probably but we would not get much for them considering

1.Browns injury this year

2.Carters lack of carries this year (In other words teams would not have alot to go on if one showed some interest)

3.Brown being asked to share the load this year instead of seeing if he can be a feature Back (pre injury)

4.Also Carter has shown fumble problems in limited carries

I dont think taking on there contracts however would be an issue for most teams, Both come cheap if I remember right

There is literally no value for RB's on the trade market, especially for injury prone, midling talents like Brown and Carter have shown to be.

No way does Brown get cut in the offseason. He is our fastest back, he can juke guys out of their shoes, and his blocking is top notch. Re-signing him the following offseason is a different story, but he will be on the roster next year.

His cap hit goes up to $2.225m next season. He also has a roster bonus of $320k due on June 1. Not a big deal, and if we wanted we could renegotiate it before next season, but he's not exactly "cheap" in 2013. Dead cap hit if we release him is $200k, and depending on release date, that could be pushed into the 2012 cap and we'd be free and clear in 2013.

I think I would keep him, but try to renegotiate.

I don't see the point of cutting either loose. That means more of the dredded 'dead cap' money just for the privilege of cutting them, then you have to turn right around and sign someone to replace them who's just as good. So, they should cost roughly the same money to sign them.

So, in essence, you've spent twice the money to get rid of one guy and replace him with another guy. But you want to cut two running backs to replace them both. That's twice the money for both.

I don't think this is an effective use of our cap money.

No way we let go of Brown, unless he has a really bad MRI and there are many ligaments twisted and torn beyond repair with blood oozing out of holes left from the surgery and the only other way would be if the doctors butcher his surgery or use the wrong instruments and bungle things up and get mal-practice suits filed against them, and on and on. And besides, his wedding was beautiful and his bride was fantastic and all of that and how could we let him go??

Yes, but in this case, you don't even have to extend him to lower his cap hit. You can renegotiate his base salary (1.75m) and/or roster bonus and reduce them. He's not making that much on either, so even that is unlikely.

Yes.... sorry, if it wasn't clear from my post, that's my preference too... I don't think we're going to do better than DB or DC and so getting rid of them seems to be self-defeating from my perspective.

I like DB and agree with many of you who think that there aren't many backs who could have thrived behind our terrible O Line, it was a bad decision by Polian to draft any RB in the 1st knowing that we had pass protection specialists and scrubs in the trenches... With the current state of our line, it would be similarly short sighted for Grigs to draft a RB in early rounds or spend $$ on one in FA. I think Brown will play for us next year...

Moore is not excellent, but he is sufficient. His pass protection skills have always been very good, but he is average at best in all other phases of the game. I hope Moore gets the snaps to spell Ballard over Carter.

Carter might be a bruiser (although he hasn't shown much with the limited opportunities he's been given), but he fumbles far too often. I cringe whenever he is in the game because he loses the ball and he looks lost in protection. I hope Carter can turn it around in a hurry, but he isn't a very comforting option atm...

This week might be very rough if we do not pick up some yards on the ground. I think VB has the potential to do his part, but what about Link and the motley crew of jokers that we will employ throughout the game along the line? IDK about that, but I'd say that shoring up our Offensive Line should be our biggest off-season priority if we don't want Indy to be the place where Half Backs come to die.
