Pep vs. Chip

Recommended Posts

I'm not expecting it to.....

I think Chip has a very special mind and what he did at Oregon is not what he's doing with Philly.

And at least Pep has much better weapons here at Indy than he did at Stanford.

I think this game is likely to come down to this....

Which defense can do a better job of slowing up the opposing offense?

I'm anticipating a game where each team scores at least in the 20's...   maybe one team reaches the 30's....

So, which defense can make more stops?

Got to agree.  Philly's O line has some issues right now, which could even things out a bit.  Personally, I'm still not sold on Foles.

I'm pretty confident that we can score on anyone.  I'm not so confident that we can stop anyone.

They only faced each other twice. And Chip Kelly was more involved with offensive gameplanning, so he'd be more familiar with the Stanford defense than anything else. And we have different personnel.

He's probably more familiar with Luck than he is with Pep.

Yeah, guess I was thinking Chip might have the slight leg up, having game planned for Luck before...

It was an aangle I hadn't seen discussed yet, so thought I'd throw it out there...

Eagles defense is weak.... If we don't put up some points against them..... I don't know how we're gonna make it through the season

This should be an easy win. Eagles have 3 weapons: McCoy, Sproles, & Celek

Vontae should completely shut out Maclin & if Greg Toler can't handle Riley Cooper he's got to go honestly lol

Perfect game to use Landry to his strengths, keep him in the box to help contain Shady. Let's do what Seattle does, run Cover 1 most of the game and stack the box

Eagles have Jordan Matthews, Zach Ertz, Riley Cooper, The Eagles also only gave up 4.3 yards per play on defense in game 1....4th in the league so far....While also only giving up 306 total yards on defense...7th best...way to early to say what they are at this point but that's certainly not weak...There up tempo offense could give us nightmares if Foles gets some protection

Their WR corps isn't better than our DB corps

Like I said, Vontae should handle Maclin and Toler should definitely handle Cooper

Put Landry down in the box to help with run support to contain Sproles & Shady. But knowing Manusky he'll do the exact opposite and not stack the box making it easier for McCoy to run

TY's night at Lucas Oil......secondary for Philly is a mess.  Get ready for some long gains.

I think Foles gets hurt this week...he is injury prone and our coordinators and coaches will be on it.

Pep will do our thing, Chip still offense-minded....will not make a difference in my opinion.  Opening night at home. :blueshoe:  :blueshoe:  :blueshoe:

When did Foles become injury prone? He was injured last year?

I read on ESPN.com he is very fragile and they wondered how long he would last.  I believe it was on Insider.  I will see if I can find the link.

Last year he had a concussion that made him miss a game, and then in week 1 against Jacksonville he seemed to hurt his knee in the first quarter. But his second half passer rating was like 120, some I'm not sure how bad he was hurt.

Yeah, Chip vs. Luck is legit. Different offense now, but he knows about the player, for sure. He knows Fleener and Whalen as well.

I expect a shoot out. I think we try to run the ball a lot to give our defense a break and slow the game down but overall I think both offenses are light years ahead of the defenses at this point. I think if we can get some pressure on Foyles he makes some mistakes but I don't know how we do that without blitzing.....and blitzing opens up lots of holes....holes Sproles and Mccoy will take HUGE advantage of. 41-38 on a 2 minute drill drive that leads to a last second fg.....Colts win!!!! lol

Thanks for the input.  I could not find the article again.

Our Offense light years ahead of defense?? We struggle just to put the ball in the endzone until the pressure is on, we're in a big deficit and we run the hurry up. Plus we still dont have a proven consistent running game. Got all the weapons in the world but right now that still don't seem to be doing much for us. I personally at least still think our offense is very shaky and inconsistent right now.

You cant judge anyone or any team on one game played. Do you judge the Colts for the Broncos game and take it as the way it is?

OK.  I think a knee and a concussion is a start....

it could be a start but I doubt it.  he's far, very far from being fragile.  I still think the article you're thinking of had to have been about someone else.  I don't see how anyone who watched Foles at Arizona could even consider calling him fragile.  If anything, he was one of the toughest QB's in that class...he had to be in order to survive that senior year with the lack of protection that he had. :)

Lol. Very well could have been. I was thinking maybe David fales. Similar name but I did a quick search and didn't see anything about him being fragile.

I'll just put it this way....if Foles is fragile, then so is Luck.  BOOM...there, I said it.  You heard it.  Now we have to find a way to live with it! lol

Seriously though, the comparisons I heard/read the most in regards to Foles were comparisons to Roethlisburger because of his size, strength and toughness. :)

Well, I need a shoot out. Everyone on my fantasy team laid an egg. I'm sitting at like 28 points having played Jamaal Charles, Megatron, and Emmanuel Sanders. That said, I have several players playing tonight. I need Luck to go ahead and throw 6 tds to TY Hilton. That's my only shot. Gotta love it.
