Falcons sign Pat Angerer.

Good luck to Pat Angerer. I ran into him at a cookout of my friend's in Brownsburg, also ran into him in the Lowes in Brownsburg before the Bengals game last season. When I spoke to him at the cookout, he said he has his eye on the Cowboys or Bucs as a good fit. Apparently, Mike Nolan is going to play the hybrid too and there will be enough sub packages he can be used on, and if not, just special teams.

Tough gig, being in his shoes, or for that matter, any fringe player. School starts on July 31st for the Brownsburg schools. He probably might just be renting a place close to the Falcons and sell his house only if he makes the 53 man roster, I am guessing.

I'm a big Angerer fan.  He was a great player and always gave 100% when he played.  When healthy, he's a speedy tackling machine.  Best of luck, Pat!

Im a fan of Angerer too sadly he just didn't fit in the colts 3-4 defense but I think the falcons just got a player that will thrive in mike nolans defense and best of luck to him hope he can final shake off the injury bug.

Why would they sign a below-average player coming off of micro-fracture surgery?

Seems like a no-reward type situation. Even if he somehow manages to miraculously come back from micro-fracture surgery, it's not likely he's going to give you anything even average.

You ought to watch a game or two and pay attention to the Falcon's interior LB play, Angerer is, even if exactlyas you describe, an improvement to that position.

No reward?   I think this signing is quite the opposite.   Low risk high reward.   They didn't give him a big contract and if he plays anywhere near like he did in the past, they win.

You prove your lack of football knowledge by saying he was a below average player.

Nah, Angerer is pretty bad. Always has been. Small, slow, imnjury prone, can't cover, drag down tackler, ect... the real people with the lack of football knowledge are the knes who thinks he was good because he had a lot of tackles.

Cause tackles are not important.

Nope. They have no correlation to good LB play.

You really believe that?

So you wouldn't consider all these guys above average NFL players?

The tackle leaders from last year.

Nice article, but completely meaningless.

Here's a top 20 list for you.

So you still stick by your comment that tackles "have no correlation to good LB play"?

This list proves you wrong.    It shows that tackles have a very strong correlation to good LB play.

Ughhh, let's use so common sense here. Most of those are good-great players. Good-great players play for a long time. LBers (and DBs) that play for a long-time get a lot of tackles.

This isn't hard.
