Adjusted Salary caps

Reading that the NFL average salary cap is 143 mil..

..but that Denver's was adjusted to 150 mil?

I guess I need an explaination..I know teams are required to spend something like 89% of the cap on average over 4 years....but the Broncos certainly did last year ..and then some.

How can you teams cap be adjusted and how and why is it adjusted?

Anyone know?

I'm still missing it...

Why are they allowed to do that when they have overspent?

They haven't overspent.

If the cap is $130m, and a team rolls forward $10m, their adjusted cap is $140m. So while the Broncos went over the official cap by 5% in 2013 and 2014, that overage was more than absorbed by the money that they rolled forward. So much so that they still had money to roll forward. Between that and retroactive cap adjustments for incentives that weren't met, they've had extra cap space every year of this new CBA.

Look at it this way: Each team had a total of $376.6m in cap space from 2012-2014. The Broncos only used $370.7m of that cap space, so they still have $5.9m to roll forward into 2015.
