Early MVP Suggestions

Not that early since we're halfway through the season, but who do you think are some favorites to be in the MVP race?

So far I think Murray would have to be an overwhelming favorite up to this point. He's playing out of his mind and is a big reason the Cowboys have the best record in the NFL. Not to mention he has a legit shot at 2,000 yards.

Murray has to finish the season with 2,000 yards to win MVP over a QB and first, he has to finsih the season.

Physically, that's unlikely. The Cowboys weak schedule will work against him.

Folks are simply tired of voting for Peyton Manning....and 5,000 yards and 50 TDs will only bee seen as less than last year.

I think Aaron Rogders leads GB to the top seed in the NFC and is named MVP

JJ Watt, just like the previous 2 years.

He is an excellent defender but does he really do enough to be the Most Valuable Player of the league?

Last season he was on the field almost every defensive snap and they were 2-14.  This year they are 3-4.

He disrupts plays but he does not completely take games over.

So far he's been healthy. And they've done a good job at giving him rest by rotating Randle in occasionally. I think even if he finishes with like 1,500 yards, he'll get it. He's been the best player in the NFL at any position. I agree that you can't give it to Peyton again. He'd have to top what he did last season.

IDK about Rodgers though. He is pretty consistent year to year, so nothing about this season really sticks out. I'd say Rivers and/or Luck would be ahead of him.

If Andrew tears it up in the latter half of the season, maybe, but I doubt it.

Rodgers is playing incredibly well right now. I could see him winning it again. Murray deserves to be in the discussion. Peyton is always in the mix.

You make a good point Def man.

Do you have to be good? Better than your best year?

Or just new on the scene?

For Peyton to win..does he have top outdo 5,500 yards and 55 TDs?

Because that's not happenng (even with 2 games left with the (Raiders)

The problem with Murray is that he isn't the key to the offense. he isnt even on the field for every play.

I know that Adrian Peterson won..but we can all agree DeMarc isn't Adrian Peterson

If he continues to get 100 yards a game the rest of the season, it will be hard not to give it to him

That's true....

No one has every done that..because the other team tends to start beating on you until you don't gain much

But I'd have to agree...if he gains 100 yards in all 16 games...Murray will be the MVP

DeMarco Murray and Andrew Luck first, Peyton next.

The difference that Peyton has made in the Broncos winning reduces slightly in comparison to how well the Cowboys are winning with Murray and the Colts are winning with Luck. Peyton had a good team and now he has a loaded team, IMO, more loaded than the Colts.

Peyton, fair or not, is penalized for a high floor. Luck's improvement from last year is considerable and there in lies the difference, IMO.

I don't understand that at all. Because Peyton had the best season ever last year, he can't possibly win MVP? That doesn't make sense. Luck definitely has improved more than Peyton did in comparison to last year, but Peyton's (and Rodgers) seasons have been more impressive. Peyton is playing better than he did last year and Rodgers is playing slightly better than in 2011. Luck is definitely in the running (he's my #4 guy), but the other two qbs are more deserving. Luck has the best pass catching RBs out of the three, better tight ends than rodgers and combined, I take Fleener and Allen over JT, but that's definitely debatable. Luck has Hilton and Wayne too, which is one of the best WR duos in the NFl. ALL three qbs have solid defenses and solid running games and solid o-lines.

It doesn't make sense C-Fan...but its voting. Its a popularity contest.

Does anybody really think Kevin Durant (the NBA MVP) is better than LeBron James?

You'd be surprised how few MVPs Michael Jordan won.

....Media gets tired of you. Always looking for the hot new thing.

and media votes.

Unless Peyton outdoes last season (almost impossible)..I dont think he has a chance.

Andrew is right there if the Colts keep winning..and they should..everybody but Skip Bayless will vote for him if the Colts go 13-3 or 12-4

Murray is new...he's got a record thing going...and nobody's tired of hearing about him.

But look at the numbers of Aaron Rodgers...18 TDs and one interception (One?)

If he throws 40 TDs and 3 picks.who would you vote for?

But you're forgetting how incredibly popular Peyton is with the media. The thing that will hinder him more than anything is that the Cowboys are media favorites which will help Murray, and Rogers is also a media darling. They are all performing at a MVP level and have popularity on their side. Gonna be a tough call.

Yeah that was really my point. The record that he has is something extraordinary. 7 games with 100 or more yards of rushing. Imagine if he gets the streak up to even just 12. Even that would probably be enough. He's been virtually unstoppable.

But after watching some sports shows talk about Rodgers, I'd have to say he's in the conversation too. Maybe right behind Murray. But his will be dependent on how good the Packers finish, because right now they're second in the division at 5-2, with the Lions on top of them who also account for one of their losses.

I dont think Peyton Manning is incredibly popular in the media.

..and you get tired of voting for the same guy...(again: see LeBron and Michael Jordan)

I think once Dallas loses a game or two..Murray is done

But Aaron Rodgers is playing better than any offensive player in the entire NFL right now, isn't he?

I don't see it.  They have only played one team with a winning record and he is not leading in any major statistical category.

Dallas hasn't beaten ANYONE with a winning record.have they/

Rodgers leads the league in TD to interception ratio.

18 TDs and one interception...is that a major statistic

It's a nice number but it doesn't make him the best offensive player.  Manning has more touchdowns and a higher passer rating against much better competition.
