lol. why was TY hilton jamming his finger even reported? on the other hand, we really can't catch a break with our O line. Drafting Mewhort is already looking like a great decision.

Because, when the injury first happened he had his hand wrapped and no one knew how bad it was, or that is was just a jammed finger so most wanted to know his status ... glad it turned out only to be jammed finger.

do you understand what the training staff does?

Fine then, whoever is supposed to prevent our players from getting injuries should be fired, is that better? Pretty sure Thomas is out for the year already. With Ballard and him we will as many major players out with season ending injuries as the rest of the league put together (Kendall Hunter and Aaron Ross being the other two). It's becoming a joke.

there is no magic staff of people that can prevent injuries. Also there are more than two other players league wide gone for the year

That job description doesn't exist.

Thomas was coming back from a severe injury. Ballard, too. The odds were always against them having strong years. I'm surprised Thomas was cleared for the start of camp. It sucks that they're hurt again, but it's no one's fault. Also, there are a ton of other players hurt already, not just the two you mentioned. People get hurt playing football. That will never change.

Those were the only other two that have made news during camp, everyone else is insignificant and was most likely going to be cut anyway. You can say there is no magic staff of people who can prevent injuries, but the same staff last year gave us the most injuries of any team. Also, we have been playing relatively soft to avoid injuries and it still happened. Obviously the stretches and conditioning drills aren't doing much good. Can't catch a break, happened last year, is happening this year, and it doesn't seem like bad luck anymore.

The fact is, it is bad luck

That's the toughest blow. It was a week ago everyone was so elated that he was already practicing, seemingly well ahead of schedule, and now he may be done.

I feel really bad for the guy if this is as serious as it sounds.

Yup. In a way, it validates the staff's overly cautious approach with other players. Not saying that Thomas wouldn't have eventually gotten hurt if he had been held back for a while, but he wouldn't be hurt right now...

Every position we went in to the off season with great depth, has taken a hit.  Donald Thomas on the Oline, Vick Ballard at RB, and Lavon Brazill at WR.  As long as we don't have any more season ending injurys we will be fine.  But geesh.

Does not sound good for DT

Well, I suppose it is better to find out about him now instead of early in the regular season.

The Pats let him go because of injury concerns...maybe they were right.

At least it allows the younger durable players a chance to show what they have and make the team.

It sucks that this happened to him again, but after a serious injury like he suffered last year it's rare to see players return to 100%. I wasn't expecting much from Thomas this year, it sucks but you'd rather have this happen now than in the regular season. Good thing Thomas has a team friendly contract. Probably wraps up his time as a Colt.

At the very least, we can say with certainty that our staff is getting bad info regarding the progress of our guys coming off serious injury. Just a few months ago, it was up in the air if Thomas would even be ready by the start of the season. To go from that to being fully cleared in a little over a month is unrealistic. I think it's reasonable to say his (pretty serious) injury wasn't managed, ideally.

I'm pretty much over it. Something has to give. We do suffer more injuries than most teams consistently every year. So much so, to the point that chalking it up merely to bad luck just isn't feasible to me anymore

Funny how once the injury bug bites a guy it often comes back  even if totally unrelated to the previous injury.  We have a lot of guys on this team that were bit by the bug last year (Ballard, Thomas, Bradshaw, Wayne, Allen, Landry, Toler, Davis).  If you rely too heavily on too many of these guys then you get what you get.

Until someone produces the voodoo doll collection, I don't know what else makes any sense.

I don't think you can say with any degree of certainty that the staff is getting bad info. Injuries progress. It's laughable that all us message board doctors could be better informed about Donald Thomas' status than the coaching and training staff. Just because we didn't think he'd be ready doesn't mean the team made a mistake in clearing him. That's very, very specious, at best.

And again, it's a no-win for the staff. People have been complaining for a week about the seeming over-abundance of caution with Richardson, Davis and Landry. Then when Thomas gets hurt again, it's about how we rushed him back.
