Should Khaled Holmes play?

Up to this point Pagano has said the plan is for him to practice this week and play Sunday.  Im just wandering if this isn't a little rushed.  Considering his injury history, is an extra weeks practice a good idea or should they let him play.  I would also like to state that im assuming the plan hasn't changed even though they signed Shipley.

He should and will play vs Denver it will have been 27 days since the ankle injury on Wednesday.  I for one will be frustrated if he is not ready to go. It is time to take this kids diaper off and see if he can play or not. There is a lot riding on this kids 16 month adjustment to the NFL.

I anticipate he's not going to be ready to go.

The Colts have signaled he's not going to be ready.     First, they kept Austin, and then they dropped him for Shipley.    None of that is necessary if they think Holmes is going to be good to go.

Honestly,  I'm not expecting him until the J'Ville game week 3.....   I hope he's back for Philly in week 2,  but I'm not expecting it.

On the other hand you could look at it like this.  I really don't see how Shipley could be ready to go after a short weeks practice.  So if they didn't think Holmes was going to be ready then they should have kept Austin.  Or maybe there is another plan.  Oh the possibilities.

I sure hope you are wrong but I too fear that exact scenerio.  Hopefully Harrison is ready as my biggest worry is them putting in Shipley.  Can Shipley really be able to pick up his third offense (Arians, Caldwell and now Hamilton systems) in as many seasons in one week?

There's one thing I'm concerned with Shipley.  I'm wondering exactly how much of the offense does he really remember? I recall that he was here when Pep was installing the offense in the offseason, but Shipley ended up getting sent to Baltimore before it was all said and done.  If he's not up to speed I would imagine it will effect things on game day. I would assume that's why I see comments from Pagano on Holmes like "We're crossing our fingers that he'll be ready by Wednesday".http://espn.go.com/blog/afcsouth

I'm wondering is that because he knows that Shipley is not totally up to speed on the offense?

of course Shipley doesn't know the offense. He was traded right after the draft

He never played for pep. This is a completely different offense than the one he played on here

The Colts hired Pep in January of 2013 and Shipley was here until May of 2013.  Are you saying Shipley never had or studied the playbook in that time period? Still not a great amount of time, but I'm sure he remembers some tidbits.  Nothing to hold a big debate about, but I was just wondering.

You guys are probably right though.  By the time Pep got here Shipley was still on the team, but we would have been in off season mode still recovering from the loss to the Ravens all the way up to the draft.  If he did have access to the playbook the benefit would have been very little at most I assume.

Neither he nor Harrison practiced today. AQ Shipley took first team snaps at center. #Colts

Chuck Pagano admitting in presser what I think is obvious: Khaled Holmes faces uphill climb to return bc of conditioning/altitude (Denver)

Wow, we are so thin on the Oline. No backup OTs, maybe no real backup C's.

Is Louis the only healthy backup? Am I reading that right?

I assume you are basing that on his medical records and advice of his doctors, right?

Injury history has ZERO to do with it. How is his Ankle? I shall wonder with you.

Im not basing that on anything.  Im just wandering what other peoples opinions are.  That is what these forums are for, right, sharing opinions.

You are the one that was wondering if it was a little rushed.  I'm just wondering what you are basing that question on.  How can people share opinions if they don't know the basis of your opinion?  If you were to say something like, "I spoke to the doctor and he said an additional week of rest would make his ankle 100% vs the 98% he's at now."  Then yes, that would seem like it may be rushed.  If you are wondering if it's rushed based on no knowledge of the situation then that just seems silly.

I just hope they are not trying to rush him back High Ankle sprains can nag you all season if you com back too quick but if he cant go hopefully Harrison can thought he did a good job in the preseason after he went down.

I bet Shipley starts and prob keeps the job this season.

Umm....No

We'll have a better understanding of who will start after today's practice reports. Shipley may very well start Sunday, but he definitely won't remain the starter. My gut says Harrison will start Sunday.

Funny in other thread.
