Why is there not a Colts HOF?

Today the Patriots inducted Willie McGinest into their HOF(voted on by the fans). Why has the Colts orginization not started a HOF for our players and our fans? Mr. Irsay could purchase some land near LOS and begin this long overdue venue. Charge a small fee to visit, and have somewhere Colts fans can visit the greatest players in Colts history. And it should include the Baltimore teams as well. It would be a Colts HOF not just an Indianapolis Colts HOF. Thoughts?

Cato and Brackett are the only ones I disagree with. They were good players, but not in the same league as the rest.

You've really watered down the "honor" with a few of those selections.

The ring of honor is essentially the same thing.

Can fans visit the Ring of Honor, watch classic game film, see the uniforms that they played in? No. I'm talking about an actual Hall of Fame building with everything that would be the history of the Colts. Irsay has a lot of stuff from the Baltimore days, lockers, uniforms, benches. The first class should be the Baltimore Colts players.Unitas, Marchetti, Mackey, Curtis, Moore, Donovan, Berry. The Colts have a remarkable history, but no where for the fans to visit.

So you want a Colts museum?

I'd take Cato off.  Bethea probably deserves to be on there when he is all done.  Might consider putting Marcus Pollard on there.  I hated him as a person, but he was a regular season machine for us, Mike Vanderjagt (I'm pretty sure he still is the only K ever to go a full season, including playoffs without missing a FG or XP and that he has the longest streak for consecutive FGs made).

There is a nice museum in Baltimore full of Colts memorabilia for all to see, next to Camden Yards. As far as I know, isn't Irsay's memorabilia in his private office, not for public display ? I thought I saw that once in some Colt's video.

I also thought a Ring of Honor was like a Hall of Fame, but I guess a team could have both if they wanted to.

Inception of the Baltimore Colts - January 23rd, 1953 to March 29th, 1984 = 31 years & change

Inception of the Indianapolis Colts - March 29th, 1984 to Present Day = 31 years & change (and counting)

Equal time equals equal equality. Right? Wouldn't bother me a bit if a building gets erected to honor both. In Indiana. Don't know the rule or reg of the NFL Hall of Fame concerning this, though. Anyone know? Or does it even matter?

I would think a player would have to put in at least 5-6 years with the team to get into the ring of honor

Harbaugh turned the team from bland to solid but he only spent 4 seasons here, at that time we were desperate to honor players since the team was so poor since they arrived here in 84.

I would hope they only give the ROH to players that have had a long and storied resume with the team, as far as Indy Colts...

Manning  (Fully Deserving)

Marvin  (Fully Deserving)

Reggie  (Fully Deserving)

Saturday  (Fully Deserving)

Glenn  (Fully Deserving)

Freeney  (Fully Deserving)

Edge  (Fully Deserving)

Harbaugh (50/50 only 4 years but historic ones for a bad team)

Cato June?  (Only 4 seasons, solid but not ROH)

brackett (50/50, he has the years but the resume is solid, not spectacular)

sanders (only 47 games but was a huge reason we won our only SB in Indy. I am torn over this one)

brooks  (Fully Deserving)

faulk (only 5 years, but what a 5 years, fully deserving)

dickerson (only 5 season here to but like Marshall he was great in his first 4 season and had 1,659 yards and 14 td's, and 4.3 ypc in 1988!!! Fully Deserving

clark  (Fully Deserving)

Very interesting, pac2! The Chiefs Hall of Honor Sports Venue & Stadium. A place to view just about the entire history of the Chiefs.

Wouldn't mind it at all to see the Colts, cities, counties, municipalities, public, et.al to build something like this so fans could get a good grip on the history of the team from both cities of Indianapolis & Baltimore.

Nice. I truly like the idea very much.

Works for me. I like Colt museums. Plenty of

Memorabilia to go around.

There's a museum packed full of memorabilia in the practice facility. Indy and Baltimore Colts. It's like looking into a billionaires closet.

Is it open to the public ? Heck, Irsay should put his rock and roll memorabilia on display, if he doesn't already.

I never understood the Harbaugh worship.

He was here 4 seasons.

Crazy to think he's in the ROH for that.

He had good years, but that would mean Luck is already in even if he doesn't play anymore.

I know Harbaugh got you to an AFC Championship game, but I don't see him as a ROH guy at all. Of course, we have Ernest Byner in the Baltimore ROH, which is even more absurd.

    • Once players think you have the right coach and a franchise quarterback everything changes.  Night turns into daylight.
    • That would be a typical Falcon move... Lol !   Verse is a nice player but to me you absolutely take the player from Alabama who's a one man wrecking crew.   The SEC is a much tougher conference as well.  No disrespect to FSU which is playing in a much softer conference.   However, if the Falcons bit on Verse, Turner could fall to 15.
    • I don’t think he’s fairly being judged here. There’s been reports every single year that we were the high bidder and yet lost out. I truly think most of that comes down to the fact we really don’t have much to offer in terms of things not counting as salary. No franchise QB proven yet, no bikini clad babes or beaches, income tax etc.
    • I have macro, philosophical pushback, which is basically covered in this article: "The draft is an absolute petri dish for every cognitive bias underneath the sun." "Teams massively overestimate their abilities to delineate between stars and flops, and because of that they overvalue the 'right to choose' in the draft." "'I firmly do not believe you trade a high pick, which is going to be a difference-maker, in order to pick up two picks,' he (Polian) said. "But that's the issue, one former NFL executive pointed out. That logic assumes the player you're initially picking will actually become a difference-maker." "'The problem for everyone in sports is that nobody wants to admit how random and arbitrary it is,' the former NFL executive said. 'Admitting that it's arbitrary takes away from your specific abilities.'" So my pushback is that talking yourself into a specific player is inherently risky. Ask the Panthers. Doesn't mean you can't be right, but I think if you analyze the results of trade-ups for prospects, there's no consistent success. You can tell me all day long that MHJ and Nabers are the best prospects of the last five years -- and I don't necessarily disagree -- but the truth is that no one really knows what they'll become in the NFL. And the way we talk about our favorite prospects doesn't accurately reflect that reality. We're all guilty at times of talking about these guys like they're locks, but history tells us that anyone can bust, at any spot in the draft.   My more specific pushback is that I think the way this year's draft is expected to go at the top will result in the Colts still having a great menu of options available at #15, and they can still get a prospect they really like who has playmaker potential without trading up. Especially if you're eyeing a WR. So as much as I would love to have one of the top three receivers, I don't see the value in moving up this year. (And I'll admit a personal bias: I love Brian Thomas Jr, and think we'd be in great shape if we drafted him at #15.)
    • Chuck is still around, Adam V still has land in the area as far as I know, Andrew still has a place, Reggie has obviously stayed. Also seems like our old players love any chance to come back for events.    I mean it’s not the most stunning state in natural beauty, but there are some really nice locations if a person is willing to look for them.
