker than people realize.

Jags

49'ers

Redskins

Bears

Chiefs

As much as you can guess these things in July of course...

I'd agree on all those teams with perhaps one exception...

The Chiefs....    Andy Reid teams typically don't get that bad.

I could see them somewhere around 500....   but I don't see them losing 10 or more games....

Just my two cents....

Redskins

Jags

Bears

49ers

Bucs

I wanted to include the Eagles, given that they have had so much turnover, but they have way too much talent. They cannot be included among the worst teams but I don't believe they will make the playoffs.

redskins- offense is bad except for a couple of receivers. defense is embarrasing, especially the secondary

someone from the nfc south, its hard to say right now but i think one of them ends up picking top 5

either the jags or titans, maybe both.  the colts and texans are just plain better across the board.  whoever loses the head to head match ups is a good bet for top 5.

the niners are still too good to end up top 5, unless kap has an awful year.  their running game will still be good and take pressure of kaps arm

I'm not picking the Jags, Browns or Raiders to win the SB but I think they've atleast rose above their ubiquitous dead last finishes.

I'm thinking in this order...

49ers - their problems have been covered here plenty. They're in trouble.

Buccs - I wish I were wrong but they still had a ton of problems even if they were to have drafted better

Lions - Before you rage, think of it this way. If the Lions do any better than last in their division, a division whose other 3 teams seemingly compete for last place sometimes, they will break a cycle of several years where the previous 2nd place (fraud) didn't finish dead last the following year.

Dolphins - Been hearing that they're back before every season and it never happens.

Titans - I think they'll play hard and not get the breaks. New QB, tougher division than usual, etc. I think that leaves 4 completely horrendous teams plus the Titans and whoever else goes 6-10 or 7-9.

If you don't like my picks then you have to atleast admit that it might go something like this...

Last place NFC West team - if the 49ers manage to place above somebody...they'd have to be the worst team in the league!

Last place NFC South team - I don't think the entire division hasn't improved at all, but of the 4 teams 1 of them probably hasn't

Last place NFC North team - atleast they scheduled both Packers/Bears games early this year so we get some competition down the stretch if the Lions are back

Last place AFC East - The Pats won't play forever and the Bills and Jets could totally goose egg us.

Last place AFC South - by default as I explained earlier

And I know nobody wants to hear it but if Manning's done, talk about a monkey wrench chunked in the machine. The Seahawks could crash, Rodgers could miss 10 weeks with a ruptured epidermis wound, etc.

What the heck? How do we have 12 posts and no mention of Oakland? The black hole! Where legends go to die.

List remains largely unchanged from the last several seasons:

OAK

JAX

TB

CLE

WASH

I think Oakland will be sneaky good (by their standards). It all depends on whether Carr makes a 2nd year jump. He's got a legitimate WR now at least and the D has steadily improved.

I agree about Oakland. I like Carr and the other improvements they made this off-season. They probably still finish last in the division but I don't think they will be among the worst 5 or even 10 teams in the league.

The Eagles will be a bad team, but I don't think they're the worst team in the league by any means. But I've expressed my opinion of what they did in the offseason. You cant make as many dumb moves as they did, throw your team away and still be good. If they are I'll be shocked. I look for them to win 5-6 games.

You and I seem to be the only ones not buying into Chip Kelly and the Eagles.

You cannot be serious about the Jets and Bills? You believe the Bucs will have a better record than them?

Yeah. I think you can basically look at teams and their QB situations and mark them for the worst in the league. The Jets and Bills have the worst QB situations in the league. I like Winston so I think the Bucs can win some games. Same for Titans with Mariota. I would also probably put the Redskins in the worst group as well at #6.

You and I selected 4 of the same 5. Why the Chiefs?

There's always one team that drops off the face of the planet.. the Saints last year for example.

Just looking at their roster:

QB - Average, can't put the team on his back

RB - Great but underused, I imagine because although not injury prone he can't handle a heavy carry volume IMO

WR - Not a great core, I think Maclin is in a make or break season. Let's see if he was a product of the system or he actually has talent

TE - Actually not bad, I rate Kelce

O-Line - Not great, Fisher is a liability

Now the D is much better certainly and can keep them in games but I just can't see the O doing enough to win games if you get me?

Just a feeling, no doubt they roll off a 19-0 record now :P

I can't see the Browns winning 6 games. They have the worst QB situation in the league. I think they pick top 3.

With Fowler out, the Jags are basically the same team with a slightly better Bortles, so they'll win 5 games tops.

The Saints don't have the roster to win many games, Brees is on the decline, and they're re-building. They probably pick #5 overall.

Jameis Winston=Blake Bortles year one so the Bucs won't win much. Defense is really just 2 good players.

Redskins have no talent anywhere. Secondary? Trash. D-Line? Maybe 1 good player. O-Line? Trash. ILBs? Trash. RB? Morris is good but hasn't lived up to his rookie year. WR Corps? Trash besides D'Jax. QB? Self explanatory.

With that being said here is my 2016 draft top 5 order:

1. Redskins

2. Browns

3. Buccaneers

4. Jaguars

5. Saints

I also think the Bears could end up here as well. All you have is Jay Cutler sucking away money while he sits back and gets people fired for his own poor play.

Agreed with Jacksonville. Not only do they have a history of losing, but they lost their first round draft pick and there's still too many question marks surrounding Blaine Gabbert. Both the Texans and Colts are looking good right now (esp. the Colts).

Edit: I meant Blake Bortles. Why does Blake remind me of Blaine? lol.

It's hard to tell, because it typically turns out that the team that gets the pick is NOT the legit least talented team in the league.

It may sound ridiculous now, but some people expected big things out of Tampa last year after they signed McCown. But their OC had health issues, took indefinite leave...and put a QB coach with no NFL experience in his position. Combine that with awful OL play and a mediocre defense learning a new scheme, and its a recipe for disaster.

Same with Houston the year before that, Schaub just fell off a cliff, figuratively speaking, and they went through the rest of the season cycling through backups that didn't belong in the league.

I'd say Cleveland, or maybe the New York Jets.

You're referring to Blake Bottles. In NFL terms, they gave up on Gabbert ages ago.

    • Nice mock. Most of the players you took, end up with the colts in my mocks, too. Really like it!
    • Does anyone really think that Chief roster is good enough to make the playoffs minus Mahomes? I don't. If it weren't for mahomes, their running backs would scare no one. They would have one reliable pass catcher who be be able to make plays(Kelce). And there defense would suddenly look very ordinary and wear down from an offense that would go three and out way to often(think our offense with Matt Ryan and his ability to not throw the ball downfield). When you have a qb the caliber of Mahomes you can do things differently because Mahomes makes everyone else on the team look better. Question, how many superbowls did Reid win in his career before Mahomes became his qb?
    • Nice mock.  Don't have anything negative to say about it.  Would be happy if Colts got these players.
    • In this mock, I drafted defense early, then went with best fit / BPA approach.  Mitchell helps solidify the CB room.  Cooper is compared to The Maniac (that would be awesome if true).  Jenkins for depth on DL.  OC from Wisc to replace Kelly in a year or 2.  I'm a fan of UofL Cardinals, so had to pick Guerendo.  And Ford would replace MAC while on a rookie contract.  What do you guys think?   15. Quinyon Mitchell, CB Toledo Height: 6 - 0 |Weight: 195 lbs |RAS: 9.84 Strengths - Can click and close and undercut passes in an instant with his elite recovery speed - Proven ball-hawk with six interceptions and 37 pass breakups over past two years - Energized short-area mover with torrid foot speed and effervescent corrective twitch - Adept processor in off-man and zone, who can instantly trigger on route breaks - Has the frame, targeted physicality, agility, and fluidity to dictate reps in press-man - Has the versatility to play the boundary or the slot in man, off-man, or zone coverage Weaknesses - Doesn’t quite have elite fluidity and sink when bending to close ground on hitches - Can be baited into making premature hip transitions by nuanced WRs at stems - Relatively inexperienced in press-man, and can improve upper-lower synergy - Can keep shoring up his tackling form as a support defender   51. Edgerrin Cooper, LB Texas A&M Height: 6 - 2 |Weight: 230 lbs |RAS: 9.34 Linebackers who naturally, and consistently, make plays, are impossible to replicate. They can run a 4.7 40-yard dash and still be valuable because they process information at lightning speed and are innate playmakers. Edgerrin Cooper is that player, but with outstanding athleticism and length. That length allows him to wrangle ball carriers with an incredibly high hit rate. He knifes through blockers and consistently makes plays around the line of scrimmage, while also providing a bump as a pass rusher. Dalton Miller   82. Kris Jenkins, DT Michigan Height: 6 - 2 |Weight: 299 lbs |RAS: 8.92 Being the son of a former NFL All-Pro, it’s no surprise that Jenkins has some of the most enthralling tools in the class. He’s an incredibly explosive athlete off the snap, both laterally and vertically, and has suffocating strength at the point of attack. Going further, with his burst, twitch, and mass, Jenkins can levy impressive amounts of power into his attacks, and as he trends up with his hand usage and energy efficiency, it’s exciting to think about the potential that remains unearthed. -Ian Cummings   103. Jermaine Burton, WR Alabama Height: 6 - 0 |Weight: 196 lbs |RAS: 9.54   117. Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, S Texas Tech Height: 5 - 10 |Weight: 197 lbs |RAS: 8.87   151. Tanor Bortolini, OC Wisconsin Height: 6 - 4 |Weight: 303 lbs |RAS: 9.79   158. Javion Cohen, OG Miami (FL) Height: 6 - 4 |Weight: 324 lbs |RAS: N/A   202. Isaac Guerendo, RB Louisville Height: 6 - 0 |Weight: 221 lbs |RAS: 9.98   219. Brevyn Spann-Ford, TE Minnesota Height: 6 - 6 |Weight: 260 lbs |RAS: 7.58
    • I've seen talk in Colts forums (not just this one) that says the Colts need to stack talent and not just picks.  So this mock addresses that strategy.  Traded back a few times to get 6 picks in the top 85.  Opinions?   26. Adonai Mitchell, WR Texas 54. Trey Benson, RB Florida State 56. Ruke Orhorhoro, DT Clemson 57. Payton Wilson, LB NC State 82. Max Melton, CB Rutgers 85. Will Shipley, RB Clemson 234. Prince Pines, OG Tulane 2025 DAL 6th   Didn't realize I had drafted 2 RBs until done, so, probably wouldn't have done that.  But Shipley was the best talent available at that pick.  And he is a great receiving RB, which could've helped vs Texans in the last game.
