This is a little two minute video about Duron Carter. He seems to fit perfectly in our offense if and when we sign him, and it's going to be all about how good he can become now. Nice little video talking about him that should make people on here more confident about this signing.

Thanks for the link, I hope he is right about Duron.

Me too. Still hoping we draft a WR, but he's like a low round draft pick himself, so this could be a hidden gem. I believe his attitude problems are behind him, or Grigson probably wouldn't give him the time of day.

Nothing wrong with taking the gamble. If he has his head on strait it could be a great signing. Keep my fingers crossed. He has to be happy coming to the Colts at this time. I know some want Reggie gone but he might be able to mentor and help this young man on the field and off.

He looks like he will be a perfect fit for what the Colts want to do. I saw highlights where they threw him that little bubble screen a lot, and he ran away from people, and I know the Colts use to like to do it with Reggie. Add that with speed that Reggie has lost, and I think he is a great pickup for the risk. I love the fact he is

6'5" and can run away from people. Montreal moved him around everywhere. It will help a lot when we face N.E. if we can move our receivers around, where it will be much more difficult to focus on TY. Now if Moncrieft continues to develop. I still would like a WR in the later rounds, but I think it is a great pick up.

I like the signing but if he was 3rd in the league of Canada, doesn't anyone wonder what #2 might be? They seem like big tall guys up there. What does this mean? I've never watched a Canadian game.

whoever was 1st or 2nd could have had a better qb throwing the b all

This might be all talk but.

From NFL.com today...

"Cris Carter says a deal between the Indianapolis Colts and his son, Duron, has not yet been completed. "Um, they haven't done anything yet. I think it's still a rumor. It's a rumor. Don't believe all the rumors."

Until he actually signs it is all rumor.  It looks positive as far as him signing with the Colts, but until the ink is on the contract nothing is certain.

Word of caution guys, he's not actually 6'5". He's a shade over 6'3". Still a very tall receiver, but he's doesn't have Calvin Johnson type height or anything. More like somewhere between T.O. and Randy Moss.

Why does his height matter? He could be Darren Sproles height for all I care, just long as he catches the ball

I like a few things about this signing;

1 - Not that you have to be big to be a good WR but has good size which compliments well with the small but explosive TY Hilton and another good size WR Donte Moncrief.

2 - Also compliments well with our 2 young TE's.

3 - Makes an early WR draft selection a lesser priority.  IMO, we need O-line and safety among other thinks in the draft and free agency.

Well

1. I wasn't the one who brought it up. People kept saying things like "I love this signing because he's 6'5", ask them why that's a reason to get excited about signing a guy.

2. Darren Sproles probably isn't going up over the defense vertically or in the redzone that often.

Yeah, because a guy like Sproles would be great in the RZ, where our receivers struggled.

Then that's on the OC. If you don't have something, adjust without it. Not all teams have 6'4+ WR's, they do fine in the RZ

If Fleener didn't get bullied off the line, he could be our height

Plenty of teams who do well in the RZ without height

OC gotta call the right plays

I still think we go out and try to find Luck that big play making reliable target. Unless there is a injury I don't expect Carter to see the field as a starter. Most likely he will come in off the bench like Moncrief did last year. But, with a strong training camp and pre season that could all change.

I can see the Colts going hard after a veteran free agent wide receiver. I just can't see the Colts heading into the season feeling comfortable with Hilton, Moncrief and Carter.

I'm fine with that situation when you include Fleener and Allen. Maybe pick up a mid level vet or look for one in the mid rounds

Apart from the fact that Adarius Bowman and Clarence Denmark had better QBs throwing them the ball, they're both 30 years old already... I think Bowman could be in the NFL had he gotten a shot earlier though. Denmark, on the other hand, is quite small and was never among the best receivers in the CFL until this past year.

Yes, but Hilton is the only proven WR at this point.. And we need more depth if Wayne and Nicks walk. I would like to see us target a proven WR in free agency and give Luck another reliable playmaker. TY Hilton can't do it all himself.

I read somewhere(don't remember where) that Carter was by far the best wr in CFL!

Whatever that's worth.

He did have our version of tebow passing to him, John Crompton. He had low numbers but took the team from 1-7 to 9-9 and a playoff spot.
