Completely off topic.

I know that you are knowledgeable about this stuff.  Wouldn’t we have had to pay him that 19 mill whether he was here or not?

Nope. His base salary was $14m. Because he's a vested veteran (4+ years experience), his base salary became fully guaranteed at the start of Week 1 of the regular season. Had we released or traded him before then, we wouldn't have had to pay that base salary.

The other $5m was the prorated portion of his bonus, and was paid years ago. So had we released him, there would have been a cap penalty (dead cap hit) of $5m, but we would have freed up $14m of cap space.

Ridiculous is the waste dudes you all thought he could play 3-4 and what a waste he was of time money and uniforms

Noone thought he could play a 34 . We were willing to give him a chance though . Besides a contract is a contract and should be honored . Trolls will be trolls

Freeney didn`t EARN his pay in 2011 either. Of course we should have cut him as a business proposition.

We could have signed/HAD better players than Zib, Olson, Link, that slough of Bad cornerbacks, Satelle, McGlynn.

A big majority of contracts in the NFL are not honored. It's the way the NFL works and I would bet that if the Colts had it all to do over again, Freeney would not have played here last season.

I think Irsay just liked Freeney and he paid him his last big check in what we all thought would be a rebuilding year.....

......we wrote off last year before it started....I appreciate that he was around for one last playoff game and he did contribute..He drew double team blcoks
