Why Your Username Part II ?

buccolts    2,471

1 inquiry & 1 comment buccolts: Colts=Indianapolis Colts Buc=Tampa Bay Bucs or Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA? I'm assuming the NFL Bucs in Florida correct?

1 comment: I like your avatar/profile picture. Where is it from? What was your inspiration? Not enough people where sophisticated hats in photographs anymore. Nice selection IMO. :hat:

Colts, yes (obviously), but Buc is for the Pirates.

And though it was always team first, Unitas & Clemente were my heros when I was a kid.

My avatar? It's a young Tom Waits. I've always been a fan. Especially of his low-life lounge singer bit in the 70's and early 80's.

I scoped out quite a few musical photos, and though this would be a good one for the forum.

I also thought no one would ever guess who it was, but IndyTrav did a while back.

Yep, it's not me, but I'm glad you like it.

I just took the things i'm most passionate about in life and combined them.  Colts and family.  I used to be Colt%man21 and I was paying homage Bob Sanders but when we had to sign up with the new forum I chose this one.  It's also my psn tag and email

2 very nice things to be passionate about family & Colts. Bob Sanders was a fantastic safety too. It's a crying shame his body physically broke down as soon as it did. Sanders was a difference maker on the field & a fine, upstanding young man IMHO. It's neat to see the variety of crucial insights into so many of the people that I call friends, not to mention greet new Blue Horseshoe fans on an almost weekly basis too. Very Cool!

I like your signature quotes too: "Be yourself, everyone else is taken (Oscar Wilde)

We need to replace random acts of violence with random acts of Kindness (Me)" Great advice too by the way!

haha no 100GFB, but my family usually wants to send me to exile on Saint Helena near the West Coast of Africa every New Year's with a 1 way plane ticket for some reason. Napoleon Bonaparte was banished there in 1815. Hey, if it's a cozy  Mediterranean spot for isolated emperors in the South Atlantic Ocean, the waiters there must make a margarita there to die for right?  :funny:

You were just ironically alluding to the shortness of his "story", right SW :D  It sounded a little mean - which could be why 100GFB asked you if you were from the Northeast. Reasonable assumption. For example all NJ school children have to get at least a "B" in "hand gestures" before they are even allowed to enter high school.

Lots of nice contributions to this epic thread MAC, but no explanation to the origins of your name?

1. You are Scottish

2. You are a big tennis fan

3. You like fast foods

4 It's an acronym for Manning and Clark

5. Somthing else

Worst . Show. Ever. I'd rather watch paint dry.

My parents gave me a one way ticket to "Krakatoa East of Java"! I didn't consider that negative but positive compliment as I was hot stuff! Think you're wrong as Magaritaville as it's the next stop past Clarksville!

The bad thing about my old username and email is that people would break the name down the wrong way, instead of colts hitman they would often say colt  hitman(but they would add the s in front of hitman) so needless to say that got old very quickly!

The first quote I actually saw on a car commercial, it was either Chrysler or Lincoln?

The second quote came after I had watch a bunch of coverage of the Sandy Hook Tragedy.

Thanks for the compliments SW!

If you consider house to be good, and like it, that's fine but it's far from what I would call one the "finer things in life". smh

Sorry to take this thread off topic; but as I was reading through it, I noticed that several of the males here have told us that their username is also their nickname.

I only know two women who have nicknames.  But, my husband knows several males who have nicknames  . . . a few of which include Slick, Bones, Shorty, Crusty, Smoke, Odie, Bodeen, Sugar Bear, Noodle, Brown, Skinny, Lofty, Doc, and Darrel.

I have often asked guys why they have such an affinity for nicknames, but have never received an answer other than "That's just the way it is with guys".  So, I'm wondering if any of you can give me a clue.

;) Yes, I was alluding to the briefness of the story that is true MAC. I wouldn't call it mean or a "reasonable assumption." Direct perhaps, but not mean, especially with "Just Kidding man!" written after it. It's how I was raised. I meant no disrespect to Andy. There is a difference between cruelty & sarcasm. My apologies Andy if what I said was not well received by you or if it personally offended you.

Thank you BHC. I appreciate your kind words on my behalf. Thank you. :hat: I have gotten into a little bit of trouble with my directness in the past on this site & I want to ensure that everyone's perspective or point of view is welcome even if the team or athlete they may idolize is not held in high regard by yours truly.

I enjoy reading your take on things & your Scotland background as well. I am intrigued by other countries, traditions, & cultures BHC & if I ever say something that does not sit well with you please don't hesitate to tell me my friend. Thank you.

Pleasure.....but I will call you on the small market bias that upsets you so.......I know what you are saying, but it is no different to life itself. Many are more priviliaged than others - and we don't like communisim, now do we?. It's the cycle of life. In sport, it is easier to resolve though, and less important. We are very lucky with the NFL, and the design to reach parity. I live in a socer world, where all the fat cats just get fatter, and it's ruining the game....but it is that, just a game.....

Women never have buddies, they always have just regular friends :)

Well my name is Tarken (no kidding, had it since I was born) and most people just call me Tark for short.

My line coach at school ended up calling me Tark The Shark and I loved that name so it just fit. Especially since this is a football forum.

    •   So can we be honest for a minute? I think we underestimated Melvin. I, personally, didn't think Melvin would see a roster spot, much less start over Quincy Wilson, who when healthy, had blanket coverage with slight mistimed swipes to bat away the ball. I am really happy for Melvin to have made such great improvement from last year when he was getting beat by receivers constantly, always out of position to now making 2 interceptions in one game. They may have been 'lucky', but he was in position to make the pick and has definitely improved since last year.    Our secondary as a whole, we have 4 relatively new players including Melvin: Wilson, Hooker, and Hairston. Going forward, I think our secondary could be much, much better than 2016, even without Davis. Not trying to blow the same horn, but Ballard has helped our franchise take a few steps forward toward a future championship. Defense vastly improved (still needs work) and 1-2 without Luck (same as with Luck last year), I think I'm beginning to see a light near the end of the tunnel.
    • Who is Beth Nowans? Ok I am just kidding KingColt, anyway once we started to play good the announcing didn't bother me too much.
    • Lamey is easily one of the best announcers of all-time IMO.
    • The fact that he's getting extended playing time is making this deal more and more favorable for us, coupled of course with the fact that he's playing well. It was assumed at the time of the trade that he would likely be on the bench, and if he did play, it would be a week or two, at best. He's getting ready to start his third game, and might get a couple more starts after that.   And he's clearly separated himself from any other backup QB the team had this year, especially Tolzien. He's giving us a chance every week, which is what you want from a backup. He has playmaking ability, and he's earning the trust of his teammates.
    • Grew up a coach's kid and started watching game film very early in HS(I also did a little spotting as a kid) and broke down Game film and developed Offensive play charts as a coach. Since I struggled to get on the depth chart( my health) it was my way of making the team better
