Speechless.... never expected him to do such a thing. Wow.

Edit: What about his draft stock now? Forget first round.. no one would want to bring in someone with this.

wow ... not sure what to say . . . i read part of the article but did not have time to read it all . . . i hope the article is a hoax . . . but it should not take too much to disprove it . . . so my guess is that if Deadspin is wrong this can easily be corrected and we should know shortly one way or the other . . .

That was a poorly written, wandering and WAY TOO LONG of an article.

A quick summary of events would've sufficed but this thing turned into a novel.

Based on the terrible presentation of the article, I would be suspicious of it's claims.

Isn't deadspin like the Onion?

No, that's Sports Pickle.

Deadspin is like TMZ, with real journalists/researchers.

agreed, so theyre telling us that a manti dated a girl who never existed faked a death, and he was never aware of this? i dont buy it, sounds like notre dames statement is saying he had ben fooled while the article is saying he was involved, which he had to be or this makes no sense whatsoever

He's not a good linebacker, anyway. He got smoked when he had to go up against NFL caliber players. I wouldn't touch him with a 39-and-a-half foot pole.

Hmmm, these are some serious claims then.

they arent claims, its all true, notre dame has already issued an official statement on it, the only difference is they make him out to be a victim, and the article says he was in on it, other than that, it was all a hoax

if this is all true and he was in on it he seems like a perfect choice for the jets to draft...

ikr? Even if the Notre Dame statement is accurate, it still knocks Teo down the draft board for being the most gullible person on the planet... reminds me of that movie "Catfish"... What I don't get is why he would continue to perpetrate the lie, knowing he would eventually be caught up.... I never read the word "*" in any of the scouting reports....

Anybody want to take guesses on why a Mormon football player would lie about a girlfriend that lives across the country?

I don't think that this story is fabricated. Could you imagine the career suicide this writer would be doing if he lied about a cover up about one the best football players in the country.

Between this and that Sandy Hook hoax video, I'm beginning to think the whole world is just one big farce.

manti's statement

"This is incredibly embarrassing to talk about, but over an extended period of time, I developed an emotional relationship with a woman I met online. We maintained what I thought to be an authentic relationship by communicating frequently online and on the phone, and I grew to care deeply about her. "To realize that I was the victim of what was apparently someone's sick joke and constant lies was, and is, painful and humiliating. "It further pains me that the grief I felt and the sympathies expressed to me at the time of my grandmother's death in September were in any way deepened by what I believed to be another significant loss in my life. "I am enormously grateful for the support of my family, friends and Notre Dame fans throughout this year. To think that I shared with them my happiness about my relationship and details that I thought to be true about her just makes me sick. I hope that people can understand how trying and confusing this whole experience has been. "In retrospect, I obviously should have been much more cautious. If anything good comes of this, I hope it is that others will be far more guarded when they engage with people online than I was. "Fortunately, I have many wonderful things in my life, and I'm looking forward to putting this painful experience behind me as I focus on preparing for the NFL Draft."

    • There's no one here who has pumped up the new coaches more than me --- and that especially includes Joe Philbin.       I get how important all the new coaches are to the teams success,   and of course that includes Philbin.   But we have far more questions than we do answers.       And since we've never won more than 11 games in the last 4 years and all of our division rivals are far improved from where they've been in the last 4 years,  then I simply don't think it's reasonable to predict.   Now.....   here's something I want to make clear......   I'M NOT SAYING WINNING 13 GAMES CAN'T HAPPEN.     I'M SAYING IT'S HIGHLY, HIGHLY UNLIKELY.   So, is winning 13 games possible?     Yes.     But the odds of it happening are incredibly small.   I haven't seen a predicting anywhere that has the Colts winning 11 games.    Or 12 games.    Or 13 games.   That makes your prediction one of a fan.    From a fan's perspective it makes sense.     But it doesn't add up to people who cover football for a living.    Who follow this stuff far more than you and I do.     There's no logic to it.      None at all.        That's why I called this fan-boy.   By the way,  some of my comments that you've responded to,  were not meant for you.     That were meant for another poster who jumped into the conversation.       Just wanted to clarify.   The fun starts next week!      Will be interesting to actually see the Colts on the field.   Good luck to all of us!!
    • I'd like to see the text messages released. She also has to prove he was there on whatever night she claims the attack(s) happened.
    • Indeed.  I'll put up a few snippets from the NFL/NFLPA handbook on the Substance Abuse Policy.  These are relevant as Bell was suspended 2 games last year for MJ possession and DUI, and thus he's officially in the Intervention Program--           So they get tested once in the off season, and never during the season... IF, a big if... you have never tested positive or been placed in the NFL Drug Intervention Program.  It's so easy to NOT get caught it isn't even funny.  But get busted with it, or test positive, then you are now in the program and can be tested multiple times anytime of the year for it.  This is why I have little sympathy for those who do get caught.  Tons of smarter Vets know how to 'play the game' and get to do what they want without repercussions...  Most_Of_The_Time.  They pass their one time off season test and Voila... home free until next year.  These are the only substances tested for in the off season (all year for Drug Intervention players)     This was to be a huge payday year for Bell too.  Now, between this and the MCL/PCL rehab mystery, I have no idea what his future holds.   Oh he missed "Many" tests!  LOL and SMH...   http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/07/23/report-leveon-bell-missed-several-drug-tests/
    • Up to this point on the oline I have been happy if the kids remember to get their hands up for blocking but this year we are going to start working on hand position, so a new drill we are going to do is called clapping the wrist.  It is a quick drill that will get their hands in proper position with thumbs up, it gets their elbows in tight to the body and to make the calpping noise you have to get your hands up their fast.   We'll see how it works.
