2012 1St Round And Colts Mock Draft (12/10)

Recommended Posts

*Note: I am not going to include Matt Kalil, because reports say he is expected to go back to USC next season.

1st down:

1. Indianapolis Colts - Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford

- Its all but certain, that Andrew Luck will be drafted by the Colts. No explanation needed.

2. Minnesota Vikings - Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma St.

- Ponder needs some weapons if he wants to be the franchise quarterback for the Vikings. Blackmon and Harvin will be a great duo in th NFL.

3. St. Louis Rams - Johnathan Martin, OT, Stanford

- I know its a reach, but the Rams cannot protect Bradford at all. Rodger Saffold has been disappointing this season at LT and Martin is probably the best tackle, assuming Kalil stays another year in USC.

4. Jacksonville Jaguars - Quinton Coples, DE, NC

-Jaguars need some help on defense. Aaron Kampman has had injury issues and Matt Roth, who struggles in the pass rush is going into free agency in the offseason. Coples can fix this problem for the Jags.

5. Washington Redskins - Matt Barkley, QB, USC

-Some say he will return to USC for his senior year, but I believe he will enter this years draft. Washington NEEDS a quarterback badly. Rex Grossman and John Beck are both terrible and Barkley is the best QB available so far.

6. Carolina Panthers - Alshon Jeffrey, WR, South Carolina

-Cam Newton has been fantastic this season. With Steve Smith getting older, I say they draft a wide receiver here and get another weapon in Alshon Jeffrey for Cam Newton.

7. Philadelphia Eagles - Luke Kuechly, LB, BC

- Eagles need a LB badly with their poor defense. Kuechly is obviously the best LB in the draft and get a future pro-bowler on this pick.

8. Miami Dolphins - Robert Griffen III, QB, Baylor

-Matt Moore is good, but you wont win a superbowl with him. Griffen has a powerful arm and would be a good fit for the Dolphins with some good play makers. Watch out everyone, Miami is going to be the real deal here.

9. Cleveland Browns - Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama

-I wouldn't be surprised if they got a QB here, but they could get Tannerhill in the 2nd. Hillis has had injury issues and the Browns could get a play maker here with Trent Richardson.

10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU

-Claiborne falls to the Buccaneers needing some secondary help. Barber is most likely going to retire soon and Talib is having some issues. Claiborne is the best CB in the draft and fits nice in Tampa Bay.

11. Arizona Cardinals - Riley Reiff, OT, Iowa

-Cardinals need OL help badly, they need to protect Kolb, which they haven't been doing.

12. Seattle Seahawks - Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama

- With Marcus Trufant heading to Free Agency, Seahawks need to find his replacement.

13. Buffalo Bills - Zach Brown, OLB, NC

-Bills need help on defense. They gave a lot of points up this season. Bills could get a WR here but defense needs help more than ever.

14. Kansas City Chiefs - Landry Jones, QB, Oklahoma

- Chiefs need a quarterback here, Cassel isn't getting the job done, It's time for a change in the QB position with Landry Jones, the best QB available so far.

15. San Diego Chargers - Courtney Upshaw, DE/OLB, Alabama

-I'm not really sure who Chargers get here. I was going to say Floyd, but the defense needs help more.

16. New York Giants - David DeCastro, OG, Stanford

-Giants offensive line has had trouble all year. DeCastro could fix the problem and would see an improvement in the pass and run protection.

17. Tennessee Titans - Dont'a Hightower, ILB, Alabama

-With Ruud heading to free agency, the Titans draft Hightower here. Big reach here, but I think it will pay off at the end of next season.

18. Cleveland Browns (From Atlanta Falcons) - Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame

- With the Browns already drafting Richardson, McCoy (or whoever their QB is) gets help here by having Floyd. Greg Little hasn't been the best. The Browns get a deep threat here and their offense continues to improve.

19. Cincinnati Bengals - Alfonzo Dennard, CB, Nebraska

-With Nate Clements heading to free agency, the Bengals get some CB help by drafting Dennard.

20. New York Jets - Manti Te'o, LB, Notre Dame

-The Jets pass rush needs to improve badly, Te'o will certainly improve their defense.

21. Detroit Lions- Janoris Jenkins, CB, Florida

-In my opinion, he will be Pacman Jones 2.0. He must behave and stay out of trouble, if he does, he will be a great CB for the Lions.

22. Chicago Bears - Cordy Glenn, G, Georgia

-Bears Offensive Line is one of the worst in the NFL. Cordy Glenn would be a good fit for their offense and will help Forte and Cutler immediately.

23. Cincinnati Bengals (From Oakland Raiders) - Mark Barron, S, Alabama

-Bengals need secondary help and Mark Barron is probably the best saftey in the draft. Drafting Barron and Dennard will certainly improve their defense.

24. Houston Texans - Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin

-Texans need some OL help, Konz can play guard and eventually replace Chris Myers when the time comes.

25. Dallas Cowboys - Devon Still, DE, Penn St.

- Cowboys get help at their defense end postition by drafting Still here who brings great pass rush to the field.

26. Denver Broncos - Jerel Worthy, DE/DT, Michigan St.

-Broncos get a playmaker who can play both DE and DT which they need.

27. Baltimore Ravens - Vontaze Burfict, LB, Arizona St.

- People are saying that Ray Ray is going to retire next season, if thats true, the Ravens draft Burfict, who could be a huge playmaker next to Terrell Suggs.

28. San Francisco 49ers - Chase Minnifield, CB, Virginia

- Besides Carlos Rodgers, the 49ers don't really have anyone at the CB position. Minnifield goes here and plays fairly well for the 49ers.

29. New England Patirots - Brandon Thompson DT, Clemson

-Vince Wilfork + Brandon Thomspon playing next to eachother is scary to think about.

30. New England Patriots (From New Orleans) - Stephen Gilmore, CB, South Carolina

-The Patriots secondary is pathetic. All they have is McCourty, Arrington, and Chung playing well. Gilmore will provide more talent for this weak Patriots secondary.

31. Pittsburgh Steelers - Dontari Poe, NT, Memphis

-Casey Hamptom is getting older and Poe could be a good fit for a beastly Steelers defense.

32. Green Bay Packers - Billy Winn, DE, Boise St.

Surprisingly, Packers Defense isn't the best in the NFL. Their front four needs help. Winn could possibly fix that solution.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

33. Indianapolis Colts - Jayron Hosley, CB, Virginia Tech

- The Colts secondary is terrible. Hosley is the best CB available and him and Power will play well besides eachother.

65. Indianapolis Colts - Lucas Nix, G, Pittsburgh

- He could help Addai/Brown/Carter run for more yards and help our pass protection.

96. Indianapolis Colts - Robert Lester, SS, Alabama

-Helps our woeful secondary.

128. Isiah Frey, CB, Nevada

160. DaJohn Harris, DT, USC

192. Adrian Hamilton, DE, Prairie View A&M

Like both your drafts make lots of sense, id switch the Pats first pick from Thompson to Melvin Ingram. The Pats need a pass rush and Thompson isnt a very good pass rusher. But Ingram is a very good player who can play DE/OLB. But other than that great draft.
