Denver dumped their field goal kicker

Connor Barth is only 28 years old and has an 84% FG rate, so about 6 out of every 7 kicks he makes. That is pretty good, if you ask me. The Bucs just went in favor of a younger kicker and it worked out for them but not so much for the Broncos that they decided to test the FA waters again.

I know the off field issues were pretty bad with the alcohol but maybe they should have worked a little more with Matt Prater. I am not real sure of the details but I do know that Matt could kick the heck out of the ball. Maybe it was the off field issues or might have been money? Maybe a Denver fan could give a little insight if interested.

Well for one he had a bad preseason and secondly he was already in a substance abuse program. If he got caught again he would have been suspended for a whole season . On top of it all Prater's contract was kind of pricey ,he was the 2nd highest paid kicker in the NFL . By cutting him the Broncos would save 3.2 million against the cap next season . That money could help resign some keys players

Thanks for the in put. I kind of thought it was a combination of the off field issues and money. I just wasn't sure.

More a reason for the Pats to give Ghost lots O money.. if they can't get a deal done, they'll franchise him two years in a row like they did with Adam V.

I would simply die if Ghost left to the Broncos or Colts

It's Revis I worry about ending up in Denver next year.

Denver might look into a certain Detroit defensive lineman

I don't know...they have Knighten and they won't be able to resign him....they have some young defensive lineman that they will likely go next man up. A lot of their money will go to the Thomas bros and their secondary. That said they need help at LB imo.

The kicking thing has been a real issue. Sure it wouldn't have saved them in the NE game because fgs vs tds they could never catch up...but in the STL game...had they matched stl with fgs for most of those drives into STL territory they could have kept it within striking distance and not given up on the run....they will need to maximize every possession and to get to the opponents 35 and still not get any points...thats just dumb.

In a move that Im not sure makes sense,

Denver has resigned kicker Brad McManus to the practice squad after they cut him 2 weeks ago.

McManus blew some field goals but he put virtually every kickoff out of the end zone.

But now they have 2 kickers available....and I don't know how you make that work for you.
