Does anyone see them not being first round ballot hall of famers:

Robert Mathis:

Dwight Freeney:

What other players in the manning era will get in except clearly manning, (somehow not harrison), wayne (hopefully)

2000s Era Hall of Fame Colts: Polian, Dungy, Manning, Harrison, Wayne, Freeney, Mathis, Vinateri. That's a pretty damned good representation for The Shoe

Edgerrin? Saturday?

You know this amazes me. We had such amazing players who you can make an argument for their HOF ballot however, we came away with only 2 afc championships and 1 superbowl... kind of disappointing in a way yet satisfing knowing I got to see all these players in their primes.

If Marvin Harrison isn't a first ballot player then neither are Mathis, Freeney or Wayne. They'll all hopefully get in at some point but I'd be shocked if any of them were on the first ballot.

The other three didn't have any off the field issues. Certainly will play a factor.

if marvin didn't go in on the first ballot no one besides Manning is a lock to go in on the first ballot from that Colts era.

not first ballot. they will both be lucky to get in at all.  if mathis can come back and have another good year and playoff run his stock will go up of course.  if neither does much else from this point i wont be surprised if they dont make it

First ballot is a very tall order...

....I dont know if there's 5 guys playing today who are certain 1st ballot Hall-of-Famers...

IMO there are only 2 guys playing in the league that are sure fire first ballot hall of famers and that's Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.

There's other guys that can slide up to that level though. Rodgers, Calvin Johnson, Revis, Brees, and a few others have that potential.

thst could retire right now and go in on the first ballot it's Brady, Manning and maybe Brees. Troy P. In Pittsburgh might get in on the first ballot too but that's about it.

IDK, JJ Watt seems to be on the right path.

Do you think that his PED suspension will hurt his chances?

it sure won't help. I think manning, polian, dungy, marvin, and Wayne are the only sure bet hall of Famers from that era. Edge, saturday, Freeney, and mathis all have shots but are not locks. Adam should go in but he's a kicker and that can mske it hard.

Edgerrin ain't getting in

Edge is 11th all time in rush yards. He has more yards than HOF's: John Riggins, Thurman Thomas, Marcus Allen, and Franco Harris, OJ Simpson, Jim Taylor and Earl Campbell. I think he gets in eventually. As for Freeney and Mathis I think they both make it eventually.

One thing that has to be considered with pass rushers of the modern era is that the game has changed to a passing heavy league. This means more chances for players to sack the QB than there used to be. Teams throw the ball 40-50 times a game now. In the past it wasn't nearly that much. It's very much like the receiving yards stat for a lot of these receivers, times have changed and that has to be taken into account.

I agree PM...

1st ballot...means you leapfrog virtual superstars who have been waiting for years..

Drew Brees wont be a first ballot HOF ......Adrian Peterson?....Not now

...Reggie Wayne? Not if Marvin Harrison isn't.

You're right....Rodgers could get there,..but there is not one defensive player in the NFl today

who is a certain 1st ballot Hall of Famer. Not one.

I maybe should do a separate thread on this but why do you think that Brett Favre is brought up in every conversation as one of the greatest QB's of all time? I mean most people consider him to be a first ballot Hall of Famer. I understand he has the stats but on this board there are so many conversations about the greatest QB's of all time and how Manning always get a knock because he only has the one SB championship. Well, so does Favre.
