Grigson expected to sign FA safety soon... per Rotoworld

No doubt we have money, no doubt Gipson is talented. I'm just saying I would rather have

a) 1 of; Pollard, Brown, Miles. 2 round player, 7 Million cap

b) Gipson

That decision is quite easy for me. Draft a S in the 3rd to go with the Vet FA, and Adams. And draft DL, OL too. Thats good to me and saves money. Oh and just FYI Gipson is 24 not 29.

I know he's 24 that's why I said its not like we're trading a 2nd for a 28 or 29 year old hes young so it's just like a drafted player except we know he can play unlike the ? Draftee

I'm actually with RIL here. Seems like we ought sign Miles or Brown and keep our 2nd and the cap...

Gibson is a good deal better than any of the UFA Safeties available, but probably doesn't represent the same value as Miles and a 2nd rounder when you consider how much more he will be paid...

Safety and RB are the two easiest positions to fill, IMO. Every year a few guys at those two positions go from being unknown (or even jobless) to having a great season. It's because Safety and RB are the positions that benefit most from having talent around them.

Mike Adams (Ed Reed, Demarco Murray) can attest to that. Put a mediocre RB behind a great O-Line or an old Safety in a capable secondary and they can make ProBowls...

When we sign someone, I think it'll be a Mike Adams-like signing from last year.  What I mean is: it'll be soneone that makes us all say, "Meh."  I think Adams was meant to be insurance against Howell getting hurt or being underwhelming.  Of course, Adams was needed and surprised everyone (probably including Grigson).  But I'm willing to bet that Grigson plans to draft a safety (if one makes it to the top of his draft board in any of the rounds) and add one more veteran presence in FA (either before or after the draft).  Then he'll call it good and figure in out later if it seems a deficient area in TC...

I don't think Grigson will make a move at safety until after the draft. As much as people say the safety class is poor. I think there are a few starters out there.

Derron Smith, Cody Prewitt, and Tartt could all start. Tartt would be the best option since he already has the size to play in the box.
