why? players have done way worse then rice and just never get caught

You answered your own question. Rice's assault video is everywhere. If it wasn't caught on camera he wouldn't be in this mess anyways. I'm not cheering for a dude who hits women.

Yeah and I don't support them or Michael Vick. The only place besides jail I would like to see Ray Rice is in the Octagon across from Ronda Rousey with two arms tied behind his back.

You cheer when Erik Walden gets sacks?

His girlfriend changed her story and he was released. I haven't seen a viral video of him assaulting her. That said I absolutely do not respect him as a person or athlete if he did in fact assault her. I wasn't aware of the incident until you brought it up so no I will not cheer him. If you strike a woman you're dead to me.

The big issue here... Roger Goodell lied.

The biggest  development here is actually that the NFL Commissioner's supreme power is fading quickly & Mr. High & Mighty isn't so bullet proof anymore. Welcome back to earth you disciplinary zealot.

Anytime Goodell goes down. It's a great day IMO.

Should be interesting to see who picks him up. I don't think he stays unemployed for long.

I've gotta admit that I'm curious to see what teams are interested in Mr. Rice. I don't mind bringing him into INDY just out of due diligence, but Grigs better not sign him on our roster.

Besides our o-line is a mess anyway. We need to fix that 1st anyway before any RB can generate decent yardage. 1 step at a time.

Ray Rice is guilty and everyone knows it. But, so are the stupid females in America who put up with all this crap for extra dollar bills from a man. Yes I can be fair......I call out women as well as men despite my core views at times. Both sexes can be ridiculous.

Society is broken anyway, there is no fixing it.

I applaud you for having the courage to say that outloud. Bravo Jules & thank you.

Did Roger Goodell issue any statement in light of this judge's ruling? It's probably politically correct nonsense anyway; Nothing that would raise an eyebrow or 2.

I can so see little Roger going ballistic over this finding in his official NY league office privately like a rock star trashing their hotel room in a temporary state of pure rage & furry.  :P

The older I get sadly, the more that seems to be true Bogie. If you are a famous celebrity or athlete, normal rules rarely if ever apply to you unlike those individuals not accumulating millions in their daily occupations.

There are always a few exceptions to that rule of course, but what you say is accurate Bogie.

Just look at Black Friday madness shopping sales. Christmas is supposed to be about kindness, charity, & giving back not fighting over electronic crap just to make children idolize parents who go further & further into credit card debt every year.

Sorry for getting off topic there. I just hate how blood sucking advertisers make you feel worthless if you can't afford overpriced junk & you don't measure a person's success by an artificial list of expensive & shiny possessions. Okay, SW1 is off my soap box now. Thanks for letting me vent.

Big Ben didn't rape anybody.

Ray Rice is done, but the fact that he's lost a step has more to do with that than anything else no matter how much anybody claims otherwise to look good. Also, I stand by what I said in the original Ray Rice thread. Deleting the truth doesn't make it not-the-truth.

Of course he's guilty. But he got punished for the same crime twice.

It's amazing that Goodell holds onto his job after essentially being rebuked in this case and in the Bountygate case.

He's a puppet for all of the owners.

The owners love money.

Goodell makes the owners lots of money. Ethical business practices and truth be damned. They'd rather weasel about with cover ups trying to protect the NFL's image than fessing up and telling the damn truth. Lying about it is predicated on stupid people believing what they're told. It works against a lot of people. For the rest  all it does is damage their image even more by lying about it.

Spygate - Uh, there's nothing on these videos. However we won't show all of that "nothing" to you! We'll just hand out an arbitrary punishment before the commish even sees the tapes, and burn them before anyone else can. I'm sure teams that did this did it just for kicks and loved wasting time/resources for nothing. Nothing shady about that at all.

Elevatorgate - Uh, there's no video to begin with. Nope. Never got it. We're going on 2015 and you're telling me the NFL execs don't have priority access or knowledge of stuff like this? Give me a break. They'd be among the first people to see it. But hey, uh, we never saw the video so we'll just hand out yet another punishment before we "see" this video that we've never "seen" before.

Bountygate- At least there were no videos involved in this one since Goodell is allergic to them apparently.

Some of the comments are truly amazing.

First, Goodell gets criticized for suspending Rice two games,....then succumbs to pc peer pressure and suspends him six......

Then the union fights for Rice..THE UNION

Then Goodell gets criticized when Rice wins his appeal.

I think what is obvious is simply the bitterness many people have towards rich owners/company management and will twist anything to validate it.

Nah. A lot of people just don't like being lied to and shady practices. Especially the former when said liar takes everyone for a fool who doesn't know they're being lied to or lacks the self respect to care.

If more people weren't so damn gullible/stupid then this nonsense wouldn't fly. But, like with everything else in the world, it does because a good chunk of the masses are *s. Exhibit A: The presidency of the US for the last 20 some years. Some pretty low standards. *s (Bush Jr.) Purjurers  (Clinton) and a guy doing his best to turn America in to the ultimate welfare state (Obama) and "we've" elected all of them. Twice. How we went from real men with accountability like Truman to these empty suit jokers is lost on me, but, that's where we are.

In the NFL, Goodell and the owners can do whatever the heck they want. It's their organization. I don't have a rooster in the fight, I just like watching football games. I just hope they retain enough credibility for the games to be worth watching instead of letting their greed get to uncontrollable levels. They've done their best job over the last decade to screw it up. I don't think games are fixed, but there are some serious issues in the league as is. "Officiating" in particular is all over the place to the point it sure seems like some guys are bought off. It's happened in other sports and been caught, it's likely happened here but the office would never admit it unless an outside party came up and exposed them with rock solid evidence like a ref admission. There is no reason to believe the league would come forward with something like that. History shows they would instead try to bury it with all of their might. Trying to maintain the product outweighs  the spirit of the game, and that's just sad.

TL/DR a lot of people don't like being lied to,  and  a liar rarely lies just once.

Bringing presidential politics into this thread is not real. Truman? Really? There are very few in here that were even born when Truman was president. I am 60 years old and that was before my time. You could have used a more realistic point of view.

How is this for realistic?  "The buck stops here" doesn't seem to apply to much of anything anymore. Too many people in high positions are corrupt with little to no integrity, and people are fools or have a hand in the bread basket/equally corrupt or greedy who put them there. It's very relevant, and applies to much more than presidential politics. I was simply using it as an example in drawing a line to how many people are mindless sheep who will nod and agree with whatever drivel they're fed with a spoon by a faux smile scheister. What better shining example than our presidents?

Just because something or someone is old doesn't make them irrelevant.  The fact that you weren't born yet doesn't mean it never happened. That's unrealistic or just flat out ignorance. History class is important. If people are ignorant to it they should have studied more.
