Training Camp Storylines

A thread below got me thinking on what coverage you guys would like from Colts.com

Obviously, we can't make any promises but I thought I would try and gather some ideas to see if there are specific storylines/angles you want covered up in Anderson.

Feel free to respond with any suggestions and we will go from there.

#1 for me is the development of the O-line, and how this is going to be tantamount for the success of this offense!

#2 how much is the D going to improve, Line? LBer's? DB's especially at safety! How is this going to shake out?

#3 when it gets down to the final 53, I'm afraid we are going to see some very good players go elsewhere.

Going to be interesting!

Can't Wait!!!

P.S. Thanks for what you do!

Progress of the O Line who is running with first team, where, and  how they look. What does Holmes look like.

Back end of the D I am interested to see what if any development in Price. What does Cox looks like in pad? Anyone else on the backend stick out maybe Dewey or Purifoy.

Of course T Rich what does he look like is it coming together are they using him more as a receiver out of the backfield? Who is the FB any 1 back sets ratio,.

Rogers development is he catching the ball?

Does it look like Werner can play rush backer if not who?

Any game breakers on punt returns or we going safe?

All things related to the hand to hand combat.
Players discussion/pictures working at the craft.
Off season programs/mentors they have used to improve at this.

All things related to both lines.
Players perspective/ some details on how they have physically prepared themselves for playing at a high level.

Time spent & some of the drills or lifting they have given focus to that they have found are most important for them to compete at this level.

Interesting stories of past and present Coaches, workout buddies, motivators that helped them make the leap to this level.
Stories about how their mental and physical process has developed/changed, particularly over the 1st few years.
What they thought they were/knew coming into the NFL, and what they see about themselves looking back.

I would like to know/see what the Teams facilities are for film study. Group and individual study. Can 10 DB`s watch tape on their own? Something on what position room study is like? The interaction. Are rookies brought up to the board and tested in front of their peers. Vets input. Something from the coaches on how instruction/learning pace works with the newbies.

We have some really good prospects, drafted and UDFA. Yes the Vets deserve to be covered first/most.
But video interviews etc. with these kids regarding their working hard and some of the new friendships and outside activities they are experiencing in the Indy area would be fun to hear about.

This, but I'm also interested in finding out which receivers are getting more snaps, what formations were using on offense (ex. Are we running more 2 tight end sets now that Dwayne Allens back , or doing a lot of 3 wide sets with our great WR depth?).

Wide receiver depth chart as well. Is it: Reggie, TY, Hakeem? Or Reggie Hakeem TY? Or something else.

Thanks man.

I like to see how Jack Mewhort looks and progressing and also how Holmes looks at center and our o-line overall.

  • 2 weeks later...

Please limit the coverage of Andrew Luck and Reggie Wayne.  There is going to be enough of that in the public media.

Please focus on things like O-Line competition, Dline, LB, and DB competition.  There is probably going to be interest in Moncrief's and Roger's progessions as well.

I'm interested in how good does Harvey look at FB?

Who's returning punts/kickoffs?

Who looks the best (not named Davis) at CB?

Who is starting NT/who looks the best?

Who is starting LT, since Thomas won't be ready (most likely)? Mewhort?

Thanks Kevin!!!

The progression of the o-line is tops for me, and a lot of other people so it seems. I also want to see how the older guys like Reggie, etc... work with the newer/younger guys in trying to bring them up to speed with an emphasis on guys like Moncrief, Mewhort, Newsome, Jackson since the are all rookies.

No need, Because there is no battle!

I beg to differ, a lot of talk about Harnish pushing for a roster spot, and there's only room for 2 QBs.

I'm not saying his chances are great, but there is a battle.

from?

From what I've heard from the coaches interviews and it just seems like Harnish is ready after 2 years to at least contend for the backup job.

I like Harnish honestly I think he could be a serviceable QB but he won't make the team this year. Next year maybe this year NOPE!

The odds aren't with him, but the Colts can save 2.25M if they waive Hasselbeck. Not saying they should do that, but just throwing it out there.
