No need for sorry...27-0 involves every man playing his position the right way...within the system.  The hitting was the best I have seen since a guy named Sanders (No not Colonel Sanders :))

I agree with that.  I sat there wondering where has this kind of hitting been for the past few years.  I think if Pagano was going to give the veteran his job back, he would say it. We have seen fewer blown assignments and missed tackles with sergio back there.  There have been few explosion plays and nothing is getting over the top of the defense.  Seems simple to me.

With the late game on Sunday, and 85% of the US getting our game I am hoping to see the defense continue to grow.  They need to continue to press the receivers and give nothing deep.  As you say, they have done that well.  Maybe Big Art will be back too.

When I saw her pic that was honestly my first thought lol. Somethings a man just can't help.....

Yep.  And if she did, could you imagine being the guy having to subdue her while resisting arrest?  On the one hand, you know you think it's kind of awesome, on the other, you know you really don't want to be that guy because somehow, someway, you've written yourself in the history books of internet lore and will probably get sued for some sort of sexual harassment...not that I've spent considerable time thinking about it or anything.

I just hope this motivates Landry to come back and fight for the starting job..

"Fighting" has nothing to do with it. He lacks natural coverage instincts and has rendered his ligaments and tendons weak and frail from using PED's to bulk muscle growth at an inordinate rate.

I will say that we can see lack of great coverage when either one is playing, but Sergio simply flies around the football and to the football. He has not looked totally lost like Landry in coverage.

Maybe if Landry was not at home working with body builders and participating in Team Functions, he would not have had the 4 games off. If I was the one who signed his check I would be mad....but...it is not me.

Hats off to Sergio. :blueshoe::blueshoe::blueshoe:

That's what erks me the most. He doesn't seem like a team guy.

I agree, although with as well as the defense has been playing you don't want to make a change to what is working as long as it continues to work.

I mean this defense has looked SPECIAL the last couple weeks, and I'm not wanting to change a player on a defense that has been this special.

except Art Jones....

Actually, I don't think it matters if Landry or Brown start. I don't think either has separated themself from the other to any great degree.

And no matter which one plays, the position still needs to be upgraded in the offseason.

:scorebad:

Defense has been better as a whole with Brown at safety and he's made numerous plays

Agree. Always thought its odd how every off season he skips out on most team activities.

He's a loner in the locker room as well. Doesn't really associate with teammates.  Heard both Phil Wilson and Mike Chappell mention that in the last week.  He's never came across as much of a team guy to me. I wont be surprised at all if he isn't starting when he comes back.

This is true he seems to have a Percy Harvin vibe to him. The defense has been on fire since he's been out. Like I said in another thread when he comes back he's gonna mess up the chemistry. All it takes is one player to mess things up. Keep him on the bench.

Some say..."Oh that is what he has always done."  He is not a superstar by any means...and he took banned substances.  If we have him back at all next year...he would come to OTAs and all team functions.

True. But I wonder how long he has been using PED's.. Unless he just cycles on and off of them, but no matter the answer he's still a liability in pass coverage and even his tackling skills I remain skeptical of.

Hes one of the worst tackling safties I've ever seen.

It amazes me that a guy as big as him with all those muscles, can't complete a simple arm tackle more often than not.

Hard to wrap someone up when you have biceps the size of 3 tree trunks combined

I'm just shocked it took the NFL this long to test him

We don't want arm tackles...we want a good hit and 'wrap' tackle....but your point is well taken.

I guarantee Indy will give him his job back FOR NOW.       But if Landry starts or keeps being average...      We will see more Brown.

It's put up time for LL.   It is painfully obvious...       this team is VERY GOOD with or WITHOUT LL>

SOOO>>>>>>>........  Let's go LL...

I wonder where he has been working out.  I would not even play him the first game available.  Only if he is able to be involved with team meetings and film.  He really has played poorly.

You really gotta let that go. There's plenty of veterans around the league that don't attend the voluntary workouts in the offseason

You can't force someone to attend something that's "voluntary"

When he starts missing the mandatory meetings, then you can shame him

No...I feel that if you are not producing you need to be working out with the football people....teammates....coaches.  Someone that is a consummate professional and a leader like Reggie I do not mind as much.  I would even like him to be with the team if not just in meetings.  We know he runs great routes :)

Hard for me to let it go TK....I am old school football.  Leading by example to me is very important.

I guess we'd have to hear the actual quote from Pagano in context but why would he convey that "(We) Will deal with whether LaRon Landry returns to lineup when it comes up" if he had no doubt Landry would get his job back when he returns?

"Deal with whether he will return to the lineup when the time comes", my take from that is, "When Landry is off suspension we will assess whether we want to stick with Brown or plug Landry back in". That's how I read that, maybe he just worded it weird or he was quoted poorly.

That's how I took it as well. Usually coaches say something like "Next week we get Laron back so we'll be good" when it comes to a returning player. I think it means, his spot is not guaranteed and they'll really think about it.

#colts Pagano: Will deal with whether LaRon Landry returns to lineup when it comes up. That would be next week. @rtv6

I was gonna start a discussion on this exact topic. Landry was not playing well before he got suspended. Brown has been solid. My opinion is that there is no need for a change unless Brown falters. Landry hasn't done anything since he was signed. Time to cut our losses with him  IMO

If Landry is 100 percent healthy, he is back in the line-up. We don't need intra-team squabbling. It will kill our chemistry. Yes, we have to put the best players on the field, but keep in mind, he has always been considered a good player.

landry a good player? When did this happen

I  don't see Pagano ruining the chemistry we have right now.

    • Then begs the question. Do u want to say draft a MJH at 4 and turn around in 4 years or would u say draft Turner and pay him 30mill in 4 years? All day every day for the franchise rush end. I am not a big believer in 30 mill for a wr. Reid is a fantastic coach and look what he did with Hill.
    • I literally just posted that clip, it's where the conversation about QBs started.
    • Funny you brought this up.  I just listened to an interview Ballard did today with Rich Eisen.  He asked him if he has given any thought on how many quarterbacks will be taken before our pick and how many does he think.  He said sure we go through those evaluations.  It helps us with for planning purposes.  He asked him how many.  4 or 5 or 6?   He laughed out loud at 6.  He said Rich if it’s 6 we will be so excited.  Let’s hope so.  He also said the draft board is not yet set.  Won’t be until the night before the draft.  He also said he has had multiple conversations with other GM’s concerning the draft.  Preparing themselves for opportunities that could take place.  And they will continue up until the draft starts.  He said trade conversations won’t really materialize until you are within three picks of any trade.  Giving you time to finalize it.  Interesting interview.  Oh he pretty much ruled out moving up for Harrison.   Going up into the top of the draft would be very costly for him he said.  Thinks he’s a great talent but he thinks he’s pretty much out of our reach.
    • I personally wouldn’t touch Williams with a 10 foot pole. He seems like a distraction and cancerous. He may be Uber talented but I don’t feel like he is a winner, and don’t feel like his heart is in it. I think he gets the bag and just sets it on cruise control. There is absolutely nothing to base this off of aside from my gut feeling.  Maye Daniels  Penix Nix McCarthy   Maye is your prototype passer and I think his deficiencies are easily fixed with good coaching.   Daniels seems the most limited to me, proficient and will be very dependent on where he goes.    Will always have a soft spot for Penix, he throws such a pretty deep ball. His 40 time should have opened some eyes.   Nix is probably the safest pick IMO. I think he’s got the tools to fit nearly any offense. Has the athleticism, arm talent and I think he’s got the between the ears to excel in most offenses.   I see the appeal with McCarthy, he was as unselfish as they come allowing the run game to shine instead of checking to pass plays. I think his ceiling is a solid game manager.
    • I'd imagine he's going bald. Most men his age usually are when they start sporting the caps 24/7.
