Looks like you left out Kony Ealy. He should be a first round pick, likely top 20 pick according to Bleacher Report.

Not bad. I can stomach Bucannon.

I have a feeling that whoever ends up drafting Ryan Shazier is getting a steal, particularly in the 2nd round. I felt he was underrated at Ohio State, and I feel he is not getting his due leading up to the draft. Great size and speed. Should have a tremendous impact wherever he lands.

It was Ealy. Thank you.

I would be happy if  Bucannon was there at 59.  This board is way to high on Brooks being able to tackle is very important part of football not interested would rather get a guy like Dontae Johnson or Exum both of whom can play all over the back end.

Bucannon is underrated can play either S position

.

underrated ball skills:  Also showed improved range and ball-skills in 2013, recording a career-high six interceptions in 2013 to give him 15 for his career... Enjoyed a solid week of practice at the Senior Bowl.

With a 78-inch wingspan, Bucannon also had the widest of any of the safeties measured.

“Those are probably a lot of people who haven’t watched me,” Bucannon told detroitlions.com during a pre-draft visit to Allen Park on Wednesday. “They see my frame (6-1, 211) and think automatically, 'lets throw him in the box.'

“That’s why I’m real thankful for guys like (Seattle safety) Kam Chancellor (6-3, 232), who shows bigger safeties can cover. That’s really opening other people’s eyes. When coaches ask me what I am, I feel I can play both.

He impressed scouts, coaches and front office personnel with a 4.49 40-yard dash, a broad jump of 10 feet 6 inches and a vertical jump of 36.5 inches. He also bench-pressed 225 pounds 19 times. All of those were tops for SS at the combine. He is strong fast hits would really help our back end.

From a physical standpoint-Bucannon is very impressive. And if he makes contact- it sounds hard.

With that being said- that is a huge IF. In a lot of the videos I have watched of Bucannon, he misses tackles or he gets faked out and he could be better in coverage. To me,Bucannon reminds me of Bernard Pollard.

Exum or Johnson would be better at Corner in my opinion.

The reason why people on this board like Brooks or Jimmie Ward is because they can tackle and cover very well.they both remind me of Eric Weddle and Jairus Byrd respectively.

The only ones within our reach over 5'11 I may consider is Craig Loston and Jonathan Dowling.

The safety's I would look at are Bucannon, Joyner, and Vereen in the later rounds. Buccannon can play FS for a year or too until Landry finally leaves, and then move to SS. Vereen is a SS guy who can also play slot corner. Id take him later in the 4th/5th if the top safeties are all gone.

So Bucannon hits hard but misses tackles and is not good in coverage... Sounds like a perfect fit for a Colts safety!

Ward is a probably a first round pick Brooks in not even in that class not even close probably a 3rd round pick. Bucannon is a better player than Brooks and a much better tackler he is stronger can play both S positions. I am not sure what tape you are watching  If you think Brooks is in the same class as Ward or is a better player than Bucannon. That is laughable.

Exum could and has played all the positions on the back end. He is a bit of an injury risk not a guy I'd look at in the 2nd or 3rd without a 4th he is probably gone.

I like Johnson as a CB too think he could eventually take over for Toler  but like Exum he played all the positions on the back end played S in 7 games last year at S and could provide help anywhere on the back end for us. That is what is good about them they are versatile. Johnson is someone I would consider in the before Brooks for sure

There are videos of Bucannon  and Brooks.  I haven't watched them all, and certainly the real scouts have more, but my impression is that Bucannon is too often taken out of the play by a single blocker.  Brooks by contrast is a revelation.  I know he played for a top defense and may have been helped by the others, but it becomes clear that he was the heart of that defense.  People around the team say the same thing.  On running plays to the outside, you see the play developing and watch the blocking and all of a sudden from off the screen here comes Brooks like a meteor and demolishes the runner.  Be nice to see from the Colts run defense.

That said, I don't think he will be there at Pick 59.  Deone may well be available and that would be OK.  There is another thread on Marcus Smith DE/OLB and I have been persuaded that he will be the pick if available.

As for Pick 90, what about Pierre Desir or Jaylen Watkins?  Both are big enough to play safety.  The knock on Desir is his small college background and lack of technique.  He ran a 4.59 at the Combine and a 4.52 at Pro Day, so you wonder if he is fast enough to stay at cornerback.  Watkins (6-0, 194) is a bit smaller than Desir (6-1, 198) but ran a 4.41 at the Combine.

Loston I like for pick 90.     Dowling, for our 5th round pick.     But neither in the 2nd round.

That would be a huge reach.............

how is ward getting drafted before pryor and carr the second qb off the board?

I don't think either of these things is unrealistic.  Ward is definitely going in Round 1, with his coverage ability.  And the hard-hitters are going to be less valuable in the future due to the penalties they are drawing nowadays...  I'm not crazy about the Bucannon pick, as I don't think he's very good in coverage.  I'd be ready to kill the Chargers for taking Joyner two picks earlier, and I'd probably take Billy Turner, OL, N. Dakota St. in the 2nd, and the best CB available in the 3rd (Desir, Gaines, or Gaines?).  Honestly, once Joyner and Brooks are gone, I don't like any safeties until the late-round developmental guys (Darby, Vareen, Huff, etc.)  Maybe Dontae Johnson in the 3rd, though most seem to call him a CB...

Okay I have watched (again) videos of Bucannon. He is a better tackler than I initially thought but in the 5 videos I watched, he missed 7 tackles ( including 3 against CAL.) My worry about Bucannon is that he's isn't as good as a last man in open field man, a few of his missed tackles (like with Cal and ASU) were when he was the last man and it resulted in a touchdown. I do like his enthusiasm to go for the ball carrier but sometimes I will over-pursue.

As for Brooks, whilst I don't think he's better than Bucannon, he is a good safety and with him and Bucannon, its a little bit like apples and oranges. Bucannon can be a better in the box/run stopper but Brooks is a better deep help/coverage safety

I wasn't saying draft either at second ( sorry- the way I posted it I can see why you think I want to take them in the 2nd.)

To me I wouldn't mind Loston at 90 but for me, Dowling would be a 6-7 round pick.
