9 games in, how would you grade this colts team?

Offense- Without a doubt an A+. Best offense in the league. Our running game could be a tad better but I won't complain.

Defense. B- mainly because of the Steelers game. But this grade would be an A if not for that game. Defense has been pretty darn good.

Special Teams. A+. The best special teams in modern colts history. Amazing kicker in Adam and Pat is one of the best punters easily. Sure we lack a home run return threat but Whalen has done well enough IMO. Also our kick and punt coverage is great too.

Playoff caliber.  Not good enough for AFC championship game.

Needs a better O-line playing as a co-ordinated unit...maybe time and experience will do it.

Need a better D...pass rush, and good coverage skills by everyone in the secondary including safeties

...probably need 2 new safeties.

AND a good RB draft pick before the 4th round...Bradshaw is all we got.

I think the running game is mostly hurt by poor blocking.    Surely seems like much of what Bradshaw and Richardson get is earned on their own with 2nd and 3rd effort.

I'd call the run blocking spotty at best.    Sometimes good,  sometimes very poor.

We also lose our commitment to the run way too easily.

Bradshaw is having a tremendous year.    Richardson is much improved from last year.    But the run game could be better with better blocking and more commitment.....

A-

B-

A+

I think this is the most complete 3 phase team we have had in a long long time.

Is our offense perfect? Nope but we score a ton of points and can strike quick or first down you to death. And we are getting better.

Our defense has a shutout and a fifty burger dropped on us. Which is the closer to what we are? I think the shutout defense, but the NE game will be the best judge.

Special teams, who could ask for anything more? We have a perfect field goal %, 3 perfect onside kicks , give up no return yardage and our "slow " returner is doing better than most of the league.

Do they frustrate me sometimes? Yep ! But all in all give me a colt team like this to watch for the next ten years and I'm a happy fan.

Offense: B+ (should be a solid A but a lack of ball security and a still inconsistent OLine are why hold us back from a solid A)

Defense: C+ (At times they have played B-level defense.  But the Defense has not put the clamps on an elite offense yet.  Can't handle TEs and RBs in the passing game)

Special Teams: A- (Colts have the best pair of kickers in the NFL.  Whalen is relatively mistake free which is what the Colts want with that offense.  But Whalen's lack of explosiveness is the only weakness)

Yeah the o-line is part of the offense and if they struggle you can't give them a A. I agree with Luck our grade is our record.

B, If we could get a consistent running game. I would like to see AB or TRich get a game with 100yds rushing.. In return take some pressure of Luck. Just maybe we wouldnt lead the league in QB hits giving up.

C+, Pass rush needs too improve, we need a LB who can cover a TE. This defense could have been a B if not for the F grade against Pit.

A, Wouldnt change a thing except for a big play making return man.

Offense: B...The line must protect better

Defense: C..we haven't held up against anybody good

Special teams: A - best in the NFL

Record: 6-3,,exactly what it should be on the way to 11-5

For those unfamiliar with PFF position grading, they are cumulative scores. Consequently, had Shipley continued at his pace for 9 games (assuming Mangold's 651 snaps), his current score would be his average grade per snap (.0163) x 651 snaps = 10.61 score over a projected 9 game period.

Harrison's average grade per snap (-.0182) x 651 snaps = -11.84 score projected over a 9 game period.

If that had been the case, Shipley would be currently grading out as 2nd in the NFL and Harrison would be grading out 38th out of 40.

I am sure the Coaches see something that I do not though. That is why they get the big bucks. Harrison is probably going to take his game to a different level next week and for the rest of the season to show what a great decision it was to bench Shipley.

pff scores are a joke

I think the decision to bench Shipley for Harrison had to do with the size of Harrison and strength....some of Shipleys line calls did not help his cause, While Harrison does not show a real strong hand punch in my opinion he has shown the ability to pancake D Linemen
