Ok so I was reading an I saw that luck is still under contract and technically we don't have to pay him that mega contract .. I think if we hold off and surround him with acouple more pieces we can make a Super Bowl run . Sometimes winning superbowls is the players understanding what the gm needs to make a Super Bowl team .. Money is the key look at Tom Brady he's the king of taking pay cuts hence the reason of his rings .. Peyton manning has done it but not nearly enough .. I wouldn't like to see luck go that route he looks like a team guy and you can tell he loves to win . Are offense is stellar we need a big play wr Ty opens the field but we someone who can help take away the double team . The O line isn't great but it's not that bad center and right guard . Here's the real problem the defense I like Arthur jones ,vonte Davis , mike Adams , newsome and Werner .. Everyone else bye .. The defense can be fixed this year not taking the eye popping guy who wants to kill are cap . I would like something like Arthur jones , Dan Williams (FA) , Jordan Philips (draft) , also there's proven linebacker David Harris would love him he said he'd take a pay cut for a contender ... Maybe draft a corner in the second rd .. I don't like the idea of drafting a rb high this year a guy like Ingram or spiller would do fine fix the line they'll be fine .. All this doesn't happen if your not a team player .. If we go in with this same defense what's the point of watching ..

Tom Brady and Peyton Manning didn't start taking pay cuts until later in their career. They were the highest paid quarterbacks after their first big pay day just like Luck will be. Brady has rings because the Patriots were the best team.

Understand your point about the D its hard to watch them every year with the same results and I don't see a quick fix happening anytime soon.Pagano Monster D  with all theses ex raven players is getting old

Yes, most people really don't get it. I think Grigs is going about it the right way, sure it takes some time but you cant build a #1 defence overnight. Grigs has been getting the mid tier FS's and trying to hit on the draft, which is the smart thing to do, however, the draft is not always 100% thing and more often than not those picks wont be starters from year 1 or even 2.

what makes the patriots the better team is exactly what makes the seahawks a good team. GREAT DRAFTING it seems like they hit on every single pick. We have polian and now grigson that haven't hit on every pick like they do. Also there coaches know how to properly scheme to mask there players weaknesses whatever thay may be.

The Patriots don't hit on EVERY pick. Neither do the Seahawks. What they do is find good players later in the draft.

I don't mind waiting on waiting to pay Luck another year, since it would allow us a lot of flexibility this year. We could then front load the contracts of Lupati, McCourty and others who would be impact players from day one. Frontloading, and letting Andrew wait one year would really help the team I believe. His cap hit of 7M next year would give us a lot of options, and I think this team needs some players to really upgrade certain areas, especially the trenches.

Now the two problems with waiting another year are this. If we don't sign Luck to an extension soon, Wilson will be signed to his first, and his will set a new high water mark. Additionally Rothlisberger is going to get extended soon also, and his contract is going to be large also. The salary for elite QB's is only going to go up! Second, if we don't extend Luck, we lose the ability to make his extension over a seven year period, since he is locked in for the next two. If we sign him to the figures people have talked about, with 15 and 16 salaries already decided, his cap hit would be about 21M a year, and we could frontload the contract with all the cap space we have this year. If we do this, and with the salary cap scheduled to really move after next year due to the new TV deals, his cap hit would not be bad at all. This is the reason I would like for the deal to get done sooner than later. I also think that although Luck will want max. dollars, I believe he will make it team friendly from a structure point. That will help too.

When Irsay was asked about this after the AFCCG, he specifically called Luck's contract a five year contract. The Colts are obviously well aware that they have Luck under control for at least another two seasons. And if they have to, they can tag him after that. He's not going anywhere, and there's no hurry to sign him to a new deal.  And because his contract is going to be so big and have so much guaranteed money, there will be lots of flexibility with structure and cap hits.

I would do Luck's deal only after the team has addressed free agency this year, and after they do new deals for Hilton and the TEs. To me, at the earliest, his deal comes in July/August. More likely, it comes early in the 2016 league year.
