Aqib Talib.

I'd gladly take DRC over Jenkins and Porter. Get him out of that Zone (wNamndi) and let him play man as our #2. With Pagano coaching him up. He's only 26.

We need playmakers on this def so so bad. And he'd fill that void as a #2.

Quote from Bill Belichick*...

* After a thorough investigation, the NFL fined the Patriots** head coach $500,000 (the maximum allowed by the league and the largest fine ever imposed on a coach in the league's 87-year history) for cheating.

** After a thorough investigation, the NFL fined the Patriots $250,000, the largest fine ever imposed on an NFL franchise and stripped away their 1st round draft selection in the 2008 NFL draft.

What does the second part of your reply had to do with anything...

If flame war is what you want then gtho from the forums.

I'll say this about Talib.....     he's played exceptionally well for the Pats....   they reportedly love him and want him back.    Fine.

But, if we decide we're now interested,  let's at least make an offer and force New England's hand to pay Talib full price.   If the Pats want to keep him, make them write a big check.

I don't mind not getting him...   but, if we're interested, then I'd like us to make a good faith bid to make things interesting....

And yes,  my hypothetical here presumes we now have interest....   I have no idea if we do,  I'm just stating a possible scenario...

You are aware that when you say "make an offer" to insure that the Pats pay , that teams cannot contact free agents until the signing period opens in a couple of months. So the Pats will have time to negotiate with Talib without him knowing for sure what his market value is. At least that is the rule , it could be that agents talk to other teams and try to get a feeling. I wouldn't think this would be the case as it would be dynamite if someone ever blew the whistle.....

I decided that it 'had' everything to do with anything. If you don't like it, feel free to "Ignore" my posts. :)

haha You seem to be the one upset. I'm sorry if the truth hurts. But the fact that the Patriots** have won zero Super Bowls since Spygate speaks for itself. ;)

A decade is 10 years right ? If so the above is not correct.

    • Yeah, my wife would agree with you. She wants to move to Gulf Shores Alabama. We vacation there from time to time.
    • I am not sure Whitner would be beaten out by Geathers... Whitner has a solid career of playing at a high level.. Geathers has been a fill in and for me was our biggest single question mark in the secondary this year;  We'd be MUCH improved with Whitner on board and let the best player start.  I wouldn't count Whitner out on that battle.
    • Fact: Castonzo was lousy last year by his own admission.   Fact: We have a rookie Center who hasn't had a single live practice yet.  How often do people talk about the reality that you can't really learn much from OTA's and No Pad Practices?  Fact: We had Reitz last year as well as Mewhort (one of my favorite players) but the line was still lousy anyway. Fact: Thornton has not performed to date and is injury prone.  And to even mention Harrison's name PROVES we are in deep trouble if he EVER sees the field again as a starter on the O Line because he was by far the worst player on our team who saw action last year on the O-Line.     Look, everyone could play amazingly and we could have the best line in NFL history.  But history suggests if 4 of the 5 starters come back from last year's terrible performing bunch AND the fifth is a rookie who hasn't played a down or even had a padded practice yet, it is hard to suggest we are improved over last year.  There is no evidence let alone proof.  You guys are all hoping these guys outperform what they did last year.  That's fine, but it means nothing until and unless they do it.  Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results.   This is closer to that than a major upgrade to our O-Line.  I would have expected 3 new superior starters at C, RG and RT as compared to who started last year with a solid back up option at LT if Castonzo fails again this year.  THAT would be clear cut improvement.     Of course we all want the O-Line to play better.  I hope that Clark impresses and moves into a starting spot alongside Kelly who also impresses and kicks but.  THAT would be a start.  I also know a lot about Reitz.  He went to my high school and I am a fan.  But he's getting older and until recently was seen as depth, not starting level talent.  Reading about Kelly and all the accolades leaves me asking "based on what?" We'll learn a little during training camp and Pre-Season, but the truth will really only come in live action against Detroit.  It's just as legit to question whether we've improved as it is to say we have in fact already done so.  Let's have some hard evidence before saying "problem solved."
