Peyton fans and Colts fans should thank Irsay for the win-win

8 posts in this topic

If Peyton were behind the Colts' O-line, he would have been sent into retirement much earlier, IMO.

I think he should actually thank Irsay that he got to choose his team at this stage of his career in order to prolong it. His quick release was going to compensate for only a bit of the O-line's deficiencies.

I have not seen a win-win situation as much as I am seeing now with Peyton going to the Broncos and Colts fans getting a new chapter to be stoked about in Luck.

So now instead of Peyton getting drilled, Luck is taking the hits.. ya.. win-win.

Manning couls still avoid getting drilled by releasing the ball quickly, which he does not need to do now behind the Broncos OL. No wonder why people kept saying he had lost the arm strength to throw deep when he was a Colt while now he is leading the league with completions of 20+ yds.

I would refrain from calling this anything other than a win-??? for another year or two.

Demaryius Thomas is No.2 in the league for 20+ yrds catch (Calvin Johnson is #1). This is the guy who was made by Tebow (according to some of his fans) :)

His development under Peyton this year is staggering. And he just started to scratch the surface. He and Decker would be even bigger threats next year. They haven't peaked yet.

I'm thinking that is the argument Jim Irsay used to convince Peyton to smile when he announced the decision to part ways.  Another team would give him a better chance for a ring sooner....but who REALLY knew Andrew Luck would be this good, this quickly.

I certainly didn't

Manning surely has better chance to add a couple of SB rings but for Luck it is not unrealistic for him to be this good this year. The schedule is easy and he's known as the most prepared college QB in decades, even better than Manning as a rookie. When I saw him tossing 2 ints in the pre-season game at Steelers and came back to tie the game in August I knew he was going to do some things for Colts. A real test for him is next year, hope the team gets improved and he could avoid a sophomore slump.

DT is a monster and probably the most potent WR Manning has ever worked with. If Manning can make Marvin Harrison one of the best ever, I don't think he will have problem making DT even better.

I don't believe these tall and physical WRs have been used correctly in the league, even including guys like Calvin Johnson and Brandon Marchall. Their QBs only throw the ball to their direction and let them make the catch regardless coverage. Had they been working with Manning they'd be even more productive.

If Broncos could add another DT on the opposite side through FA or draft and move Decker to the slot, this could easily be the best WR group in the entire NFL.

    • You wrote almost the opposite what I did Lol. But imma check out Anderson and tell you what I think.
    • Yeah. This a tough one. I agree with what u both said. Except the setting the edge part.   My definition on Settinf the edge is actually producing from the edge...something Tim Williams is great at and Charles Harris is okay at.    Tim has his head above the o lineman, and can blow up a sweep, by slipping, tossing, or simply overpowering him.    Harris is usually running too fast to blow up those surprise 2nd long and 3rd down runs to the outside. But he is sufficient on known passing downs.    Barnett on the other hand, can't push his man towards the runner, he can't disengage with his hands, he want use all the lateral movement he likes to slip and dip and shut down a lane.   He constantly keeps getting cleanly squared off by the taclkle on sweeps and slants.    And I slightly disagree with his field awareness. He tracks the qb better than the RBs
    • Reminds me of this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8515002.stm   If it was just a case of stealing the cart/buggy/milk float and going for a little joy ride I'd be more willing to overlook it. However when you throw assault and resisting arrest into the bag the incident does become a little darker.
    • Yeah I agree we need to focus our resources on Defense and I'll add RB too. But we can use a Big Physical WR opposite of TY, and Moncreif's rookie contract is expiring and we don't know what we have with Dorsett.
    • Assuming this is true.  It never ceases to amaze me that people are willing to risk their high paying jobs for stupidity.  He has a chance at making generational wealth and instead decides to get drunk, hit a guy giving you a ride in the head and steal his golf cart, smh. He is in the wrong entertainment business if he wants to do that.  He should become an actor, Hollywood doesn't seem to mind that type of behavior as much as pro sport leagues do.
