Colts Ranking on NFL.com

The NFL just released their AFC ranking for the begging of the season..

1.) Broncos

2.) Patriots

Those were to be expected but next may suprise you!!!!

3.) Pittsburg Steelers

4.) San Diego Chargers

5.) Baltimore Ravens

Still no Colts......but comming in finally at #6 is

6.) Indianapolis Colts.

This is tough.. They obviously do not believe the Colts are for real. It's quoted somewhere on the page that they have "significant short comings outside of Andrew Luck."

I believe we should be #3 or #4. Could be a little biased but no way Chargers,Steelers, and Ravens all ahead of us.... No way

They obviously has to.....

A. Make this before the Steelers-Eagles game

B. Didn't watch the Steelers-Eagles game

C. Aren't aware that the Steelers have 2 RB's in trouble with the law

Steelers couldn't do anything against a average Eagles defense. And you guys can say "It's just preseason" all you want but the 3rd game is when you get a pretty clear idea of what to expect from your starters and the Steelers were horrible

But hey, let them rank us low. We'll see who's still playing in January

I can see the Ravens and the Chargers but the Steelers would seem to be a stretch...

Yes I agree, and I'm one of those that's always say it's just preseason!

But week 3 is the only one I think should be harshly judged. All of the other weeks seem to just be little game practice sessions.

I feel like the Bengals should be up there instead of the steelers, but its no biggie. The AFC doesn't seem as competitive as the NFC

Bengals aren't contenders until

A. Dalton takes that next step and finally wins in the playoffs and stop leaving his defense out to dry

B. They get another weapon opposite AJ Green

The Bernard/BJGE duo is a good running back tandem. Its not just AJ, Dalton has Marvin Jones and Eifert, too. Sanu isn't too terrible either. I feel like that offense will be fine.

Also, the defense still looks stout. I wouldn't call them "non-contenders". I'd be willing to bet they'll be in the playoffs this year.

3-5 are all wrong. They seriously think the Steelers are #3, they are barely #3 in their division let alone in the afc. I'd put the dolphins ahead of them. They didn't put the Bengals in the top 6 but they have won the division what?, twice in a row? Idk about nfl network anymore

They've been in the playoffs the past 3 years. What have they done?

Obviously no question they'll be in the playoffs cause they'll probably win the division again this year but they don't make any noise when they get to the playoffs is my point

Part of the reason why I didn't understand why they extended Dalton.

So If they win the division but don't win in the playoffs makes them worse than the teams that didn't win the division? Im Not tracking here buddy

Outside of what other teams are there, the outside perspective is Luck does drive the wins and we are shortchanging him in personnel (excepting WR) the way some we did to Manning.  They question our backfield and running game. They question our defensive backfield, notably the safety spot(s).  They question our ability to put pressure on the QB, and our OLB to generate containment. Some may agree the 1st team may get better, but when injuries happen the degraded depth player(s) will be our downfall.  Outside our forum, other fans do not see us as a better team, and many felt we were lucky in prior years.  So....

What is the average pay of QB's that consistently make it to the playoffs?

My thought is the Bengals do not have a QB capable of getting to the playoffs other than Dalton, and the were not in to draft a QB that wouldn't be a project.  Like Dallas, they really had no choice but to pony up for their QB.

Calling anybody who will "be in the playoffs cause they'll win the division again" for the fourth time non-contenders is pretty crazy. ANYONE who makes it to the playoffs has the chance to contend for a super bowl title is a "contender", especially if they will definitely win their division.

I'm not worried about the NFL ranking, i don't pay them any mind.

I'm saying as the AFC playoff teams, the Bengals can't beat them as they've proven these past 3 years being 1 & done

My point is they go, but don't make any noise. Obviously if you make the playoffs you're a contender. But until Dalton makes that next step.... They're not a serious threat. A threat yes. But no serious one

For what it's worth,  I think this is the opinion of one person -- Greg Rosenthal,  the writer of the Around the League column -- but I don't think it reflects the views of most at NFL.com.....

I'd be very surprised if it did.

Most power polls I've seen this year have the colts in the 7-10 range for the entire NFL....    We're clearly better than where Rosenthal has us....     and I think that will be borne out over time....

But,   I'm always fine flying under the radar.....

Obviously, I'm thrilled to see the Ravens there , but they have severe cornerback injuries which could derail the season. Webb has been out for a long time with a bad back, and now Smith is injured.

Not buying the Ravens or Steelers. I think Bengals win the division and no wild cards come from the central.

I don't care about power rankings, but these seem off, but again, I wouldn't let it bother.

hey come join us in the 2000's fish. There hasn't been a central division in a while. Lol

Just givin ya a hard time :)

Yeah I already saw this, those guys at NFL.com all share the opinion that the Colts are a below average team with a great QB in an easy division. We should be ranked #3 but I guess time will tell, I can't wait until the regular season games against Baltimore and Pittsburgh. Just like last year, the Colts will reel off a few very impressive wins and the writers will jump on the bandwagon. I love how everyone underestimates us.

Well, is that exactly what we are? A below average team with a Great QB in a weak division? We still have oline problems, running the football problems, secondary problems and God knows what else. We have a GREAT QB, one of the best receiving corps in the NFL and I think our kicking and special team units will be good. But those are serious weaknesses. Luck, like Peyton did before him, can carry this team into the playoffs but I don't expect much after that.

We have shown that when healthy that we can beat the best teams in the NFL, that makes us true contenders, and we got better during the offseason. National media, NFL writers etc don't consider us a real force in the NFL despite the fact that we've proven that we can beat the best of the best.

Played better in the playoffs? Six ints and giving up 80+ points. We were very lucky to win a game.

Yeah when we were decimated by injuries. We're still a young team, the more playoff experience we get the better we'll be. If you're a Colts fan you should be more patient. We're a team on the rise and sure, like anybody we have things to clean up, but I'm impressed with what we've shown and I think we've shown enough for people to consider us a true contender.
