Grigson must have his best draft yet this year

You know who else was quoted as a "never be a star" type player, who was coincidentally drafted in the same round as Newsome.... Robert Mathis.....

Well that right there means he's guaranteed to be a star .......

In some bizzaro universe where that would even make the slightest bit of sense.

Linebacker in the 5th round .... Guaranteed success.

Play action does not require a 1st round RB to work .... you don't think a play action to Boom or Tipton would do what it was designed to do if we were able to run the ball effectively and consistently?  Fixing the OL is the key to establishing a solid running game, which allows for an effective play action pass.  Boom and Tipton are likely not the answer at RB even with a better OL, but there are plenty of capable RBs that can be had later in the draft that would be more than capable of of being the starting/lead RB in our rotation ... if we fix the OL.

.... A Bjorn and a Werner ??? You are right we definitely don't need 2.

My mistake, but if I knew his middle name, birthday, and SS # I should have wrote that too.  This offseason will be interesting. I think the GM is kind of upset with how the Colts got clowned in New England by blowing the whistle on the them. All this off the field distraction New England is dealing with this week before the Super Bowl is priceless.  Next year game between the Colts and New England will be a must watch.  I personal want to see the Colts not only beat New England, but blow them out.  I hope Luck drops 500+, 7tds.  I hope whatever RB they draft runs for 150. I hope Seattle blows them out next week.

I'm still a bit shaken by the Werner pick in the 1st round.

If Grigson takes a couple more D players like Werner in the 1st 2 rounds for Chuckles monstrosity, the draft could turn into a disaster. I would rather he just took skill players in the 1st 2 rounds.

you say that yet last year the guy he traded the first round pick for was a skill player and trent and he was a bust and the 2nd round guy was an olineman in Mewhort who was our second best lineman this season and helped lock down the left side of the line.

Also the guy he traded the 2nd rounder for in the Werner draft was Davis who was by far the best player on the defense last year.

Grigson needs to draft the best player on the board who fills a need in evey round regardless of if they are a skill player or not.

most olb are bust.are draft in 1st rounds. top picks in 1 round have been  on offense that have not been bust over all.

well since Grigson has only had two first rounders since he's been here and one was Luck and the other was Werner that's a very small sample size, unless you want to factor in Trent in which case he's had one bust with a first round pick on both sides of the ball. Also if you are talking in general about the NFL there have been plenty of hits and misses on both sides of the ball in round one.

I agree with Mintor, draft a RT first round and a RG the second round.

We've seen enough to know this is where the weakness is on the OL, and it's worth it to use these picks on some players who could hopefully come in and contribute the first year (it does happen with the more nfl ready linemen but you're usually lucky if you get one).

But I would be willing to spend our top pick on a beast pass rusher if one is available at 29 but he would have to be a pretty sure bet and they don't usually fall to 29.

That was one thing that Polian believed in that I wholeheartedly agree with. Always take the big time pass rusher if he is there. But like I said, he will be more of a Werner type at 29 and not a sure bet.

We used to have the largest scouting department in the league, does anyone know if we still do?

We have to get quality guys on the right side of that OL.

Of course all of this is moot if they decide to sign some veterans in free agency.

Then I would focus on S and NT. we need a 12 sandwich eating beast in the middle of that DL to make this 3-4 thing reach it's potential.

It's not just Grigson.  The Colts' recent draft history is pretty ugly.  In the past decade, outside the QB, how many players have the Colts drafted who even approach being considered a game changer or true difference maker?  T.Y.?  That's about it.  Beyond T.Y., you have to go back to Bob Sanders 11 drafts ago, and Bob was, at best, a part-time employee.  Garcon? Might be a stretch.  He wasn't a game changer for us, but had some moments in Washington.

It's not pretty, but luckily for us, it's a QB league.

Did I say he would be a guaranteed success? .... No I just pointed out that even though he is a 5th rounder, he COULD still be a star. You were the one saying he would never be a star...

need draft  rg . rt   bad ,  first round and second olinemen.   right side failed all night long on luck.

I would say 2 of the first 3, if we cant get either in FA.  I would rather try there for a RT tho, just to save a pick and it's a more difficult position.  We will also need a NT, a LB or 2, and perhaps a S, before it's all said and done.  Through FA and the draft I think we should be able to accomplish that, unless we reach for BPA in a different position.
