Chris Johnson?

It appears as if the Titans have an opportunity to cut Chris Johnson this offseason...

Now do I think the Titans will actually cut him probably not...but I'm just saying if he were to become available this offseason do you think we should go after him?

Me personally would have been the first to raise my hand and say lets get him before the season, but seeing the way Vick Ballard has come along I no longer feel we're in need of a franchise back anymore. But still playmakers like Johnson don't come along everyday.

Titans running back Chris Johnson said this week he did not know whether his future included Tennessee. It's not hard to understand why.

The Titans have a five-day window after this season's Super Bowl, from Feb. 4 until Feb. 9, in which they can cut Johnson at no cost against their salary cap next season.

If Johnson is on the Titans' roster after Feb. 9, $9 million of his $10 million salary for the 2013 season will become guaranteed. It now becomes one of the biggest decisions the franchise will make this offseason, and one that will shape the Titans for seasons to come.

Johnson last week became just the eighth player in NFL history to run for at least 1,000 yards in each of his first five seasons, topping the plateau in Sunday's loss to Indianapolis. The others in that category are Barry SandersCurtis MartinEric Dickerson, Tony Dorsett, Corey DillonEddie George and LaDainian Tomlinson.

Johnson has missed only one game in his five seasons, and that came in 2008 when the Titans sat him for the regular season finale to protect him for the playoffs in his rookie season.

He is averaging 4.7 yards on his 223 carries for 1,037 yards for the season, seventh in the NFL.

We need to go into free agency with the sole purpose of rebuilding the O-line. 1st and foremost priority. Then add a SS, CB, OLB, then and only then, should they look to add anymore talent for depth throughout the roster. IMO, RB and WR should be the very last of priorities if they have any money left to spend.

just because vic ballard had a good game vs. houston, doesn't mean he is capable of being a full-time feature back or franchise back. he is good, don't get me wrong, but not great. Edge was great, johnson is a head-case no thanks,

Nope no wa, ya dont have to have a 1st round RB to be a succesful running team or even a top running team you just have to have O Linemen that are starting material and no folks just because we have O Linemen that are starting that does not qualify all of them as starting material

Johnson is very good in pass protection, just saying.

I'm also in the 'no' camp.

Part of the problem with judging RB's and how much longer they're going to be great is this....

Many running backs grow 'old' fast.   Sometimes very fast.

One year they're very good.    The next year good.    The next year not so good and so on....

It can go downhill surprisingly quickly for a RB.

Granted, from time to time there's a RB who goes to a new team with a better OL,  or he drops 10-15 pounds that he shouldn't have been carrying...   something changes and the RB is looking like his old self again.     That happens.

But those guys are the exception to the rule...

CJ is great....   but he's had 5 years in the League.   I'd focus our attention elsewhere....

    • Any chance we take a OT with the 1st pick?
    • FWIW:   Today I listened to a guy from The Athletic interviewed on ESPN.   (Darren Lee). He said interviewing GMs at the combine, almost all view DeJean as a safety except two teams.  He thinks the Colts and Jags view DeJean as a corner.     I don’t know this reporter, never seen him before, so I can’t speak to his credibility.  But it sounds like he did a lot of homework.     And I appreciate your view on pro day times being reliable or not.   I’m always skeptical on pro days.  But I thought DeJean helped himself on his testing.
    • I could care less what he does. Been too long ago.
    • I’m with ya..     I'm not sure we’re going WR at 15 either.  I think we could go DE, and it’s possible we could go CB as well.   Gosh,  I love Mitchell and really like Arnold as well.  And if we trade back I would be fine with McKinstry or a DE on defense or one of the 2nd tier of WRs that could be there in the 20’s.  So many options.   I keep reminding myself, every pick could produce a surprise, because I think Ballard will have so many options to choose from.      Im also not sure Ballard will use all 7 rounds.   He finished in 5 rounds in his first draft 2017,  and he finished in 6 rounds in 2019.   Maybe he uses all 7 rounds, but I’m not confident we will.     One week from tonight.
    • My Final Mock Draft   15. Brock Bowers, TE,  6’4 245 Lbs, Georgia - Blue Chip Prospect.  Rare combination of acceleration, speed and body control. Hands-catcher operating with good coordination and technique. With Pittman on the outside Bowers will control the middle of the field and seams. AR Will develop much quicker into a top 10 QB with Bowers as his TE.  46. TJ Tampa, CB, 6’1, 190 Lbs, Iowa State - Elite physical traits. Plays with good positioning throughout routes. Very good in press Coverage and Zone. Expect him to compete in training camp and be named a starter.      82. Calen Bullock, S, 6’2 190 lbs, USC - Elite physical traits. He has the range to play single-high safety, the athleticism to line up over the slot and the ball skills to chalk up impressive on-ball production. Expect him to compete in training camp for the starting S position.    117. Tez Walker,  WR,  6’2 195 Lbs, UNC - Elite speed with very good body control. Career average of 30.7 yards on touchdown receptions. Gives us very good depth and competition with Pierce.    151. Grayson Murphy, DE, 6’3 260 Lbs, UCLA - Shows impressive quickness and change of direction to help turn speed to power as a rusher. Good depth.    191.  Keaton Bills, G, 6’5 320 Lbs, Utah - Cerebral player, quick to react to twists and stunts up front. Very good depth.
