I don't have the slightest idea how fantasy football works

It's pretty simple, really. So you draft players to fill positions on your team via a draft (usually a snake draft where it rotates, sometimes an auction where like an auction you try and get the players you want but only have a certain amount of points to do so. Depending on how many positions a league has (for example, a league can have 2 QB's, 3 RB's, 4 WR's, 2 TE's, etc) will determine the extent of talent throughout the league. A standard league is like 10 teams with 1 QB, 2 RB's, 3 WR's, 1 TE, 1 Kicker, 1 Team Defense, and 2 flex positions which you can slot in almost every position except usually QB, Defense or kicker.

Now the scoring for fantasy football is very simple in the standardized form. For a QB, 25 passing yards is a point. For a RB, 10 yards rushing is a point. For a RB, WR, or TE, 10 yards receiving is a point. A passing TD from a QB is 4 points whereas a rushing or receiving TD for any position is 6 points. The kicking and defense points are a little more complicated but basically that's the gist of it.

Andy had one already.

Fx Stryker Andy's isn't a fantasy football so to speak. You would have to ask him. It's like we just pick the winners each week and he keeps track of who is ahead at the end of the season. There is a Fantasy Football Section here on the forum maybe you can find an answers in that section.

Sorry Fx I guess I was wrong because I saw that Andy did have a Fantasy Football and he also had the other thing I was talking about I think. I know someone had that where we just picked the winners each week and the person that had the most wins at the end of the season won it.  That was what I was in. He must run both. That's a lot of work for Andy. I may be totally confused as to what I'm thinking about. Wouldn't be the first time. haha

You are correct lovely susie, Andy has a fantasy league which had 3 leagues in it and going down to 2 this year.  He also had the post with picking the winning teams throughout the league each week.   Looking forward to both starting up again.

I've been in leagues a lot longer than you've been alive.  You really need to join a free league on ESPN or CBSsports.  You'll have a blast.

The only problem is you start looking at games completely different.  I've had to convince myself that I always root for the Colts first and then for my fantasy team players, no matter who they're playing.  It's tough when your fantasy team guys play the Colts.

I would go as far as to say YOU have never commished ONE?

Am I wrong?

If so please tell me why YOU would welcome ding dong's into a "competitive" FREE league?

Not being a *....           but you wouldn't know that...  Would YOU?

Lol Colts fantasy football judge, jury, and executioner.

Easily.

1. Minka Kelly

2. Adriana Lima

3. Katrina Bowden

4. Selena Gomez (she's not hot but cute as #)

5. Jessica Alba

I think any positive list that starts with Minka Kelly is a good list, indeed!

I'm talking a Super Blue Chip talent!   A top pick in any draft!     A real franchise player!

Nice to know that at my age my heart can still get to racing!    (If you know what I mean!)

I commish a league every year, last year being an exception as I was moving and didn't have the time or energy to put everything together. But other than picking a time that works well for everyone to live draft I don't find them that difficult.

However, my comment to you was merely a joke, as I'm fairly sure the poster you were quoting was just kidding.

And for the record I had a friend who accidentally drafted a defense in the first round (dumb dumb accident not intentionally as he knows better) and he finished runner-up. One dumb pick doesn't always drown you lol.

Thanks Coltman51 at least I haven't lost my mind in the last couple of months. haha  I think I will stick with the weekly picks.

Andy can do what he wants...  but we had a REALLY good league last year ...     a "forum"  league.     But a couple had "pressing issues" and simply could not make the time to adjust the roster.... .

and their teams sucked....  imagine that ...

Point is we had ONE team draft ALL rookies...   that team should have been deleted ASAP  if we want a "competitive" league

And I personally think THIS FREE league could be VERY competitive....       it would be a feather on one's cap IMO,

Nothing kills a league like a guy who auto drafts, and never changes their lineup. Just brings the league down.

    • I just cant understand taking D line over a CB this year.  WR or Bowers would make sense to me   If the team doesnt value corners this way then maybe they should start.  I dont like to pigeon hole what we draft this hard but our secondary is a bunch of nobodies and our Dline is ok, better than ok actually.  We dont even have many snaps for a rookie unless they are a really good edge right out of the gate. A rookie DT from this class isnt beating Buckner or Stewart.
    • We see many coverage failures by all teams caused by miscommunication.  Certainly there are exceptional individuals that play CB but experience and intelligence are vital.  Flowers had size and 4.3's speed, and Jones was decent. Juju has potential but because of his size and speed he will always be successfully targeted.   We are desperate for a 4.3's stud that can cover anytime, anywhere. That was Rodgers BTW.
    • Isaiah Land he says.     Every year it happens. The Dallas Cowboys make some tough roster cuts and we all wait nervously to see if our favorite prospects make it cleanly through waivers. Most do, but every once in a while, a team will scoop up that one guy we were hoping made it to the practice squad. This year, that player is edge rusher Isaiah Land. An undrafted free agent from Florida A&M, Land dealt with injuries his final year in college, but had a remarkable season in 2021 when he finished with 19 sacks, 25.5 tackles for a loss, and three fumble recoveries. While there is a lot to be uncovered with him, he still flashed enough to draw interest from the Cowboys. Throughout the summer, the young edge rusher had impressed and it looked like the team had found another diamond in the rough. Land was fantastic during the preseason. In three games, he finished with 10 total pressures, which was the second-most of any player on any NFL team this preseason. He also finished with seven hurries on 45 pass-rushing snaps. He only recorded one official sack but finished with a pass rush win rate of 20%. Not only that, he had opposing tackles so worried about his get-off that they were regularly jumping early. There were several instances when tackles would get called for a false start.    Might as well be optimistic about  Woods and Land contributing to our resurrection.
    • Nice catch Stitch.  Year two of Steichen, our very functional TE group and Downs gives me very high expectations that we will be highly effective attacking the middle of the field. If we do add another WR to help complement the other side of the field, Pittman's ability to be even more outstanding only goes up. And I feel confident another guy will be added. Our offense should be very strong for 2024.
    • I'm hopeful Colts resign Blackmon and do this in the draft
