There are NO rumors of this, but I think it would make sense for both teams involved (if the terms could be agreed upon).

 

What do you think it would take to get Jairus Byrd away from the Saints? 

 

Points for:

• They are well over the CAP
• We could use anyone at safety
• They may not want him after his injury
• He is a great player when healthy

Points against:

• We may not want him after his injury
• His CAP hit is pretty high
• The Saints would probably want an early round draft pick

 

Would anyone attempt to make this deal?

I'm not very good at valuing players against draft picks (I tend to place more value on established players), but let's say it was a third round draft pick.  Would that be too much (or too little)?

Since that cap hit is coming from a signing bonus  already paid to him, there isn't.

I don't know. He played pretty bad while healthy. I don't know if it was the scheme or what but his play was not pretty.. could be Trent 2.0

Heck no. I did want him last year, but now we need to just look at McCourty. Or if we don't get McCourty, Then Moore or Searcy. Or maybe even try to sign Hill or Gibson to an offer sheet.

This. . . I don't expect that NO would want to take such a big dead money hit unless they where offered a really high draft pick.

1. Don't think they'd trade him (contracts issues)

2. No way I send higher then a 3rd for him, Coming off a injury and a huge cap hit. If he were cut I'd be all over it though (doubtful)

No thanks to Byrd. As other have stated, he was not looking good for the Saints in the four games he got to play.

 

If the Saints are looking to trade a Safety it would be Kenny Vacarro.

This is the stuff of Madden.

 

Bryd is expensive and was underwhelming last year when not hurt.  Why would the Colts give up anything for a player in that circusmstance.

 

He will be cost prohibitive to the Saints in dead money.

 

Not a realistic scenario.
