Broncos need big effort from Keith Brooking against Ravens run game

In their running game, which ranks 17th in the league, the Ravens are equal-opportunity rushers.

They spread things around more than most teams when they attack defensive fronts. Where many offenses will have a sweet spot — a place where they have more carries and average more yards than anywhere else on the line of scrimmage — the Ravens have distributed things fairly evenly across their offensive front when they run.

They have similar percentages of their carries going over left guard, right guard and center. The right guard usually is on the offense's strong side (where the tight end lines up) so that's not all that surprising.

But the Ravens have been particularly effective running to the weak side

The last time the Broncos saw the Patriots, the Patriots piled up 251 yards rushing against Denver's defense, 140 of those coming when the Broncos were in their nickel (five defensive backs) package.

The Patriots have been one of the most active teams in running to the weak side and they did it a lot in that Oct. 7 game against the Broncos.

The Ravens figure to do so as well.

Nice video there. I like what Caldwell said about leaning on other coaching for guidance as well as the command structure for how plays are given & distributed to Flacco. Just don't rely on Caldwell exclusively for goal line yardage alone please. Make sure HC John Harbaugh approves the play 1st. Thank you.

I will be honest, time constraints allow me to peruse articles, sometimes copy & paste parts, but often go back later to read them in total as in AM , i am often just looking for interesting topics to post for all to read / discuss

In all honesty, though I read the article u mention with the video, but i hadnt watched the video, normaly will will sooner or later though but as u noted it now will

OK JUST DID < alot was word for word from article & yes was good, did add a bit more than just in article but main pointsd were samme I thing, he sounds confident though

Baltimore — With the forecast calling for rain here today, Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning experiemented with wearing a glove on his right passing hand late in the practice week.

The gloves used primarily by NFL receiver add tackiness to the grip. Experimenting with the glove, thoough, doesn’t mean Manning will wear it during the game today against the Baltimore Ravens.

WILL IT RAIN , here says 2nd half

At 7:30 this morning, the Baltimore skies are overcast but there’s no rain. The Weather Channel just pointed out the rain is not expected to fall until the second half and it may not roll in until tonight. The temperature is supposed to reach 52 degrees so at least it wouldn’t be rain and cold.

Overcast with rain showers in the afternoon. Fog early. High of 55F. Winds from the SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60%.

Jim Caldwell has never has to call plays at the NFL level, ever.  This is his first gig under the gun.  I know he was around Tom Moore, Clyde Christianson, and Peyton Manning a lot, but you can only absorb so much. The rest comes from within in the heat of the battle.  Weather in Baltimore isn't going to be bad, so I expect Peyton to score.  Can Jim Caldwell call a game to keep up?

I say Peyton and the Broncos prevail.

From It

Of Manning's 19 sacks this season, 17 have come with Kuper not in the lineup and Manny Ramirez on the field in place of the Broncos' offensive captain.
