Carolina Looks Awful

Carolina looked horrible last night vs the Pats. Bogie is right. I think the Saints run away with that division unless Atlanta rebounds. Newton has no one on offense and both Brady and Jimmy carved up the Carolina defense to the tune of 300+ yards and 3 TDs. Edelman had a field day as did Vareen. I realize it is still preseason but the starters played the majority of the game and the Carolina D was surprisingly bad and usually they go all out to beat the Pats in the preseason.

Yeah, where is that Panthers fan who was saying Cam will be just fine? I don't care who you are in the current NFL.

If they take the top 4 pass catchers from the previous season and send them packing no matter what the reason was, your QB is going to struggle.

I normally dont feel bad for professional players...but Newton really has no one to throw to this year. Its probably punishment for wearing that god awful sweater jacket thing a few years ago a post game.

Their offense wasn't even all that good last year.

They were ranked 29th overall in passing offense and 11th in rushing.

Their defense got incredibly lucky against teams that played down to them (Pats, Niners, Saints) and then in other games, they looked like garbage.

Lucky team that went 12-4 on lucky breaks.

Just imagine how great they're going to be with that division winning schedule and no Steve Smith, no weapons for Newton to throw to this year when he already struggled with them last year.

6-10.

Did you sleep through the last decade? The colts and pats ran away with their divisions almost every year

On NFL AM about 2 weeks ago they were predicting divisions and Eric Davis put a sign over "East" which said "Pats" making it the AFC Pats division since no one ever challenges them for it.

You get a QB like Cam and then have a receiving core that is defined as inept. How do professionals making very large salaries make decsions on talent that  puts them in the tank in their sport? We all make mistakes but all teams have at least a couple descent receivers.

The AFC East has produced playoff teams other than the Pats quite a few times over the years.  Its funny this misconception about how its some cake walk division..  Go look at the stats for each of the divisions in the AFC last year.. The AFC East was one of the stronger ones.

The AFC South was the easiest.

It's not as if Cam is one of those QB's like Manning or Brady who can turn mediocre receivers into top flight talent, he's not at that level yet. Saints definitely run away with the division. Drew Brees, a loaded offense, and Rob Ryan's brilliant defense. Panthers go 7-9 this year.

I am sure most of you all are Colt fans?

remember "PRE SEASON" with Mora, Dundy, and P Manning?

Did this group win 5 games total under the entire span?

It just doesn't matter.......      until the lights "REALLY:" get bright.

Week ONE is the first chapter for EVERYONE.

Good point but the way Carolina looked is the issue here given the moves they made in the offseason cutting all their receivers. The Colts always had offensive weapons but Carolina in the third preseason game where all the starters played looked awful. And of course Newton is no Manning. It may not end up meaning much but it would seem their O will have a tough time putting up points this season. Of course they did last year too and Newton had a better cast last year.

You didn't understand what I said? Ask me what you want to know from me?

The structure of your posts leaves me to believe you are 1 of 2 things: foreign without a full grasp of the English language, or a little kid. Not a terrible thing, but very difficult to understand or follow what you are trying to say without reading it a couple times.

Ok, thanks for the suggestion. I'll take care of it and will try to discuss each and everything clearly.

The meaning of my saying is that - that day was unlucky for Carolina, so that they got defeated by pats. It was very tough to defeat them.

Unlucky ? They got smoked, and scored one garbage TD with less than 2 minutes to go .

What the heck is unlucky about that?!

    • Was that the only good receiver taken in that draft? And did they give up multiple picks?
    • Yeah, I have no beef with MHJ as a prospect (I think some are pumping him up a little too much, and there's some name recognition probably influencing the way he's talked about). It would be awesome to have him on the Colts. But just like every other draft prospect in history, the possibility exists that he will not live up to the pre-draft expectations.    But during the pre-draft process, fans and media start falling in love with players. Terms like "generational talent," "future superstar," etc., start getting thrown around. And now we're talking about a prospect as if he's a lock for the HOF before he's even played a game in the NFL. That's fine, it's fun, we all do it. But that's different from actually scouting, setting a board, and making decisions for the team.   Each of us can point to a previous prospect that we loved and raved about and had them fitted for a gold jacket, but who bounced out of the league within 3-4 years. And the same is probably true for NFL scouts and decision makers. Which is why Ballard's comment today -- there is no such thing as a perfect prospect -- is so important to remember. I'm not against the team identifying a guy they really want and going up to get him, but I hope they're not just doing it with stars in their eyes.
    • Would Cincy have made the SB without taking Chase at #5. I got the answer, and it is easy, it is a FAT NO. They would have never got by KC as great as Burrow is. Giving up next years 1st round pick isn't the end of the world to land a generational WR. We still have picks in rounds 2-7 if we did that.
    • Definitely was, but essentially all of them received the same punishment initially.     Just thought it was curious, especially right before the draft. Has to put the CB spot for the Eagles in limbo.     Been wondering if Jontay Porter's NBA lifetime ban had any play in the decision.   Rodgers did bet on his own team.
    • sure hope he does we need a game changing pass catcher
