Grigson expected to sign FA safety soon... per Rotoworld

Recommended Posts

Brown was here one year on special teams. Had one really good year with the Giants then fell off the map. I have always like Pollard, but he is getting up there in age and is coming off a major injury. He would be familiar with the scheme though, having spent a few years with the Ravens.

Pollard is just a guy to me. Does not have the skills the colts need at safety plus he is old and coming off injury.

He's no world beater, but we have one starting safety on the roster and he always plays out of his mind vs the Pats. I'm good with that signing.

Where on Rotoworld does it say that?  Nevermind, found it.

Colts GM Ryan Grigson expects to sign one of the remaining free agent safeties.
The Colts are looking for a starter opposite Mike Adams after parting ways with LaRon Landry. Stevie Brown is Rotoworld's top available safety and has ties to Indianapolis. Free agent Bernard Pollard also played under coach Chuck Pagano in Baltimore and remains unsigned. Mar 28 - 4:33 PM

When he was younger - he was a JAG. Now he is a older, injured JAG. I don't think he is a starting caliber player any longer.

Unless its Gibson or Hill as RFA's we should just draft a safety in the 2nd. Tartt could come in and start day 1 IMO, as could a guy like Smith. Or if we could teach Holliman how to tackle and be aggressive then he could be a star. Wouldn't mind Harris either, but personally I hope its Tartt in the 2nd/3rd, then Amos in the 4th. those 2 guys may end up being the best safeties in the class. Either way I hope we draft 2 safeties. Sample or Geathers would be nice in the 4th/5th too.

This is just hearsay. Like Rotoworld knows what Grigson is thinking about maybe doing sometime soon. I'll believe it when there's some actual substance behind the talk.

Btw I wouldn't mind going after Gipson. You look for starters in the draft, he's a starter. Give the Second Round pick for him.

he doesn't play out of his mind against the pats, he just ends up injuring one of their players every time.

is this a joke

I think Gipson is a bit overrated in my opinion, and I am not a fan of giving up draft picks to begin with, let alone while still paying a player too much.

I'd rather have any of: Bernard Pollard, Jeremy Miles, Stevie Brown, A 2nd, and about 7 Mil in cap space than Gipson.

Price tag, and the pick would explain why he's had such a lack of interest from any team, including us.

Not saying Safety has to be drafted with the 2nd, there is way too much talent in the second too give up a pick that easily. Also rookie contracts are way cheaper then what Gipson would require.

And I know playmakers cost money, we have a lot of them that will be up for pay days soon, so we need to save money and draft well. Making it all the more important to not spend and give up picks (at the same time atleast).

we have plenty of money to sign our players others will have contracts expire and we will cut older players too its not like we're trading a pick for a 28 or 29 year old player

No doubt we have money, no doubt Gipson is talented. I'm just saying I would rather have

a) 1 of; Pollard, Brown, Miles. 2 round player, 7 Million cap

b) Gipson

That decision is quite easy for me. Draft a S in the 3rd to go with the Vet FA, and Adams. And draft DL, OL too. Thats good to me and saves money. Oh and just FYI Gipson is 24 not 29.
