93's replacement

Recommended Posts

Rather have Okafor, Jordan is way to inconsistent and does not have the numbers that some of these other DE/OLBs have, he has a quick first step but has trouble consistently getting off his blocks also has trouble fighting through bodies laying around him, He can drop back in a short zone and cover reasonably well though , Inconsistent tackler though, I think he is a high 2nd round pick

I don't like that Jordan hasn't used pass rush moves once in his career. I also don't think he fits in a 34. Same goes for Okafor.

If we draft a replacement, one of the LSU DEs is likely to be available.

I got no problem with Montgomery or Mingo but Okafor has played standing up and at both ends and I personally think he is better against the run then either Mingo or Montgomery and as good or better a better pass rusher

Hahaha Gavin I'm just as high on Okafor, if not higher because I'm a texas fan but you can't just link the Oregon State game. He was a monster that game. Gotta show the highs and lows

However I do think he can play as an OLB, I'm just not sure about his ability to defend the run. He seemed a little slow at times

might not be a popular answer........

........ but i still like Ezekiel Ansah

I've seen mocks that have us drafting Ansah. I like Okafor a lot though, but I would rather pick up someone like Spencer or Krueger in FA, and draft Rhodes.

I agree. I have really grown to love the idea of getting Rhodes. I'm not impressed with Okafor at all and depending on who's talking about him, I have heard some downright terrible things about him. Not personal stuff, but as his play on the field is concerned. I have read different websites about him and heard Mike Mayok say very unflattering things about his play. One site went so far as to say he shouldn't be anything more than a career backup in the NFL. It as actually posted here at one time but don't remember where.

Xavier Rhodes, Cornerback from Florida State.

I just looked him up and he would be a pretty solid cb option. I would go with Rhodes over Banks if we draft a Cb. But someone else posted today in another thread and this could mean nothing or could mean everything but Grigson was talking on a radio show about the potential CBs available via FA. Now, if we take a free agent CB who would it be and again if we take a FA CB do we draft oline, dline, or freeneys replacement and who would it be? Also, what If we take Spencer and a CB in FA then where do we draft. These are questions Ive been asking my self and a few friends today and figured there are hunrdeds of threads relating to each question no need for me to make one specifically for my interest.

I prefer banks because he is more physical corner

I dont see why we have to leave filling corner until RD1 of the draft.

CB is the deepest position in FA this year. A whole lot of talent to spend those dollars on.

I would be dissapointed if we didnt address either our DL or our outside pass rush in RD1.

The answer for next tear can't be a rookie. Even if we get a good one we still need a solid Vet in FA. My rationale is that we don't have the veteran prowess at 3-4 OLB to develop a rook yet. Heck, Mathis and Hughes still need someone to show them the ropes. Im all for drafting one of the aforementioned; however, we need a Paul Kruger or Anthony Spencer. We could be legitimate contenders next year, and we can't gamble all of that in the hands of a rookie. Pass rush in a 3-4 is immensely important as we all know.

CB are expensive, no clear revis or sherman type shutdown corners....our money would be better spent elsewhere in FA. Getting a CB in 1st with goo set of skills to improve on, is a win.

Actually the more I think about it I could see Hughes fitting well into that move, he has a quick get off and a heck of a motor, if he works on stringing his pass rush move together and his strength, with being the full time starter (if that comes to pass) he could be a force.

Ansah is a beast really...I think he'll do very well in the NFL...sure I might be biased because he is from BYU which is my team here in Utah of course....but he really is something else.

As long as he doesn't end up concussed all the time like Collie then we would be ok (whoever they draft) :)

Jerry Hughes

AGREED!!!.....Using a 1st round pick on a player is a heavy investment. He has a contract, but his jersey stays clean enough to dry a car with. you can count the number of battle scars on his helmet with one hand, and his laundry bill is extremely low. This 2013 season, the Colts need to know, without question, what they have in Jerry Hughes. What can he REALLY DO. If he can rush the passer, and cover the TE's, we may already have what we need, in house. But if he's molded his game after DF, he's going back to the bench or may be traded. Here's a guy i wish the colts would've drafted 3 years ago, that would fill that void:

Dion Jordan is a one trick pony that relies solely on speed, he lacks pass rush moves and doesn't provide much in the run game as much as Okafor does. Okafor is the total package, stout against the run, can take on double teams, and can get to the QB in multiple ways. Okafor can play in the base 3-4 on early downs and can play with his hand in the dirt in the nickel and dime packages. I much rather have Okafor over Jordan and Ansah

You know what is essential for a great 3-4 OLB? A great 3-4 DE. We don't have that. Redding is great don't get me wrong, but he's no spring chicken and has missed games/been taken out due to injury. I think if we are talking #93 replacement. I'd like to see us make a run at Anthony Spencer. For the draft, I'm fine with Okafor, but I'd rather have Kawann Short or Sheldon Richardson.

Jordan is superior to Okafor, he is well suited for a 3-4, and no way he nor Mingo will be there at 24.

I doubt Jordan will be there but I think Mingo has a pretty good chance, but Jordan and his 14.5 career sacks in 33 career games  are in no way shape or form superior to Okafors 23.5 sacks in 42 games, Both are impressive and watching them both I like them but while I certainly would not say Okafor is the superior guy he certainly is the better pass rusher
