In a box in the garage in North Carolina. It was found by the grandson of one of the former team minority owners.

This was well before the superbowl era, but yeah, we now have the physical trophy commisioned for the Browns for that championship win. Theres debate on who gets it though. Both Canton and the Browns FO want it.

When the original Cleveland Browns moved to Baltimore and became the Ravens, a lot of the old ownership packed their stuff and left. The trophy wasnt an official issue by the league, as the NFL didnt give out trophies at the time. The players all chipped in to buy it for the ownership.

Meaning the trophy belonged to the owner and not the franchise, and when that minority owner died it got packed in to a box and stores in his grandsons basement.

I understand the ownership history, but you would think someone would have said "Hey, let's put that in a museum." Even if the team didn't exsist for a while they did fight to keep the name... so odds are they would try to bring it back.
