Falcons Cut Alleged Dog Killer

My God Almighty. This is absolutely horrible what this animal went through regarding her injuries. Makes me sick. Wasn't this guy at the center of a sexual assault charge back in 2010 or 11? I think it was at St. Mary's near Notre Dame. He allegedly attacked a young woman in her dorm room and 10 or so days later she committed suicide. That's just what I can remember.

The guy needs to be out of society. Hope they throw the book at him.

Anyone that harms an animal and even kills one is a cold hearted piece of trash to me.

As long as the circumstance was intentional, yeah I agree...there's no reason to intentionally kick or kill a dog. If this were a case where he tripped with the dog under his feet and the impact killed the dog, then I wouldn't call an accident like that "cold hearted piece of trash". I'm not saying that's the case here, just wondering your perspective on an incident like that.

I also wonder if you feel the same about cows, pigs, etc slaughtered to put meat on our tables. Or are you a vegan?

Oh please, like it really matters if I am a vegan or not (the hell does that have to do with anything?). Let's over analyze a small little comment for the sake of it.

What's with the Falcons and these dog abusers?

It does make you wonder what Michael Vick is thinking right now. If anybody ever served as a model of turning his life around, you'd think that Mr. Shembo would have I don't know used Vick's example as a cautionary tale of what not to do.

I agree RMDY. It's mind blowing to think this happened twice on the same NFL squad.  Not on the same scale of course, but you get what I'm driving at.

Not that I'm in the habit of stifling somebody's freedom of expression HB22 & Bogie doesn't me to come to his defense, although in this case I'll make an exception...What Bogie said is entirely justified given the barbaric torture of an innocent animal. To your credit, you said "There's no reason to...kick or kill a dog."

However, what's with your vegan meat slaughter house angle?  Just how is that relevant to the discussion at hand? Also, generally it's never a good idea to attribute things to a person they never said in the 1st place.

Third, Bogie is a friend of mine & I'm getting tired of people slamming him for no legitimate reason. I've very protective of people I respect & I frown upon outlandish accusations with no basis in fact whatsoever.

It does not look like there is much room for doubt.  Only doubt could possibly be if someone else bludgeoned this little dog

Police said the dog had a fractured rib, fractured liver, abdominal hemorrhage, thoracic hemorrhage, extensive bruising and hemorrhage in the muscles of her front leg and shoulders, head trauma, hemorrhage and edema in lungs, hemorrhage between the esophagus and trachea, and hemorrhage in the left eye with internal injuries.

I didn't mean to slam Bogie for his post. A few months ago, my fiancee was given a Dachshund puppy from a friend who's dog just gave birth. She was ecstatic, she always wanted her own Dachshund, but never had the opportunity to have one of her own. She loved the dog. She was constantly talking about it. One day, my three year old daughter was distraught because she dropped one of her toys in the crack between the cushions in the couch. I was not home at the time, so my fiancee tried to lift our very heavy couch up so she could get the toy from underneath. Right as she dropped the couch back down, the puppy ran underneath it. Pretty much died instantly from the blunt force trauma of having a couch dropped on her.

My fiancee and the kids were devastated. My three year old still talks about how "Hazel got squished by the couch". My fiancee went through a bout of depression, wondering how it happened, what she could have done differently and if she could have somehow saved the dog after it happened. At that point, she couldn't be around other dogs without thinking about the dog she had killed, and how it made her feel like such a horrible, irresponsible person. I spent weeks consoling her, telling her it was just an accident, that it could have happened to anyone with such a small puppy.

What Bogie said was a rather innocent comment, but my point was that these things can happen. Maybe that isn't the case with Shembo, but "harming and even killing an animal" doesn't really make you a "cold-hearted piece of trash" like he elegantly put it. Butchers harm and kill animals every day, so do hunters or fishermen. There is an obvious difference between what Shembo is accused of and what butchers, hunters, and fisherman do. I just took offense to the "anyone that has ever killed an animal is scum" comment, because I've recently spent a lot of time convincing someone that I love that just isn't true.

Lawyer claims Prince Shembo Didn't Mean to Kill the Dog:

Now, its not clear in that article if Shembo is disputing the idea that he kicked it. I don't know if him and his lawyer are telling the truth, or if Prince punted that puppy through the uprights...I'm not trying to defend him. I was just trying to point out that not all "animal killers" are necessarily horrible people with cold hearts. I have a hard time believing all those injuries were from one kick. Maybe it was multiple kicks, or something even more sinister, maybe it was from an accidental situation. If a dog autopsy was performed on Hazel after the couch was dropped on her, I am sure it would have revealed several extensive injuries that would paint a bad picture.

If he acted violently towards the dog, Shembo is a scumbag. But I am at least willing to give him the benefit of the doubt here.

In cases like this, the media likes to leak the details that make the player a horrible person, because the story sells much better that way. Like with Ray McDonald, the guy got arrested for trying to break into his own house after he got locked out. He got arrested again for going back to the house. No one in the media likes to point out that McDonald OWNED the house in question. Why in the world should he be banned from entering his own residence because some ex-fiancee of his wouldn't leave the damn place? Not excusing the violence, but why should the ex be able to live there rent free on McDonald's dime? If I were him, I would have just sold the house and been done with it.

If he acted violently towards the woman, McDonald is a scum bag.  But I am at least willing to give him the benefit of the doubt here.

I didn't mean to attack Bogie, or throw out any outlandish accusations. Sorry if that is how it came across. It doesn't matter if he is vegan or loves a plate full of red meat. Just pointing out that accidents CAN happen, especially in a case where the dog weighs about 5 pounds. To make the blanket statement of "anyone" that kills an animal is a crappy person, that's a rather extreme comment to make in a public setting like this one.

Yes, because beating a dog to death is the same as slaughtering an animal for food.

I can't say what I want to happen to this guy or I'd be banned from this forum, but as an animal activist and a trained fighter, he'd be in the hospital for a long time if I ever saw him.

Bro, you'd have to get to him before me!!!!

I would love to see this chump try to kick my 120 lb American Bulldog, he would never use that leg again!!!!!!

Some vegans/vegetarians actually believe that, yes. Some farmers or "meat" handlers in general treat these animals very cruelly. They are tortured and shoved into confined spaces.

I am not vegan, nor vegetarian, I couldnt imagine my life without meat...but there are some that believe exactly what you just said.

Some hunters and fishermen do it purely just for the sport, kill the animal and waste the meat. Not saying this is the same as abusing a dog, but it sure would qualify as "harming and even killing an animal".

For the most part, and I mean for the most part, killing domesticated animals (pets) is a crime. Unless, you're trying to defend yourself or others from lethal attack and/or injury it's just the way the law is in most states. Killing for food is an entirely different scenario. There is a great distinction between the two as most people know and understand. Euthanasia is another aspect as well.

Knowing the laws in each and every state is up to the individual before partaking in killing any animal. Ignorance is no defense, even if you're just visiting or abide in the state of your residency. I know laws vary. But you better know them before engaging in injury or death to any domesticated animal/pet or otherwise.

With those kind of injuries there's no way it was an accident.

Those injuries could have been done by accident, but not taking the dog to the vet was definitely not an accident. The girlfriend had to take the dog to the vet, with those injuries he would have known that dog was injured and made the conscious decision not to help out the poor dog.

Dude. It would be almost impossible for all those injuries to be an accident. Did you read all of it? You'd think somebody who went to Notre Dame would be smarter than he is too.

Weird things happen but you missed my main point. He ignored the injuries (accidental or not) and the dog suffered until the girlfriend came home. It was not an accident.

I appreciate your detailed clarification on your previous post & I'm sorry to hear about the anguish to your family over losing your dachshund puppy from such unusual accident HSB22. Freak accidents can certainly occur. I will grant you that. However, statements like this one "If a dog autopsy was performed on Hazel after the couch was dropped on her, I am sure it would have revealed several extensive injuries that would paint a bad picture" are extremely misleading because aggression & animal cruelty usually exist in a pattern or demonstrates a similar pattern of frequent acts of intentional cruelty. They are far from one out of the blue tragic outcome. That would be like saying a police officer who takes another man's life in self defense is on the same platform as a mass murder. Translation: The scarcity of an act of violence & sad loss of life cannot be compared to the frequency with which brutality & bodily harm are often committed by a certain individual.

Look, I get your point that sometimes tragedy happens thru no fault of one's own & it's fine to point that fact out. However, while it not wise to engage in sweeping generalizations that anyone who kills an animal is evil, it's just as dangerous to use a freak accident example to justify your exception to this false assumption about the evil nature of an animal killer or an innocent dog's demise. Why? Because 1 in million chances of innocence or far fetched tragedies regarding animal cruelty are extremely rare. Generally, a corner's report & talking to neighbors & close friends by the police can quickly determine whether or not a person accused of animal cruelty is truthful or not.

I appreciate that you didn't mean to attack Bogie & once again my condolences to you & your family on your most recent loss.

According to the report, his then-girlfriend Denicia Williams told police she had taken Dior to Shembo’s apartment, and left the dog there. When she returned, the dog was unresponsive, and died a short time later at an animal hospital.

She said the next day, Shembo told her he killed the dog, at which point she broke up with him.

A necropsy was performed at the Gwinnett County Animal Shelter, where the cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma.

According to the report, Dior had “a fractured rib, fractured liver, abdominal hemorrhage, thoracic hemorrhage, extensive bruising and hemorrhage in the muscles in her front leg and shoulders, head trauma, hemorrhage and edema in lungs, hemorrhage between the esophagus and trachea, and hemorrhage in the left eye with internal injuries.”

Unbelievable how cruel & sick some people are .

Put this animal in a cage & tell everyone loudly why he is incarcerated IMO there would be a reckoning .
