It used to kind of annoy me when the Patriots or Colts would lose to some other team in the playoffs. Always felt like it should come down to those two.

Brady and Belichick will hang around a few more years, I think, so Luck and the Colts will inevitably get that rematch. Just a matter of time. I was listening to local sports radio this morning and they interviewed Herm Edwards... he was talking about Luck's season and saying, "imagine what he's going to be in another two or three years" after they get him some protection and build a defense. You guys must be psyched, you've got the most important position locked up for a decade-plus!

Super excited about Luck, but super worried about that O line! The kid won't survive that decade if his protection isn't seriously upgraded and soon. The Colts have come up short every time they've attempted to address that issue lately, which worries me more than a little, but I keep trying to remind myself the Grigson is here now and his best days aren't behind him like Polian's were.

I think line play is, more than most positions in football, impacted by coaching. Hopefully for Luck's sake the Colts will get that straightened out! Improving the run game would also help immensely. Doesn't really keep your QB safe when defenses basically ignore the possibility of a run. And Luck will improve in terms of his timing and his internal clock.

 

Lots to look forward to for you guys. And it was only one painful "bridge year!"

Holliday Healing, Practicing Ball Security

 

Wide receiver Trindon Holliday used the playoff bye week to heal an injured ankle, and is using this week of practice to make sure ball security isn’t an issue on Saturday.

 

The return specialist missed the team’s regular-season finale and did not take part in any parts of practices that were available to the media last week. He participated in the early portion of practice on Tuesday.

 

Head Coach John Fox will provide the team’s first official injury report of the playoffs following Wednesday’s practice.

Mike, I see a few notable concerns for the Broncos as they head into the game against Baltimore. Do you feel the injuries to Ryan Clady and Chris Kuper, the return of Ray Lewis (and other key Raven personnel), along with potentially adverse weather conditions make this match-up more difficult than we Broncos fans are willing to admit?

It's a difficult matchup, but not because of injuries to Kuper and Clady. They're healthy, ready to play. I believe the Ravens are capable of winning it all. Capable of beating the Broncos. Capable of beating the Patriots. Capable of winning the Super Bowl.

 

They are playoff-tested. They've won playoff games in cold weather, and it's going to be 20 degrees for the game Saturday.

 

If Joe Flacco clicks, watch out.

 

 

The problem the Ravens are going to have, though, is playing just six days after they beat Indianapolis. And that's a short week after the Colts ran 87 plays. After 10 weeks off because of a torn triceps, Lewis' 37-year-old body has to be some kind of sore this week. And they're coming here to altitude.

 

Ravens coach John Harbaugh has talked about altitude this week. He's coming in at the latest possible time -- Thursday night -- in hopes of minimizing altitude's affects.

 

I see the Ravens giving the Broncos all they want in the first half. The Broncos should be the better team in the second half. We'll see how it adds up.

honestly Peyton was loyal, did everything for us fans...why are so many colts fan turning against him? is not his fault that mediots are talking crap about irsay for not picking up peyton and is not his fault all the media about it...i swear i just dont get why so many colts fan all of the sudden dont care about someone who represented so classy our organization and kind of turn against him...i have heard in the last 5 months more about he cant win on the playoffs and is a choker than i did the last 7 years.

I'm with you. He did nothing to disrespect the organization. He said he wanted to come back. The bottom line is the organiztion decided to rebuild and didn't need his big contract hanging over their heads. The way they ended it, I truly believe that he and Irsay discussed what would be best for the Colts and what would be best for Peyton and both came to the same conclusion amicably.

 

If fans want to be mad at someone for the momumental collapse last season which precpitated the departure of Peyton Manning, then get mad at the Polians and Jim Caldwell. They didn't have a plan in place that would make the team competitive without their star QB. For those people that are mad at Peyton for being selfish... let's be realisitic for a second...Irsay wanted the next big thing (Luck) and wanted to rebuild from the ground up pretty much. That was not going to happen with Peyton in Indy. They both knew it and decided to part ways. Once a new Front Office and coaching staff was in place, Peyton's departure was a foregone conclusion.

 I agree, although I really don't see very many 'anti-Manning' posters on here. Silent Hill made his views clear, and gave a very detailed explanation, which is his choice. Are we not just over-playing this anti-18 stuff a little?

Yep, I understand, although he has 'choked' in games before. As has Tom and every other QB that has ever played at a high enough level where 'choking' is witnessed, recognised and reported on!

 

Maybe some are getting just a little too sensitive about it all. If he rocks on and lifts the Lombardi, you will see less and less of those comments....you know what people say...there is only one way to silence your critics!

 

My only caveat about him winning it again is the possible 'told you we should never have let him go' mess this place will turn into.

That is a result of a handful of posters choosing to believe what they want to believe about Peyton. Those were either on the fence or inclined to get back at the "incessant Broncolt fans", so they saw a chance and took it, and ran with it. They could care less of the authenticity of the sources. All of us here have opinions anyway, so as long as it is clearly stated as opinions, and one is honest about it, I have no issues with it.

 

Just dont state it like a fact and base your opinion on a supposed fact that in fact was an opinion . (now I need to go clear my head to understand what I just wrote, LOL )

I can guarantee you that it wont happen with me. I personally have stated that even if Peyton wins the SB, Irsay still made the right decision. The decision was for the franchise and the right one. However, I cant speak for the others.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and how they personally feel on this or any other subject. I think it's safe to say, I've always been honest and upfront on my feelings and my loyalty and desire to see Peyton succeed. Difficult to Duplicate

 

“It’s definitely a challenge beating a team twice,” cornerback Chris Harris said. “This team that we have, we’re pretty good, solid, overall pretty balanced. We know if we go out there and play our game, try to eliminate the turnovers and force turnovers, we think we should be fine.”

 

After defeating Baltimore 34-17 in Week 15, the team’s main priority is to duplicate the effort it produced in December. Because Denver got the outcome it was looking for, it’s possible that the Ravens will make plenty of game-plan changes, as they will be looking to turn the tables. With that in mind, Wolfe doesn’t expect to see many of the same looks he saw in December.

 

“It’s extremely difficult, because they are the ones to make the changes,” Wolfe said. “What changes do we make? What we did last time worked. We just have to adjust to what they do when the game starts.”

 

In addition to the changes the Ravens will likely incorporate into their game plan, the Broncos will be facing a team determined not to lose to the same opponent twice, which means they will need to be at their best in preparation for Saturday.

Like many others out there, a Denver Post columnist appears very confident the Broncos will take down the Ravens Saturday.

But the lead paragraph to introduce his opinion took what seems like a disrespectful shot at future Hall of FamerRay Lewis and the city of Baltimore.

 

“If this rust belt town needed a bib to catch all the sentimental tears shed at the last home game of iconic linebacker Ray Lewis, how is Baltimore going to handle the emotional breakdown when the Broncos force him into retirement as a loser?” asked Mark Kiszla.

 

“Whoa,” was the response from CSNBaltimore.com’s Ray Frager.

 

Kiszla continued a few paragraphs later,: “[L]ike Lewis, their very passionate but washed-up warrior, the Ravens now seem better at striking a pose than striking fear in the hearts of a foe.”

 

The columnist was unimpressed with Baltimore’s win over quarterback Andrew Luck, saying “big deal” that the defense “toyed” with a rookie. Would the “Ravens’ arms are long enough to box” Peyton Manning?

 

“Last time we looked in on Manning against Baltimore, the result was so ugly that the Ravens should have covered their eyes,” Ksizla wrote.

After the Colts, I have made it clear I want Peyton to win!!! Where have you been, man?

 

Besides, practicing in full pads, I felt, gave the Colts the edge to beat the Ravens 20-3 in the 2009 divisional round playoffs and I did not remember Dungy doing that. 

 

Did you not get what I was talking about? I wasn't talking about the SB we lost to the Saints, just the divisional round vs Ravens.
