Yeah I heard the press conf. I figured that would be a headline.

I'm surprised the reported didn't ask who was better Brady or Manning. Like he would have answered it.

I think he did by qualifying it as "best I've coached against."

LOL, I'm kidding... Bill would snort, smack his lips, and give an answer that loosely translates to, "get lost and stop bothering me with this unimportant crap."

He's said this before about Manning. And Manning reciprocated. It's a virtual lovefest!

It's interesting because by saying best he's ever coach against, implies that he thinks Peyton is better than Marino and Montana since BB coached against them. And yes, I doubt we would get BB to answer who's better between Brady and Peyton. Plus, I don't think BB would have it in him to hurt Tom's feelings by admitting Peyton was the best :P

Yeah, he has also said Brady is the best QB he has ever coached and that there is no other QB he would rather have than Brady. It is what it is. Coach speak before the big game but you know Bill just wants to skip the pressers and get to game day already so he can say virtually nothing after the game. ;)

The quote from yesterday actually mentioned some HOFers specifically. Something along the lines of, "With all due respect to the Montanas, the Marinos, etc."

So basically everyone. Except Brady.  ;)

When Belichick retires, we will know who he thinks is the best.

Bill has already said that Brady is the only QB he would want to have on his team. He has said it multiples in fact. Almost every time he is asked about Brady.

Knew that was coming...Bill never coached against Marino, Favre, etc in their primes.

Bill don't say a lot about much of anything. What is he suppose to say when his QB is Brady? Is he really going to say Brady is not the best when he is Brady's head coach? I am sure he does think Brady is the best but even if he didn't he wouldn't say it.

You are right. He never does say much about anyone so when he gives that type of endorsement about Brady, saying he is the only QB he would want as his QB, I believe him.

I am not sure if any of us understand just how deep their relationship goes. Bill understands that Brady in large part is the player that made him the "genius" and punched his ticket to Canton. And on the flip, Brady knows Bill is the guy that took on a chance on him, not only drafting him but playing him ahead of a healthy Bledsoe. It really is a hand in glove relationship.

High praise from Bill. Yet he has a pretty good record against Peyton. I believe Peyton has also said Bill's best coach he has gone against but I have to find the quote.

That's why I like Peyton, Brady, & Bill. Mutual admiration on all sides.

Brady gives #18 props around 5:56...Thanks Tom. Your alright man.

Couldn't you just picture BB as a Civil War General? What's your strategy to win this next battle General? Answer: "Gotta kill more soldiers than the other side. Next question."   :funny:  lmao

On Letterman a few years back, Bill said his top 3 QBs of all time were Brady, Montana, Phil Simms. I don't think he was joking about Simms.

Contradicts what he said 2 days ago.

"I mean, he's great, he's obviously a great quarterback," Belichick said Wednesday. "The best quarterback I've coached against. ... "Not to take anything away from the Montanas, Marinos and Elways or whoever is up there with those guys, but (Manning) is tough."

Saying between Brady and Manning. He can't say anything negative about his own QB while he is still coaching him.

What are the other answers he could give?.

That response by Bill was spot on. That look said all you need to know about the audacity of a QB change after the loss to the KC Chiefs. As in, this is why media reporters annoy me. They keep antagonizing me with dumb questions over & over again. I'm amazed Bill kept his composure there & didn't blurt out some colorful metaphors in response to such a lame question.

Brady's not going anywhere & whose gonna knock him off & take his job away from him? Jimmy G? LOL! Not directed at Blue Horseshoe just lazy journalists looking for an easy headline soundbyte.

He was never asked who is the only QB he would ever want on his team. He offered that comment himself. And he has done it on multiple occasions. I think when arguably the best coach of all time says that Brady is the only QB he would want to have QB his team it is pretty clear who he thinks is the best QB. He has never said that about another player that he has ever coached.

yea, I don't know. That is what he said on the show. There is a subtle nuance here of him saying "coaching against." I don't think that equates with him saying who he thinks is or are the best QBs. I mean he has a pretty good record against Manning and has held him to 3 and 14 points in a couple of huge playoff games and he beat him last year after being down 24 at half so this may just be a case of Bill laying it on thick which he tends to do with opposing opponents anyways.

Man, you are unbelievable. Here is the coach of Brady saying he is the the only Qb he would ever want and you just can't take it. Someone on the planet not touting Manning as the best ever!? Blasphemy! Certainly even Brady's coach who has reached historic levels with him as his QB would favor Manning over Brady if he was cornered in a room somewhere with no cameras, no media. Forget the actual reality that this is a coach most well known for side stepping answers and never pandering to the media especially when comes to comparing this player to that player or this team to that team. But here he is. Telling everyone that Brady is his guy and there is no other guy he would rather have yet somehow he is fibbing and likes Manning more even though Brady and he have beaten Manning 10 out of 15 times they have met. Stop already.

As many have already mentioned BB has answered this question many times with respect to who he thinks is the best presently playing and more specifically who he would want QBing his team . . . and it ain't Eli and I don't care whose wife he stole . . .

either way the quote is high praise for Peyton . . . surely BB can flavor his comments in front of the press and especially before a game so as not to upset the competition (which he does to everyone), but we all know that BB respects Peyton and that Peyton has the QB IQ to draw such comments . . .

OMG dude...

Can't you just take a high compliment for your favorite player from a well-respected coach and leave it at that? There's no need to try to read between the lines and, in the process, turn another nice thread into a pile of crap.

OMG....really...news flash...Peyton is a great qb...Bill admitting that is like Bill admitting ice is cold. Trying to read anything into is just that...trying...trying to hard. It isn't just a compliment to Peyton but himself because if he is the best and he has dominated him well then thats a pretty good feather to put in your cap. Not saying that was what he was doing...they both have a lot of respect for each other...often trading information at pro bowls etc. I think either given different situations would have been happy playing/coaching with the other. The love fest though is a bit much. I'm sure both get their juices going trying to think of ways to top the other.

That is exactly what i meant . See the fan following i have here :). Thank you.

that was just a joke

I imagine Bill is cringing that people are talking about something he said.  I think he doesn't like talking to the press at all.

And I don't know how come there's tension in this thread when Bill B says something nice about Peyton.
