Joe Lefeged Arrested...

Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I'm sure there is more to this than we know for right now.

I suspect he'll get a 1 to 2 game suspension from Goddell (that's assuming the Colts don't cut him)

This is just the latest example of why the Front Office and Coaches absolutely HATE this time of year.   Players have too much time on their hands.    Bad things often happen.

True as this is,   some NFL players use their time wisely, and do good things during this down time.   Unfortunately,  we seem to only hear of the bad...       Kudos to those out there toeing the line, and doing the right things.

I know I am the first to enjoy a refreshing story...not all of this gang banger 'stuff.'

Charity is a very nice word for athletes to embrace.....and many do!  Yes Gramz....kudos to those who consider their position as role models....

These other guys need to go home......or jail...

And double ZOIKS...Gun related charges...he's done for a while.

And I would have got away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling police officers who chased me when I tried to get away like a scared little teenager who didn't make tons of money and didn't care about my integrity.

Not really a fair comparison to be honest, Compared to us there is so few of them, I think there is multiple issues

1.We as fans prop these guys up on a pedestal when in fact they are like us, they are human, they are prone to bad judgement just like you or me, No amount of money you throw at them will fix that (This also applies to what the media or fans put out about an organization)

2.Some people see dollar signs when they see these gifted athletes they dont see that these are just people and if they do they dont care

3.Some players are just bad apples, there is no other way to put it, Just because they are a good or even great athlete dont make them a good person

4.Many teams wont send a message to these players, Some teams will just practice and focus around the games on sunday and not take an interest in ALL there players be they a star or a 3rd string back up

5.Outside of the football aspect, many of these kids were not taught structure and have no contructive routines to occupy them, they come right out of college from the NFL and are given millions of dollars with no structure

The last thing I do is put these kids on a pedestal. I admire the accomplishments of a select few including Manning and Luck. On the other end of the spectrum, there are some that I believe should have been eliminated from draft eligibility after college, no matter how skilled they might have been as athletes.

yep thats what i read as well what a shame we really need safety depth and he played really well last year im worried now http://www.indystar.com/article/20130629/NEWS/306290022/Colts-safety-Joe-Lefeged-arrested-Washington-D-C-jail-confirms

We need depth at safety with or without a mediocre-at-best Polian-era undrafted player out of Rutgers.

I see this as a good thing.  Hopefully Lefeged gets released so we can sign a veteran backup who's actually good.

Too much time on their hands? We all make dumb mistakes? Poor judgement?

I am sorry fans, but the ONLY time you should be running around with gunsssssss...as in plural....is if you are a police officer....or you are going hunting.

This is not poor judgement from being too young or without good examples, this is a bad decision maker. If you are scared that you are a target for your 15K bling in your ear, or hanging around your neck...hire a body guard. If you can't afford a body guard, don't try to run around in 15K bling.

Too much time on their hands? They aren't 13 years old.

I have to disagree with you, Gavin. No, they are not like us....as in the average poster on this board. Most players have been treated like they are special, outside of the rules in schools and requirements for graduation. This starts at the junior high level...preferencial treatment. Staying out too late and driving while tired is bad judgement, walking into a party that you don't know people, getting a nervous feeling but remaining is bad judgement. Loaning your car to a friend who has little to lose in their life is bad judgement.

Carrying multiple weapons and running from the law is displaying bad character.

It's a good job we have got some other options at Safety for depth. Not very good options but nether the less, options. Like the new UDFA's and people like Sergio Brown.

I don't live in America and don't know the exact penalty for gun charges but it is still serious i presume.

I hope he doesn't get cut but if he goes to prison he will be but at least imo we have a second option.

Police say they found a handgun in the car that authorities believe belonged to Lefeged.

If he was riding in the car, and the driver fled without his permission, that is indeed bad judgement, but not as bad as the earlier report sounded.

LOL u nancies need to calm down. So he had an evil gun. Big whoop. Let's get all of the details before we go Patriots* on him. ;/

I usually agree with ya....and I am a gun lover.  I don't carry my entire arsenal on a trip to the bar scene or visit 'friends.'....and anybody who knows me knows.....I in no way resemble a nancy!   :)  There is a difference between protecting yourself and packing the posse!  Gang bangin has no place in the NFL.....or any major league sport.

"They" want to increase gun laws anyway. It's only a matter of time.

I am all for licensed weaponry!

I am amazed Lefeged puts himself in this situation right after Brazill 'flunked' his drug test!

I do believe Grigs and Pagano need to set a precedent....maybe I will find out more to change my mind on Lefeged....not good timing to be HIM.

A-freaking-men. I mean, these players have the opportunity of a life time and they are throwing it away. It kills me that our generation is so short sighted.

Our generation?  Getting arrested is nothing new to NFL players going back to the beginning. NFL players have been arrested for drugs, drug sales, rape, gambling, robbery, child porn and a long list of crimes. A lot of arrest were covered up by teams and the media didn't cover the stories like then do now. Years ago the media would write what the teams told them to. The media didn't have the access to the players they have now.

Yeah... there's a difference between carrying a gun and breaking gun related laws. It looks like he might have done the latter. Gun charges are very serious.

Hard to build the monster when pieces of the monster don't cooperate with the guidelines given by the Coaches & Front Offices

2 strikes already for the :colts: Off-season

First it was a Up & Coming Wide Receiver

Now arguably our next BEST special teamer behind Patty Boomstick

Actually good?  Lefeged was our best special teams player and our 2nd string backup. I am not sticking up for him but keep the facts right.

There's also a report that there was an open container of alcohol in the car.

Hard to say where I fall on this one. Could be that the driver was responsible, but it sounds like a nonsensical situation to put yourself in. Especially with the Aaron Hernandez situation that's going on.

Unless it's made obvious that Joe Lefeged was not a willing participant, I think this results in him being released. And that's too bad; I've always like him as a backup free safety, and he emerged as our best gunner (no pun intended) last season. But I think Pagano and Grigson are going to put their foot down in this case, and from a PR standpoint, that's smart.

the gun possession wouldn't mean a thing in indiana. all you need is a carry permit

Too bad he was in DC.

Joe is from Maryland, went to college in New Jersey. He should be familiar with stricter gun laws. And I'm not being a moralist, or anti-gun. Just saying that it's his responsibility to follow the law in the state he's in. Plaxico Burress wouldn't have done two years for shooting himself in the leg in any other city.
