Hey guys, my 2 boys and dad are making the trip with me for our first camp! We are from NC and the weather keeps changing on the forecast there. My question, if it rains or storms, do they usually cancel or move indoors? Any input that can help our 9 hour trip be as smooth as possible would be appreciated. Thanks guys and ladies, Go Colts!!!

I've never been there myself personally.

I would doubt that they cancel for raining, you have to play in the rain if it rains.  Some coaches might view it as a good thing to have practice in the rain.

Storming I think if the winds are high enough and there is lightning then they would probably either cancel, postpone or move indoors.  The practice field looks like it's a pretty open field so I wouldn't want to be out there with lightning and I would assume super high wind gusts would make practice pointless.

Good luck and have fun.  I doubt I will make it down there this year.  We had thought about going this weekend but someone at my wife's work quit suddenly and they had to rotate the on-call schedule and so she's now on call this weekend and couldn't travel.

Also our kid has been having problems being in the car seat for more then 20 minutes without having a melt-down.  (He's 1 today)

I went a couple times last year. It poured one of their practices. It is a great time no matter what but when you get their there is a practice field and a college game field. If it rains that will stop the practice and move over on to the college game field where you can sit in large bleachers.. I don't think they will cancel a practice unless there are severe storms all day!

Hopefully it will be a good day, Just bring your rain gear just in case, I'm sure it will be fun no matter what!

Thanks guys!! Looking forward to this, always have wanted to come there. I have seen the colts play in Cincinnati, panthers, browns in Baltimore, and Peytons rookie year in Atlanta.

Also if for some reason it gets cancelled one day there are tons of places you could go in the Indy area to entertain the kids....indoor water parks/zoo/children's and regular museums, and of course you have to check out Lucas Oil Stadium!!!

I am heading to Anderson for the first time also with my two kids.  I am looking to get some signatures, hopefully from Andrew Luck or Reggie Wayne.  Robert Mathis is on that list but I believe he won't be able to be there due to the suspension.  I was wondering from those that have gone to training camp before.  What is the best day to acquire signatures?  I had heard to go the first day of practice and I have heard to go to the first night practice with takes place on the 31st.  I also heard to go the last day of training camp.  I was just wondering because we are coming from Fort Wayne and it is a pretty good drive to get there.  I know my children and myself will enjoy it anyways but if we could get signatures also, it will be a memory that will forever last with my kiddos.  Thanks for reading everyone.

    • Ranked 28th? By what metrics, genuinely curious because that seems incredibly low. They were top 10-15 in most statistical categories...   We have two young but promising corners, loading up on defense when you don't even know what you have in a quarterback just doesn't make sense to me. You do everything in your power to make that quarterback successful because that in itself gives you the BEST chance for success. You go as your quarterback does. Not you go as your corner does, or your safety or your edge rusher.   I'm not saying defense isn't important but it's less important than putting pieces around AR and giving him the biggest chance to be successful. Look at the Jets...could've easily been the leagues top defense with the amount of play makers they have on their roster...Team didn't go anywhere because they couldn't score.
    • The reason I dont like going with a Defensive end this year is I dont see a big upgrade over what we have.
    • The Chiefs defense was absolutely elite last year and made up for a mediocre Mahomes (by his standards). Also, there are rankings to determine if defenses are good, bad, mediocre, and all that. You don't just get to say the large majority of defenses can be considered mediocre, stats and rankings prove otherwise. We don't go by the eye test anymore. The Colts had the 28th best defense last year. Those are the players we re-signed. I understand there were injuries and Stewart was out for 6 games (which hurt the run defense), but the secondary was terrible, and we should have traded for Sneed.    You do need an elite defense in the playoffs. The Chiefs beat the Bills, Dolphins, and Ravens in the playoffs with their defense last year to get to the SB. The Colts won their only SB with Peyton Manning because of their defense. The Broncos had Peyton Manning in the SB Vs the Seahawks when he scored 55 TDs that year, and they got destroyed by the Seahawks defense in the SB.   Defenses win Championships.
