Great News!  We all thought Shipley played better than Satele every time he replaced him at Center.

I think they traded AQ just to stop all the complaining from the fans, who were calling for Shipley, and to take some of the heat off Satele.

And also... AQ has Swagger!

I mean I really don't think this can be the only move! We need more but it was a start in right direction.

Week 1 I'm thinking will be

AC,Mewhort,Harrison,Throton,Cherilus

Thinking Holmes won't be ready and Shipley will provide great depth for C or guard positions. Hopefully center.

He has about as much swagger as a fat golden retriever

He didn't play well with Baltimore

He's not a good guard, which is what they tried to force him to play, much like we forced McGlynn at guard for two seasons. I think he'll be a solid backup center for us. Shouldn't even have been traded in the first place. Glad Grigson signed him back. Seemed like the most likely signing, being that he's already familiar with Pagano and many of the players on the roster

Even if he is, Shipley has much more experience in real NFL games playing both positions.

So did Link. If you can`t play...

I rooted for AQ to play over Satelle like so many of us.

The problem is and will always be his 29" arm length.

He needs a 5'10" QB. It is a problem and he isn`t much of a guard.

They sure don`t like my man Austin so... whatever. Go AQ!

Baltimore Sun on Shipley:

Shipley's cut comes as something of a surprise considering he started games last season and was running second on the depth chart. Shipley is already drawing interest from multiple NFL teams.

"I've been around for a little while and you see it all the time, it's part of the deal," said left offensive tackle Eugene Monroe, who started next to Shipley last season on the left side after being traded to the Ravens from the Jacksonville Jaguars. "In a way, it happened to me during the middle of last year. You wish the best for the guys that get cut and you work with the guys that you have. Me and A.Q. battled together pretty much all of last season. Knowing what kind of guy he is, I know he'll stick somewhere and do well somewhere."

The converted center, acquired last year during an offseason trade from the Indianapolis Colts, had been concentrating on guard play this summer. Shipley is a 6-foot-1, 307-pound former Penn State lineman.
