Offensive plays you want to see in 2015 with this roster.

The OC has so many options this year, and so many ways to attack defenses, I was just curious what some plays everyone would like to see this coming year.  Situational, or not, just something you as fans would think may work out great, or would like to see happen during certain games this year.

AKA:

Week 1 vrs Buffalo :  a lot of 5 wide sets. -Sure they have a great front 7...but can they cover T.Y., A.J., Moncrief, Dorsett, and Carter on the field at the same time?

Or using a bunch formation with T.Y. on the left, Allen at TE against the line, then Fleener, A.J., and Dorsett bunched to the right.  Using this formation as a WR screen to Dorsett I think would have a good chance at producing a big play.  Especially against Buffalo whom would attempt to blitz Luck I think if they saw this formation.

Any other Idea's out there?

If Allen stays healthy enough, plenty of 2 TE sets

Hurry up offense much like the Eagles run

Flea Flickers

Reverses with Hilton & Dorsett

Pass Reverses

More QB Draw plays like Muschamp (spellcheck) does with Dak Prescott at Mississippi State

No more power run formations

Spider2 Y Banana :cheer:

Some off-balance formations that'll have the defense scratching their head or calling timeout due to brain cramps

The QB draw plays would be awesome in a 4 wide set also.  Spreading the field and playaction to Gore to throw them off, just to have Gore block out the MLB as soon as he see's it's not a run play and he tries to drop back into coverge, and watching Luck run by him because he has Gore in his face...lol...that would be fun to watch.

I want to see Fleener put up big numbers this year and other than that, if I had to pick a play id like to see? It would be…..

T.Y. and Dorsett drawing the backfield with ridiculous speed while A.J.  stays sure footed across the middle on a dig … Fleener takes a flat route while Gore fake runs up the middle giving Luck a definite dump pass to Fleener, Gore or Andre for 5 yards. Just hurting defenses on 3rd down conversions. That’s what I can’t wait to see this year. Poor Pat Mac won’t see the field much on 4th down.

Reverses with Hilton and Dorsett would be so much fun and throw our opponents off balance! If done right, they could both get 300 yds rushing this year along with their receiving yds if we dedicated ourselves to the reverse. It could add a new dimension to the offense.

I'd like to see more spread with Andrew playing in the pistol or the shotgun.  It would, hopefully, spread the defense out more to allow Frank Gore to punch them in the gut.

I'd also like to see a play with Fleener, AJ, and Dorsett bunched out wide to try to get a screen play going.  Last year, we needed to get creative to get production from our run game.  I don't think it will be as necessary this year, but we'll still need it against some of the defenses we'll face this year.

If we end up with a credible run game, I'd like to see a mix of play-action and draw plays that free up some long shots down the field when they start adjusting to the shorter game.

I'd also like to see some variation in the play tempo.

I'd like to see more designed check down throws using Herron. That worked really well in the playoffs. Give Gore stone sorry passes as well.

Boom has to prove he can hold onto the ball. Fumbling was a huge problem for him. If he doesn't prove he has fixed it early on he will #3 a best on the depth chart.

Hey I'm new on here. I came across this topic & wanted to hear your thoughts on this formation(It would be very helpful in the redzone) Fleener & Carter line up on the outside, then have AJ, Allen, & Moncrief on the inside. Moncrief would be our "smallest" WR in that formation at 6'2 & that would be too much size for any team to deal with.

How about a fake FG with MacAfee tossing a pass to Allen.

I could see a fake punt happen that way, but Pat is the punter, not the kicker.  Unless it would be a 60 yard+ lineup.  Then possibly.  Pat has shown some skill in doing odd things on the field, big hit tackles, lining up to get his own onside kick, ect.  Hunter Smith was a QB in high school which helped him when he tried that kind of trick play, IDK about Pat.

Pat is the holder. He would throw the pass on a fake FG.

Hail Marys on every single down, always. Even 4th down, just like a Madden video game. It WILL work, I just know it.

I would also like to see Pat Macaffe kickoff to himself every single time we kick.

I would like to see the Colts utilize the pistol formation very close to the way the Green Bay Packers have been utilizing it.  They're able to spread the defense out and run a lot of power type of running plays using that formation. I think it really aids quite a bit in the play action passing game as well.

Run 2TE sets with Gore running the ball and some 3WR sets with Andre, T.Y. and Donte/Carter.

Leave Dorsett  to run back everything, punts and kicks...and work him into some WR work gradually...this way Dorsett will be contributing to a big team need, a return game...and he won't be in the way of the more experienced WRs playing time and development (Moncrief/Carter).

I understand that Dorsett's preference is to run wild in the open field and catch TDs...but we need him to contribute to the team doing return duty...is he a team player?

you seem to put a lot of stock in moncrief.  i personally think dorsett has more upside and should at least split time as the third WR.  you call him experienced when he doesnt even have 500 receiving yards in the nfl.  i know dorsett has zero, but it feels like splitting hairs to me

both guys need to work on running routes

Barring injury or Dorsett badly outplays Moncrief in TC & Preseason, Donte will be our 3rd WR. We normally don't play rookies right away unless we're forced to do so via injury. Since it'll be Donte's 2nd year in the offense, he does have experience on his side because he knows the playbook better than Dorsett even though I still expect him to have an impact this year especially in the return game.

As soon as I saw we drafted Denzelle Good, I thought of a 2TE formation where the massive, yet athletic Good checks in as an eligible receiver, and gives us 6 OL.  Put TY and Dorsett on the outside with Allen as the TE on the line or Fleener as the TE flexed out in the slot.

If the defense plays 2-deep safeties so that TY and Dorsett don't burn them over the top, fine, run Gore behind 6 OL.  If they stack the box to stop Gore with 6 OL, fine, TY and Dorsett run "go" routes against man-on-man coverage with one safety playing center field who has to pick which side to help.

You've got man-to-man beaters in TY and Dorsett, and zone-beaters in Allen or Fleener.  You could run the no-huddle with this formation and find mismatches all the way down to the goalline, where SURPRISE, remember that eligible OL?  Yeah, Luck to Good for a 1-yard touchdown.

This would be such sweet revenge on the Pats after that nonsense in the AFCCG where Brady dinked and dunked to Edelman up and down the field, then threw a TD to Nate Solder...

I was thinking about the formations you're talking about today on the way home from work. Minus the revenge part lol That's a great idea for the whole season. There is so much we can do now with the depth at WR.

Triple option reverse would be nice to see also.  Luck, Gore, Allen, T.Y., Johnson, Moncrief or Dorsett.  Luck taking the snap option strong side pitching to Gore, then Gore pitching to one of the fast receivers on a reverse, going towards Johnson's side so he'd be blocking out the corner.

How about punting on second down?
