His ability to protect the QB is pretty handy as well--can't recall too many times when defenders got close to Andrew while he was on the field

That's worth a lot, especially combined with good protection skills.  If he proves to be at least average as a ball carrier, then that is enough to keep defenses honest and really opens up our passing game, with Trent himself in the mix of high quality receivers.

I think that is something that people overlook with Trent. He is probably better than Brown was at catching the ball and 10x better at blocking that's for sure.

It's why I'm optimistic about him. When he got the ball in space he was free to take advantage of his natural ability.

If the game slows down for him so that he can do that as a runner, he could still do some real damage as an nfl running back.

Luck's footwork will be no problem if the offensive line do their job. It's hard to set your feet when your are dodging and running most of the time.

Having Bradshaw out really hurt. The guy was the #1 rated blocking RB in the NFL going in to 2013.

It's really the only thing he has been good at to this point. When he catches the ball in space he is dangerous. He's like a big version of Darren Sproles. I agree with OP's assessment.
