@WillGravesAP: #Steelers RBs @LG_Blount @L_Bell26 to face charges on pot possession. Bell also to face DUI charge after getting picked up this PM in Ross.

@WillGravesAP: Ross police say traffic officer detected smoke coming from Camaro operated by Bell, who was taken to hospital to have blood drawn for DUI.

@WillGravesAP: Cops say there were about 20 grams of pot in the car. All 3 passengers (there was a female in back) claimed possession.

@WillGravesAP: Charges will be filed through the mail. Both crimes are misdemeanors.

@WillGravesAP: @bomani_jones I just know what the cops told me. Said cop was on a motorcycle. Noticed the odor. Followed the car. Pulled them over.

That sounds a little like racial profiling to me. 1pm hot and humid no AC in that car? Who smokes weed with the windows down?  A good attorney will get the charges to go away but the damage is done.

I don't know if we can assume anything.  I mean, its Pittsburgh, not Carmel.  If the Pitt cops pulled over every car just because it had three black people in it they would run out of cops by 9am.

Just stupid people profiling, had they been Asian and stupid....same result.

So a cop smells weed. Pulls them over. They have copious amounts of weed on them. Which confirms his suspicion of weed.

But racism? And easy to get charges to disappear?

Seems like Blount isn't in any trouble at all.

@JasonLaCanfora: Blount is traveling with the Steelers according to a source. Was not arrested and was told he could call someone and leave the scene

@JasonLaCanfora: Again, from what I'm told Blount is not facing charges from the incident today.

What do we think Le'veon is looking at suspension wise? I just drafted him in fantasy, and I'm rather disappointed...

 

Well, Ray Rice got two games for punching his wife in the face, so I'd expect at least a 2 season suspension for LeVeon Bell.

I should have been more clear. I am not saying I am buying it but it would seem his best defense.

The only way it is a legal search is if the police could smell the pot. The defense will try to prove that on a hot humid day in August the windows up no way the police could smell it etc. That seems reasonable.

His defense will be racial profiling illegal stop and search. I am going to guess its his first offense charges will be reduced or suspended imposition of sentence.. Unless having less than an ounce of weed is much more serious than it is in AK.

It's not even a crime here ti have less than an oz in possession unless its in seperate bags. the DUI is the charge they need to make go away best way to do that is illegal stop.

I was doing an impersonation of the legalize weed crowd.

Most arguments I hear about why it should be legal go back to the idea of property rights, not the prison industrial complex or anything that might actually help improve the better of society in the long run, but in favor of making money off of something.

I was doing an impersonation of the legalize weed crowd.

The fact we are using police time and money for nonviolent and non harmful weed is ridiculous. We are crowding our prisons with people who don't pose a threat to society. Plus taxing it brings in much more money to the government and brings down violent crime associated with dealing it.

Never heard a person say property rights are a reason for legalization because property rights are more upheld by conservatives and weed legalization is more liberal, that doesn't make sense.

So do you think if they had turned around and hit the female passenger they would get a reduced suspension?  Sarcasm.  Sorry, Rice's short suspension still irks me.

A Camaro isn't air tight. This is why they couldn't just turn it into a submarine and make their escape along the river bed.

But they aren't drug tested year round because they're not at the facility, right?

The two Steelers were caught smoking weed during the exhibition season...right?

With a bag of weed in the car during the season..got arrested for it..

Isnt that different from failing a drug test? I dont get the thinking.
