?  Peyton restructured his contract just about every season he was here after he got off his rookie deal.

 

As for his last year the Colts did that because they didn't know if he could play and that was there only out if they kept him past that point they were locked into the contract.  Also the fact they had the number one overall pick and Andrew Luck was in the draft help make that move happen too.

Manning allowed the Colts to put a club option in his contract for the 2012 season to help protect the Colts if he wasn't ready to play. This thread is dumb. He was due something like $28 million of we had kept him and at the time the decision was to be made no one knew if he would ever play again.

He knows he is at the end of the road now, it was either get $4 million extra or take less and hopefully keep Thomas or someone else. He has made his money and wants to win in what is most likely his last chance.
