Confidence levels over beating the Chiefs?

59 posts in this topic

Considering it is pretty much the biggest must win so far this year I think emotions might be high this week.

This team has also bounced back after every loss this season well too.

How confident do you feel?

A tad uneasy.

Arrowhead is a tough place no matter how bad the Chefs are. They also still have talent despite their dissapointing season.

Not to mention the fact there is no pressure on the Chiefs while alot of pressure will be on these youngin Colts.

Like I said, root for the 49ers to beat the Patriots.

Texans will rest their starters for a half if they have clinched HFA and have nothing to gain in that last game. I bet they will.

Our best bet to win is always at home, so whatever makes it easy for us, I am all for it.

Heck no chad. We need to beat the Chiefs. I don't want it coming down to a divisional game unless disaster strikes. Besides, even if Houston plays starters so what, we can compete.

We need to beat KC in KC. And I know it's a tough place to play but we have played in a lot of tough places this year.

If we cannot beat arguably the worst team in football in order to secure a playoff spot we might be in trouble.

I don't care what the score is, get the win. I know the team will feel the urgency.

It's gonna be a long week waiting for this one. And I just decided we will win. I decided the same early on about the Lions game too and then didn't think about the game much until it happened.

I don't think it matters much to me what happens with NE/Houston and all that other noise. We just need to take care of business in KC, period.

Confident but not complacent.

We just faced down the strongest team in the AFC and although we didn't provide the upset, we kept it competitive, in their house. Our run game looked great, as did our run defense. With Dwayne Bowe on IR, we have only got Baldwin who could bring issues. And Jamaal Charles will have a test against our suddenly stout run D.

I have high hopes for the last two games.

If I were forced to place a bet on it, I would bet on the Jets and Bengals both losing one anyway, but I would rather wrap it up in KC and hopefully head to Baltimore.

Despite their road record, it might be better that this game is being played on the road.  At home, as favorites, there would be a ton of pressure.  They might be better off going into this with a bit of an underdog/road warrior mentality.

As of now, it looks like the weather shouldn't be a factor - mid 40's.

Quinn has a whole 35 yards passing in the first half against the Raiders.  I know, any given Sunday... and they are a different team at home.  I still like our chances.

Brady is gonna carve us up sadly.

Man...hard to say I am confident that these young Colts are a sure bet to win any game.  They are capable of losing to any team in the league in my eyes despite our 9-5 record.  We are young and inconsistent particularly on the road so while I expect the Colts should win...I am far from saying I am 100% confident that they will.

Chiefs have a sorry record but they do have Romeo Crennel who gave Peyton fits for years going up against the rookie Luck who will be seeing his defensive philosophies for the first time.  Additionally, the game is away at Arrowhead stadium, a very tough venue to play in regardless of who you are.  Chiefs are trying to play spoiler and have nothing to lose.  All the pressure is on the Colts in this one.  Hopefully they will be up to it.

Chiefs have talent. If we can pull it out it would be a win but still a win vs a team thats struggling to win much of anything right now but ya take wins no matter how ya get them and 10 wins and a wild card birth would be nice to

Arrowhead Stadium is a tough place to play.

I think the Colts could have easily taken this game today.  I don't think that the Texans and their fans expected a game this close.  One or two key plays and the game would have been different (thanks Mewelde).

I am 95% sure we win the game against the Chiefs.  I am a bit concerned that Luck seems to throw so many balls high lately.  But as was said, if we can't be arguably the worst team in the league, what hope do we have?

K.C hasone maybe 2 first downs today i am not even sure they got that.  we have to shut down Charles. i rather we had earned that spot today though.

After today....a bit uneasy. Our oline was horrible as always. Luck needs protection from those front guys and hes not getting it. Just cause the Chiefs are a losing team, doesnt mean they cant win. Its what Colts and Chiefs teams show up on Sunday. I m rooting for a Colts Win!!!

Remember the 14-0 Packers.

We need to pack a lunch and come ready to work. Take no chances. Don't get the least bit confident about beating them until the final gun sounds and we're up on the scoreboard.

KC is competing in the blow for Barkley sweepstakes, along with the Jags. Something tells me we can beat them, they where shut out by the Raiders today.

Colts just need to go in there, establish dominance and try to play somewhat error free and it should be a win. Then they need to beat Houston at home for some payback.

I did think of that too but then I thought to myself, "Are you really comparing these Colts to the defending SB Champion Packers who started 14-0 with that offense?."

And I said nawww. I know the Chiefs can be sneaky and I don't care if we win 3-2.

But, no way are we going to be as complacent as last years Packers who fell right into that trap game.

With Pittsburgh losing, a win by the Colts in KC practically guarantees the Colts will face the AFC North winner, not Denver(nor New England should they lose tonight).

I don't think overconfidence will be an issue with this squad. I fully expect us to beat the Chiefs next week and not give them the chance for any kind of upset. That team's packed it in and we've got so much more to play for. We made mistakes against Houston today that cost us, but we showed we could play with them. KC's not on that level. Plus, our guys know how to bounce back after a loss.

One win by the Colts, one by Baltimore, and they are practically guaranteed to play Baltimore, I believe.

KC is probably playing for the #1 pick more than to be spoilers... Our guys will bounce back... we haven't lost back to back games yet this year, have we?

true, they could snag barkley with the first pick of the 2nd round.

I think we will play Balt or Pitt in the first round... I'm getting Baltimore with the playoff machine, but a lot could come down to Cin vs. Pitt and Cin vs Balt in the next 2 weeks

Strength vs strength - our run D vs their run O. I like the Colts' chances vs the Chiefs that we will limit Charles.

Even if it is a close win, a win is a win. Just goes to show you how big the win at Detroit was. It is hard getting wins in December. Just making the playoffs with 10 wins would be AMAZING for me!!! :)

I dont think the Steelers or Bengals will win the division, it is still the Ravens' to lose, IMO.

Ravens have traditionally played well vs the Giants and I think they beat Eli at home next week.

Regardless, it is the AFC North we will most likely face and both Arians and Pagano have ample experience in the AFC North, that will bode well for us, IMO.

    • Yeah, my wife would agree with you. She wants to move to Gulf Shores Alabama. We vacation there from time to time.
    • I am not sure Whitner would be beaten out by Geathers... Whitner has a solid career of playing at a high level.. Geathers has been a fill in and for me was our biggest single question mark in the secondary this year;  We'd be MUCH improved with Whitner on board and let the best player start.  I wouldn't count Whitner out on that battle.
    • Fact: Castonzo was lousy last year by his own admission.   Fact: We have a rookie Center who hasn't had a single live practice yet.  How often do people talk about the reality that you can't really learn much from OTA's and No Pad Practices?  Fact: We had Reitz last year as well as Mewhort (one of my favorite players) but the line was still lousy anyway. Fact: Thornton has not performed to date and is injury prone.  And to even mention Harrison's name PROVES we are in deep trouble if he EVER sees the field again as a starter on the O Line because he was by far the worst player on our team who saw action last year on the O-Line.     Look, everyone could play amazingly and we could have the best line in NFL history.  But history suggests if 4 of the 5 starters come back from last year's terrible performing bunch AND the fifth is a rookie who hasn't played a down or even had a padded practice yet, it is hard to suggest we are improved over last year.  There is no evidence let alone proof.  You guys are all hoping these guys outperform what they did last year.  That's fine, but it means nothing until and unless they do it.  Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results.   This is closer to that than a major upgrade to our O-Line.  I would have expected 3 new superior starters at C, RG and RT as compared to who started last year with a solid back up option at LT if Castonzo fails again this year.  THAT would be clear cut improvement.     Of course we all want the O-Line to play better.  I hope that Clark impresses and moves into a starting spot alongside Kelly who also impresses and kicks but.  THAT would be a start.  I also know a lot about Reitz.  He went to my high school and I am a fan.  But he's getting older and until recently was seen as depth, not starting level talent.  Reading about Kelly and all the accolades leaves me asking "based on what?" We'll learn a little during training camp and Pre-Season, but the truth will really only come in live action against Detroit.  It's just as legit to question whether we've improved as it is to say we have in fact already done so.  Let's have some hard evidence before saying "problem solved."
