A team u pull for and conflicted

Thoughts on pulling for "your team" and being conflicted if they play a team i "respect".. For example I'm bengals fan diehard 30+ years. Say we are in thread talking and I tell you fellows, I respect colts, broncos and bucs.

Next week the bengals are playing colts. I tell all you guys on this forum , I'm conflicted about the game.

And don't won't either to lose. Would I be a true bengals fan? I know who I'm pulling for personally is my bengals.

I'm just asking this to get opinions, I've been In a debate with a fan of another team on our teams board. Was looking for outside advice. This guy claims to be a diehard fan of his club, but every time his team plays one of his "respected " teams he is always conflicted. What's your opinion. Every few people I've talked to on this board seems like respectable person. Grant not posted but, few post but all pretty intelligent.

Just honest opinion only.

Thank you

I honestly cannot relate to feeling "conflicted" when the Colts play anyone. Now, sometimes I feel bad for individual players on other teams. For example, I hope the Colts destroy the Giants this Sunday and the Colts D completely shut down Eli, but if that happens I will feel bad for Eli because I like him as a person.

There are certainly other teams I respect a lot as well. The Packers, the Broncos, and the 49ers (to a point) are three teams I respect and like to see do well. BUT, that in no way means I'm "conflicted" when they play the Colts.

I'm a Colts fan for sure 1st!

Bengals are my second "favorite" team becuase my whole family grew up in Cincy and are Bengals fans. They then moved to Indiana where I was born.

I've always been a Colts fan.

If the Bengals are playing against the Colts I want to Colts to win and don't really feel conflicted. Any other week I'll root for the Colts and Bengals but there still is a very large gap between the two.

Yes sir! I've got one or two I like to see do well. With that said if they my team I in no way have any confliction.

Hope Bengal tear them a new *

I do not feel conflicted when the Colts play against any other team. I think that the gap between my love for the Colts and my second favorite team, perhaps the 49'ers is too wide. I do root for some other players, but not enough to feel conflicted against the Colts.

It's was a just a scenario statement. Was just looking for a opinion from others. Yes colts skunked us , but I think if we meet in playoffs , it will be different out come. Although colts are solid team. Bengals just flat out crap bed.

I'm a Colt fan only.

I have a soft spot for the Packers, but mainly due to my hate for the Bears.

I have a good handful of teams I really don't like.

I do, from year to year, develop a team I root for, due to many factors like how long it's been since they've won anything, I may like some players on their team, and they're not on the hate list.

However, there is never any conflict.

If there were, I'm likely not a Colts fan. Well, not a die hard Colts fan, anyway. Not in my eyes.

I'm never conflicted when the Colts play. They could be playing against the cure for cancer and I'm still pulling for the Colts.

I am a fan of the game first and foremost, so I have a few other teams I root for. Arizona (lived there for 9 years), Cleveland (born and raised for a time in Ohio). Once upon a time I was a Seattle fan, going back to the days of Largent and Zorn. Not anymore, however. Something stinks with those Sea Chickens.

Seattle is one of the teams I have no respect for. Their play is dirty. They single-handedly forced the NFL to "emphasize" actually calling PI/Defensive holding (because they got away with it ALL year last year), their are the poster team for PEDs in the NFL, and their coach led a roid-infested college team and then bailed on them when the sanctions were coming down. The ownership and management apparently is fine with all this. Therefore, I would love to see them lose every game they ever play. I was SOOOOOOOO pumped when the Colts lit them up last year.

Outside of Seattle, Oakland and New England are two other franchises I have no respect for. Those three are really the only teams I dislike...

I am glad to see AZ look respectable & even feared now. Yeah I know, Kurt Warner almost beat the Steelers in the SB, but this team was so irrelevant for so long that it's nice to see the success HC Arians is experiencing in the Southwest finally. As long as the Dallas Cowboys annually crash & burn, I can embrace any other team's transformation with no reservations whatsoever.

I knew Bruce was 1 hades of an OC, but I was unprepared for how exceptional he'd be at running his football program in the desert. Good for him. He definitely deserves it.

I have a question: Are the conflicted reservations based on liking another team facing the Colts based on a fear of that squad having an upper hand weapondry wise or pure contempt toward them because of either a coaching staff's arrogance or individual players arrogance? There's a huge difference between those 2 choices.

1 scenario fears being outmatched on the field & the other scenario implies despite our season record; we must defeat team X by any means necessary because we despise everything your organization represents.

There's always the comic relief side of things too like getting a kick out of the Jets find a whole new degree of incompetence week in; week out. I like Rex Ryan & part of me does feel bad for the guy, but I am fascinated by how much worse things can possibly get & I'm usually not disappointed either.

Nothing against Rex; It's more a horrible reflection on owner Woody Johnson than anything else. It makes me appreciate the Colts leadership under Jim Irsay that much more actually.

Unless their games have a direct bearing on the Colts, I root for any team that's playing the Broncos, Pats, Steelers, or Chargers. The only conflict would be if any of the aforementioned were playing each other. Then, a tie would be preferable.

No inner conflicts with regard to other teams whatsoever, however...

I am embarrassed to say that I will use the fact that an opposing player is on my fantasy team to console myself about their having had a big game against the Colts, but only after all is said and done.

I don't judge others on the level of their loyalty toward their fav sports teams, though. That is a goon move. I try to get every girl I date to root for the Colts and Pacers (and Purdue) even though I know their last boyfriend likely had them decked out in Bears and Irish gear. It's all for fun...

It's a product that we buy, no reason for Coke® guys to get all riled up if they find their buddy enjoying an RC® cola, except, with the NFL, it would be more like Coke® guys being upset by Sprite® drinkers.. Idk, I'm not great with food analogies

Fair enough, this guy says he is a diehard colts fan, but there is three teams he respects broncos, steelers and bucs.

Last week he was on our board we asked him why he was not watching colts steelers game. Said he was conflicted because the two was playing. I never question one loyalty but let's be honest here. Should one not pull for their team?

Colts are probably my team I would go too if bengals disbanded, but if bengals and colts are playing I'm 100% bengals.

Colts all the way. With me it's who ever is playing the Rat Birds. After the disrespect that Baltimore showed Indy long after the Colts left. It is sad when a city refused to use the Colt name on their scoreboard and the NFL had to force them to. There are still bitter people living in Baltimore who hate on Jim just because of Robert.

I used to think you were a "conflicted" Colts and Giants fan, SW. Lol.

Who will you be rooting for this Monday night (Colts @ Giants)? I will be at the game. Whoever you are pulling for I will root for. :) But I am not conflicted. Like you, I respect a lot of teams/players/coaches, but I am a fan of one team. I always want the Vikings to beat their opponent. In any given week, I also root for any team playing the Pats, Cowboys, and Packers.

(Just kidding about your being conflicted. You are a Colts fan, through and through.)

Which of the Bengals' former coordinators are you rooting for in this match-up between Zimmer's team and Jay Gruden's team? Are you conflicted? ;) Seems like your fans wish they were still coaching in Cincy. I think you could have a strong team (although you have had a couple of bad losses). I hope the Bengals win their division.

No conflict here...Go Vikes!
