D'Joun Smith & Henry Anderson Contracts (Merge)

I believe you are correct that they are not signed. Yes they have been able to participate up to this point, but if they are not signed by training camp they will not be able to practice. That is very unlikely though.

Smith and Anderson were probably too entrenched in learning the playbooks, getting to their respective weights, physically training, ect, to worry about the contracts. I am sure it will get done soon now that OTA's are done.

You do know they have agents that work on their contracts for them? Them not signing has nothing to do with them being entrenched in workouts and learning the playbook..

Seems odd that in a world of rookie pay slots, these two haven't signed yet. Wonder which side is holding up? Not like these are large contracts to sign on for the team unless an agent is wanting 100% guaranteed money perhaps

I thought it was odd too. I wonder if the Colts or the agents are trying to insert unusual language into the contracts.

I really don't understand it either. Their contract is virtually set as a rookie and they still hold out?

Get to work boys, college is over and it's time to meet the real world!

Am I missing something?  Have they missed any team activities due to not having signed a contract yet?

D'Joun Smith & Henry Anderson are not listed on the Colts roster as of today (2015 06-21). Does that indicate that they're not signed yet? If that's the case, have they still been able to fully participate?

I though D'Joun was the only left unsigned?  Perhaps I'm wrong though...

They haven't missed any time, as a matter of fast, they stayed a few days over after OTA's to do some more 1 on 1's with coaches.  I would not worry to much about their contracts, they'll get signed. They may be wanting a clause put in over encase they ever start.  both are projected as rotation, yet both these players are good, and maybe they think they can beat out the projected starters.

They have been working. Hence why they've been getting raving reviews. They can't attend "training camp" till officially signed. Which they will be.

WHEW! That's good to know, rookies need all the practice time they can get if they are going to be

able to contribute this season. Thanks fellas.

So why say they need to get to work if you don't even know that they haven't been working? Because I'm pretty sure they have been.

I don't think anyone has said the world is ending or they will never get signed. The question is what possible reason can it be that anyone in this new pay structure set up isn't already signed. Seems like it would be a big deal for the new kids to get his first contract signed and share that excitement with his friends and family. There has to be some odd reason for it to be on this type of a delay when virtually everyone else in the league is signed.

We all know it will get signed before camp but it shouldn't be any problem.

I never claimed that anyone said the world was ending or that they wouldn't get signed.  I was responding specifically to the poster who said they needed to get to work, letting him know that they have been working, and haven't missed any time due to not having their contracts signed yet. :)

Yeah, that is not it.  Their contracts are based on where they are selected and not whether or not they are starters.  The only thing for there to be any negotiating on is offset language of their contracts.

this is a post I found explaining why they have not been signed yet.  And it seems to me I was correct in the assumption that it is just the language of their guarantee's and bonus'..

and the only real reason to fight over that from what I can gather is if they believe their impact/playing time is in dispute.

Is grigs sleeping or scouting canada?

Seriously?

What do you think the answer is?

It takes two to get a deal done.

This is about "off-set" language....    the ability to "double-dip" if a player gets cut before his 4-years are up.   Double dip would mean the player would be getting paid by the team that drafts him (Colts) and by the team that then signs him....

Most teams do not allow that and agents eventually give in...

For some reason the agents for Smith and Anderson want the double-dip language included in their deals.

This is not a Grigson problem.....   this is an agent problem.

Sorry,  didn't mean to get on your case....

But you gotta remember,  there are plenty of people here who don't like Grigson and take shots at him.

So,  without an emoticon,  I don't know if you're kidding, or taking a shot?

Sorry about that........
