Although I am satisfied with the way Mike Adams is playing I still kept wondering to myself why we didn't pick up safety Mark Barron from Tampa before the Rams did at the trade deadline. I'm sure Pagano could have done something with him.

It was confirmed we made an offer, guess the Rams made a better offer or they like the Rams more than us

That's the norm...some people just have nothing positive to say. I am glad to see Grigs & Pagano make the move to pickup a proven veteran and pass rusher. Of course We All could find fault and place blame and or ridicule the organization and their decisions ... Have there been mistakes and or misses on draft picks, free agents, skill players, linemen, etc??? Of course there has been, but I've always felt if you don't make Any Mistakes that just Means you have done NOTHING!!!! WE CANNOT FAULT GRIGSON FOR REMAINING IDLE OR PASSIVE, HE IS QUITE THE OPPOSITE OF THAT!!!! It is a process, and as long as we continue to see this organization continually build up the roster, we can rest knowing the problems wesee as FANS have not been overlooked or ignored from above!!!! Next: O-Line Upgrades... WATCH... GoHorse

If Walden got hurt, I'd be all for it. But Phillips would just take away snaps from Newsome, who is more explosive than Philips already, and just like the Titans, we need to develop our young guys.

Ironically, I wanted us to sign Phillips the past two offseasons.

Yeah I don't get why the team is always so hesitant to play the young guys. Most teams jump all over a guy when he starts producing, but we still seem to be keeping the reigns on Newsome and Moncrief. I don't like the idea of Phillips taking away opportunities for Newsome who has shown a lot of potential. I'm also not excited about the signing.

He's really not going to be taking very many snaps away from Newsome.  If you listen to the video clip from Manusky on the colts website he says Phillips main usage will be on 3rd downs spelling Walden and Werner. To me this means we will see third down packages with Phillips and Newsome as the outside pass rushers. I also heard him say he could be used on 1st and 2nd downs sometimes which I am okay with because it is likely Phillips is better against the run than Newsome.  Right now Newsome is more of a pass rusher than anything else. Needs to gain more strength.  I'd be cool with Walden and Phillips containing the edges.

So we could potentially see things like Phillips, Art Jones, Cory Redding, and Newsome as a 4 man rush which I think should be pretty effective without even having to bring a 5th blitzer.  Or maybe Phillips, Werner, Redding, Newsome. I'd love it if it works out(I think it will). We are missing this in our defense.  I can't wait until Sunday!

At this stage of his career, Shaun Philips is like a situational pass rusher. If you play him for too many snaps, his pass rush will suffer. It is not the same Shaun Philips who played with Shawn Merriman. 3rd down pass rusher, I like him in that role like Krunk stated above :).

When Mathis got injured everyone was clammoring for pass rush help, a guy becomes available, & Grigs signs him & peeps complain...

Baffling...

Some People are just really good at complaining there specialist IMO . I say lets see if he can help we could use it .

God creates Adam, and soon Adam is complaining that he's all alone in

the Garden of Eden.

So God says, "Okay, I'll make you a companion, a beautiful creature

who'll cook and clean for you. It will be able to converse

intelligently on any subject, and never ever complain or argue."

Adam says, "That sounds great."

God says, "The only thing is, it will cost you an arm and a leg."

Adam says, "Damn, that's expensive. What can I get for a rib?"

further proof some people just like to complain.

This is a low risk move. If he doesn't workout you just release him. It's not like they are giving a big long term contract and banking on him to be the long term answer at pass rusher. They are seeing If he has anything left that can help them I'd he does this will be a big steal. If doesn't you release him and move on.

But his Madden ratings aren't good! (I guess...Actually I have no idea, I haven't played madden in a long long time.)

sounds like what they are figuring out is Werner, while improving, is not the pass rusher they had hoped for. He's much more of the Walden mold that can do it in spots than he is a Mathis who is pass rushing specialist. If Philips has anything left he's more of the Mathis mold and is exactly what people have been begging for all year and if anything if Philips can still go he will only take presure off of Newsome maybe even freeing him up to make more plays.

Hopefully I can see some flashes on Sunday because I believe it was a key move.  If we can start generating better 4 man pressures it adds a new dynamic to the defense we haven't had. I think he and Newsome will generate some good pressure when they are on the field at the same time.  I also think he may be able to further solidify the run game in some situations.

Over the course of the rest of the regular season I'm very interested to see what it is we can do if anything to improve our running game.  It will be such a key factor going into the playoffs. That and of course the run defense.  Every offense I've seen that beat the Patriots in the playoffs had a good rushing attack.  The only exception I've seen was the Broncos from last year. The Jets had a good rushing attack, The Giants had a good rushing attack, The Ravens had a good rushing attack.

Let's see what happens in the playoffs we have played well against good competition you choose to pick the games we didn't. Hate all you want.

You can't just go buy a team Grig's is building the right way FA is over paying for players you can't maintain a quality team like that. Salary Cap 101. How was Grig's supposed to know Mathis would blow up his Achilles during his suspension? You add Mathis to the D we are talking about a different animal.

The Pats did it-grabbed revis he is paying off big time for them,,,,,,,,,,Aquid Talib for Denver is TJ Ward also for Denver,,,,,Ware also for Denver so,,,,,,,,,,,,we coud of had those guys,,,,,,,,,,,,,And even if Mathis didn't go down we still needed those guys on our team,,,,,,,,,,,,,We had the $$ we picked up guys Walden who really are over paid,,,,,,,,,,,,,,And why didn't we pick up Blunt,,,,,,,,,howd Pats get him back,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,PS staert Herron the TRich show is DEAD

Look, we have our new GM!  I am sorry, but saying Walden is overpaid when he is the one of the many talks of our defense....sad!  He has played well and is getting pressure on the QB.  I have been rather impressed and we paid a lot less for him than a few other big names.

You probably think we still should have kept Manning instead of going with Luck?  There may be a lot of reasons we don't do certain things...Maybe those players DIDN'T want to play for the Colts.  Have you thought about that?  You do know a player can tell a team no.  There could be many reasons.

You realize the goal is to win the Super Bowl I don't see how you can say any of those signings have paid off big time yet. Did you expect Denver not to be at the top of the division just with the offense alone????

I don't think you understand the salary cap.

Blount is a punk and he doesn't know the offense NE was where I assumed he would end up all the time.

Just watched the game.  Wasn't paying attention, doing something else, but caught out of the corner of my eye a guy rushing the passer.  I remember thinking, "wow, now if he could get that burst everytime" (thinking it was Walden or Verner).  Then I see it's Philips.  He got close to a sack once, but I really like his burst off the line.
