Correcting Mike Tirico was fun

The Colts pass rush is entirely dependent on their blitzing scheme. The steelers game shows what happens when an offense exploits the holes created by blitzing.

All teams have blitzing schemes some are better than others, some don't have to blitz as much because of having great players, doesn't change the fact that we were 3rd in the league in sacks before week 8, and got consistent pressure on all qbs we faced in that 7 game time period.  Which indicates we have a pass rush.

This is Brady/Manning Hype Bowl. ESPN don't care about any other team, any other games, whatever.

They hate the Colts anyway. Not a shock that they badmouth them still.

I know this is going to sound like I an discrediting our pass rush up to the Pitt game but I think some perspective is always good...12 of our sacks came against the Texans. Jag and Titans, The team earned all those sacks no doubt but that's a lot of sacks against below average QB's, We played a good QB in Roethlisberger so naturally it was not going to be as easy to get to him, I mean we also got to Dalton to but heck he is just trying to find receiver talent to throw to that wont drop the ball......Sanu leads them with 35 catches for 533 yards.....No one else has more then 28 catches (Gresham) and yards (314) Green....And Green has only played 4 games this season sooooo....

How many times did they sack Flacco?  4?

even against the steelers the pass rush was there.  The problem was he had WRs open about 1 second after the ball was snapped.  When we sent an extra guy Rothlesberger seemed to know it was coming and hit his WIDE OPEN hot route.  When Davis went down, and we had Toller and Gordy on the field, our lack of corner depth was very apparent.

yep we got to Average Joe 4 times......A rookie FA LT started that game...That clearly has no business at LT...He gave up 3 sacks in that game plus gave up a Hurry on Joe that helped cause an Int and he don't have the feet needed in a LT (James Hurst out of North Carolina).....Again I know that sounds like Im discrediting those sacks....Im not.....sacks are sacks no matter the competition.... but Im just trying to give a little perspective from what I see

It's not that we don't have a pass rush, but moreso that we don't have a proven pass rusher outside of Mathis. Another guy you can count on to be in the QBs face every other down, if not almost every down. It's the same issue the Jets have. They don't have a proven pass rusher at all tbh, but they scheme well and Ryan has like a billion different blitzes.

Mathis last season had a sack, hit, or hurry on less than 15% of his plays. Good post though.

Stats don't tell the whole story. Good try though. Everyone knows that Mathis is the PROVEN pass rusher on the Colts. There aren't stats that are going to show you that. It's just common sense. Other people have gotten sacks, but Mathis is the guy that teams always knew they had to account for.
